This is my favorite pizza in the USA. I lived in NYC for one year and tried as many pizza joints as I could, but Anna Maria's was by far my favorite. It was also a favorite of m...

When I'm very busy, I go there sometimes to take out a quick bite, because they have many kinds of pizza, and it tastes OK. I usually ask for no warm it up necessary, because I do...

Anna Maria 8/13/2005

This review is really more a supplement to the previous one, to avoid repetition. I definitely agree about needing a fork for this pizza, and I must say, it's one of the few places to get pizza after midnight around the Bedford L. What I don't like about this pizza is that I find it too greasy. Also, there is not a lot of sauce, in fact, I would say it's more like crushed tomatoes and water. I like to bring my slices of plain home and supplement it with extra homemade sauce. I also feel that the price is a bit steep for topping pizza, at over $3 a slice. A slice of plain will run you $2. I have actually tried their pasta dishes, I had stuffed shells one day, which was about a 10 minute wait while they prepared it. It came with a small loaf of bread and about 4 shells with melted mozarella and plenty of sauce. For $5 I believe. It was definitely enough to eat half and take half home for the next day. So, I would recommend the stuffed shells, although it's not the best italian food I've ever had, it was pretty good for the cost and quality. more

This Pizza is No Joke, Bring a Fork Lift 7/24/2005

Just steps away from the Bedford Avenue L stop, Anna Maria Pizza is absolutely NO JOKE. Not only is the pizza fantastic, but the slices are positively dripping with toppings - one piece has got to weigh a couple of pounds! I'm partial to the mounds of veggies, spicy sausage and jalepenos myself. There are a decent amount of tables inside, which is good because this is definitely fork pizza, if you have to take it to go try to slide just a bite (of the HUMONGOUS slice) off the edge of the plate and nibble at it, but if you get any one of the fantastic array of toppings you'll probably end up shoveling fingerfuls of it into your mouth as you walk, so don't forget the napkins. The restaurant is open until 1am, so even though the pies pass muster with the sober, they're great for sopping up a night of drinking on the "Ave" too. I hear a rumor that their pasta dishes aren't bad either, but just thinking about the pizza makes me full so I haven't tried them. more
