It's hard to always go here when CVS is just a block down and has so many square feet of items, but Silver Rod really is a great neighborhood drug store. They have notary services, mail, western union, and their isles are so quaint you feel as if you're walking down a small town pharmacy instead of one in new york. I like this place, and they often have those few tiny items that they don't have at the bigger places. I hope they can stay competitive. more

Friendly Pharmacy & Medical Supplies 8/20/2005

Silver Rod has been around for as long as I can remember and from what I heard, it was the first full service pharmacy. Inside, everything is kept very simple and traditional. There are no high tech machines or loyalty cards, just your average pharmacy. Recently, they have added a shipping station in corporation with DHL, Fedex, UPS and even help you drop off your package at USPS for a small fee. This is great for those that can't get away or have the time to stay in the long line at post office. They charge approximately 1 or 2 dollars more than what you would pay at the post office. In addition, they have expert pharmacists that are willing to answer your prescription questions and their store is always organized. more

Good Old Neighborhood Pharmacy 8/14/2005

These days its hard not to walk a block down and notice chains of drug stores and find an indie pharmacy store like Silver Rod. Silver Rod has been around for a long time and operating independently. It caters typically to their past customers who are use to their services. The store in appearance may seem a little out dated and items may not be in variety, however the statff continues to operate on a friendly level. They even offer medical supplies/equipment. If you are looking for just simple items and are looking to fill your script this store may be for you. more

Pretty Good Drug Store 8/4/2005

I recently needed a prescription filled by my doctor. It was medicine for my stomach. My insurance denied coverage of the drug and I needed to buy it at full price. I went to all the neighborhood pharmacies and Silver Rod had the lowest price. The store was very organized and the customer service was great. I remembered having forgotten the dosage and I called them and they gave me good advice. I would definitely fill my prescriptions there again. more
