Fun, but not the best 3/30/2006

Jai Thai is reasonably good, and definitely predictable. The restaurant is always hopping, and I haven’t always gotten the best service on weekend evenings, plus there is always a long wait at those times. (Once I even made a reservation, got there on time, and still had to wait twenty minutes for a table.) There is an upside though; last time I was there they were playing a Studio Ghibli film on a big screen. That’s cool, but if you are looking for excellent food, Jai Thai isn’t it. more

I love it!! 11/22/2005

When I lived in Fremont I used to eat here all the time. The ambience is wonderful and to food even better. It looks upper cut, however it is casual as all can be. The only thing about the place is that if you drive be prepared to walk to it because parking is a little bit of an issue. But the walk is well worth it because the food is so fabulous, and affordable too. more

Decent Thai in a sea of mediocre 9/9/2005

Jai Thai used to be my favorite Thai restaurant in Seattle. After being an exchange student in Thailand years ago, I had fallen in love with the food. When I moved to Seattle I was surprised to see so many Thai restaurants, and extremely disappointed to taste so much sugar in all the dishes. Jai Thai used to not overdose their dishes with sugar but have unfortunately now bowed to the Seattle taste preference and their food has suffered. It's still a pretty tasty choice, but not what it used to be. more

Worth the Trek from Bellevue 9/9/2005

While my wife and I won't always drive over to Fremont from Bellevue, just because we rarely have time for it, when we do, Jai Thai is the one place we always go out of our way to eat at. The food is fantastic, Fremont is a fun place to walk around, and it's just an enjoyable experience over all. For those not too familiar with Thai food, a safe place to start is always the Phad Thai noodles. Add a side of their tiny, tasy deep fried spring rolls, and you have a meal right there. For a spicer taste, the curries are always a good bet. I haven't gotten too crazy with my choices at any Thai place yet, but Jai is a safe place to take a bet, because it's all good. more

Excellent Thai Food 9/9/2005

I have never ahd a bad experience with the food at Jai Thai--it is always prepared quickly and perfectly, with just the right mix of spices. I am always amazed at how flavorful the dishes are, eepecially when you compare it to the generally bland Asian food you find in the city. The prices are reasonable and if you don't go right at peak meal times, you won't have a problem getting seated quickly. more

Awesome food, and a great atmosphere 8/30/2005

I'm really picky when it comes to asian food...but Jai Thai is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is really flavorful (it's not like something made from a box) and it comes out quickly. If you like to drink, they offer all kinds of drink specials. If you're not sure what to get, the typical Phad Thai and Pao Kee Mao (forgive my spelling) is always great. more

Best red curry in my life, son 8/20/2005

Jai Thai, located in a nicely decked-out storefront on the main drag of Fremont Ave (just north of the bridge), offers an excellent variety of thai dishes, including the old favorites (Pad-Thai) and some you may not be familiar with (Swimming Rama). But for my money, you can’t beat the red curry—a perfect balance of veggies, basil and a sauce so rich and creamy, you don’t even want to think of all the sugar and coconut milk that's in there. Perfection . . . suck it up. The lunches are very reasonably priced. more

good food, funky atmosphere 8/19/2005

We had lemongrass chicken and pineapple curry, which were both really good. This is a large restaurant with a funky, comfortable atmosphere. The booths are in a really dark spot in the restaurant, so be careful sitting there unless you want to take a nap or you are a vampire. They are really comfortable, though. more

So consistent... 9/10/2004

We've been to this place over 30 times and never once had a bad experience. The ingredients are fresh, the tastes are just right (just sweet enough, just spicey enough) and the wait staff is usually in rush but never make you feel rushed. Tawon Thai across the street is a close second but this one is tops for Fremont. more

Great Thai food - and great for vegetarians 8/23/2004

Even when it was a hole in the wall I loved Jai Thai because it had such tasty fare. And now that it is atmospheric to boot...what more can you ask for? And the price is very reasonable. Lots of options for vegetarians, you can add steamed or fried tofu to most dishes. They can also spice the food up or down to your taste. more

Good Thai Food in Fremont 8/23/2004

Thai Food in Seattle has been a bit of an anathema for me since moving here from boston. I expected the best ...and lots of it. Instead, I got mediocre and lots of it. Fortunately, Jai Thai is above mediocre. It's not great but good. It's a fun place. Good setting. Solid food. Service can vary. Overall, one of the better Thai restaurants in Seattle. more
