Next time I would go without the kids, though, because they were too distracting and there was such so much to see and enjoy. I loved going into the studio and 'jamming' - I have no musical talents whatsoever, but it was fun to 'have a go' in private! My mother and I were like teenagers, having such a giggle... We thoroughly enjoyed the songwriting exhibit last summer. I believe you can record a song there as well, which I intend to do with my husband for fun one of these afternoons. If you get the Entertainment books, there is usually a 2 for 1 coupon inside.

We had a great experience selling "antique" furniture that we had purchased in the United Kingdom to the Fremont Antique Mall. We were not expecting to get much money for our old bar and stools which were very ornate but in pretty bad shape. They surprised us by giving us quite a lot of money for the ensemble! So, if you have some old looking junky furniture that you are willing to haul to the store, try your luck...you never know.

Although I wouldn't say this restaurant is particularly family friendly, we did manage to fit our double stroller in behind the diner and enjoy a lunch for two. We ordered the Vegan Hash with two poached eggs and the Vegan Sandwich with tabouleh on the side and they were both delicious (sandwiches are served on Essential Baking bread). The sandwich had a heavenly white bean spread on it and roasted asparagus + eggplant among other delicious ingredients. The bathroom is clean + spacious but there is no change table. Plenty of room to change the kids on the floor with a change pad and some flexibility. They have a handful of large table (for up to six I suppose), a counter with benches, and a couple of smaller tables. No espresso, only drip - boo hoo. And tea but no milk - another small disappointment (tea with CREAM???).

They have a delicious and relatively healthy breakfast menu (sweet and savoury) with huge portions. The food is well presented and reasonably priced and the service is exceptional. Very baby and toddler friendly - perfect for families or anyone else.

The restaurant is in a strip mall, so don't expect something charming, the focus here is on the food. And the service is a little stiff. Despite all this, the food is really good and there is a lot to chose from. There is an Indian grocery attached to the restaurant - a great place to stock up on Indian desserts, teas, spices, beans, rice, crockery...

I'm not convinced that they are the cheapest toy store in town, but they are a groovy toy store to support and much more interesting than the likes of ToysRUs. Look out for their in store activities for kids of all ages.

Most of us know The Essential Baking Company for their bread, which they sell around the city at various grocery stores. But if you haven't stopped by the bakery itself, it is worth a visit. It gets crowded at lunch and on weekends, but their lattes are pure heaven and their lunches are delicious. As for baked goods...sweet and savoury treats are abundant! Very family friendly with high chairs. No change table in the washrooms, though.

If you only ever go to one consignment shop, let this be the one. Kids on 45th is cramped, but if you are after bargains, this is the place to find them. Used toys are abundant and cheap, as are slings, bjorns, backpacks, diaper genies, potties, breastpumps...they have just about everything. I have been to most of the consignment shops in the area, and this one is far cheaper. They also have an excellent selection of used books.

This is a nice place to take a child swimming. The water is warm and barely chlorinated. The pool is definitely on the smaller side (20 yards I think?) and the space is a bit cramped, but still...

The pool is definitely on the smaller side (20 yards I think?) and the space is a bit cramped, but still pleasant. There is a lot of "open swim" time, some lap swimming in the morning and evenings. Also, this pool is 24 HOURS.
