We just made another jaunt out to Display and Costume. This is one of our first stops when starting our ramp up to Halloween. However, after stopping by this past weekend, I would highly recommend going during the week not the weekend especially when Halloween is around the corner. It was very crowded and will probably become more so as Halloween gets closer.
However, they do have some great decorations, party supplies and costumes so it's well worth a trip out there even if you have to brave the crowds.

but considering the hype surrounding this restaurant, I really thought my whole eating experience would be better. It could be me though, I had really high expectations going in the front door and I was somewhat disappointed with the food. My husband and I liked the garlic naan and the butter chicken. The daal we recieved was somewhat lack luster and the tandoori prawns were mealy. I rate the whole experience to be good because of the butter chicken and the naan.
I will have to try some different things next time though and see if I have a better experience.

I always I have a great time bowling at West Seattle Bowl. They have recently remodeled the whole facility and it's very nice. Everything is set up to be family friendly which is important to me since I'm usually toting around at least 2 children. The bumpers on the lanes can be lowered or raised depending on who is bowling which is a plus. That way mom and kids can bowl at the same time with a minimum of hassle.

A big thanks to Chloe for her wonderful review about Seaside Beach House rentals. My family had a wonderful time in Seaside this past week and I highly recommend staying at a house instead of a hotel.
Our little house was about a block from the beach and an easy walk from the main walking path (the promenade) to the main little shopping area.
The house was just right for our family of four. it had plenty of space and was very neat and tidy.

I realized when I answered a previous question about my house, I mentioned Ron's services but I hadn't done a review yet. I will fix that right now!
If you have an old house (or new) I would highly recommend the Gutter Factory to do your new gutters. We have an old Craftsman that had the old original gutters on them and needless to say ninety year old wood gutters are not pretty or useful.
In order to stay with the style of the house, Ron custom built our gutters. They are now clean, ready for rain and will actually work as intended. Ron's quote was reasonable, he was friendly, full of interesting advice and did wonderful work!
I highly, highly recommend him!

I know you requested a female ob/gyn but I just had to recommend Dr. Robert Levine. He delivered my last baby and saw to my prenatal care beforehand. He was kind, caring, truthful and wonderful throughout the pregnancy and c-section. Basically I recommend him to everyone who asks.
I will also add that I've seen many dr's at this clinic and I would recommend any one of them. One of the other ob/gyn's is Dr. Levine's wife (who also helped deliver my little one).

For our weekly family fun day this Sunday, we chose to get out of Seattle and go explore the Northwest Trek Park up near Eatonville.
This park is a wild animal preserve the specializes in animals from the northwest. It was a great little day trip, an easy drive and with lots of interesting animals to see.
The big draw to this park is that you get to ride a tram through out the park to see animals (only the non-predators!) in a natural setting. There are deer, bison, elk roaming about to name a few. The naturalist who leads the tram tour, really knew her stuff! She spotted the hiding animals, she knew really interesting facts about the animals and she had a pleasant speaking voice to boot!
The predatorial animals had there individual areas located around the walking loop in the preserve. We did get to peek at the bears and the wolves but due to the time of day we were there most animals were sleeping in their hiding spots.
I would recommend this place to anyone who wanted to see some animals up close. It was fun and we will probably go again in the future. I would also recommend that you bring a picnic lunch instead of getting something there. They have nice picnic areas and I'm sure if you brought your own it would be much better than the "salty dogs" we bought. :)

My husband and I recently went to the Sunday brunch at Alki's. It was good but very pricey! However, we were lucky enough to get a great seat near the big windows that look over the sound and for that view, I would pay a little extra. :)
Pros:
1. Great view! Great view! Great view!
2. Service was great! Our server was very prompt and friendly. Kept my coffee cup filled which made me very happy.
3. The eggs benedict was great. I think my husband went for seconds on that. The chocolate fountain was pretty neat. There was a lot of seafood but I will admit seafood didn't really appeal to me before noon.
Cons:
1.The price! Yikes! For two of us, the brunch was around $80. However, a meal without the children. Priceless!

Before we went and saw Pirates of the Caribbean the other day at Pacific Place, the hubby and and I had a nice little lunch at Thai Ginger. We had the fresh rolls and the phad see-iew (sorry if I didn't spell that correctly). It was a nice, light alternative to the other choices by that particular movie theatre. The food was not too spicy but spicy enough, the broccoli was still a little crisp and the sauce was tasty! I recommend going here if you are going to catch a movie and want something a little less heavy than pub or greasy spoon fare.

For our big night away from the kids, we stayed at the Roosevelt Hotel which is located right by Pacific Place in downtown Seattle. My husband and I figured we couldn't go wrong with a centrally located smallish hotel. Well, we were sort of right and sort of wrong.
Pros:
1. Location! It's centrally located to good restaurants and movie theatres. Since we were going to go to both, this was important to us.
2. Clean establishment. The downstairs lobby was clean and well set up. The room was clean if a little sterile. The bed was comfy as well.
Cons:
1. Service was not speedy. For the price we paid, I expected a little better service. It took about an hour to get our small suitcase up to our room. The front desk people were not overly friendly either. They also took a long time to get our car out of valet, they had the wrong number but instead of coming back to check, they went to their little office and my husband had to go track them down.
2. The bathroom was falling apart. Specifically, the tiles around the big jetted tub were falling apart. There was black stains all around the tub. It just wasn't pretty! I would think that if you are paying a higher price for a suite with a jetted tub, you should at least have a pretty tub!
So.depending on what you are looking for in a hotel, the Roosevelt may or may not be what you are looking for! Easy access to downtown, check! The amenities that make a hotel stay special, find somewhere else!
