Great French in Brooklyn! 1/24/2007

I was taken here for a pre-Christmas dinner, and was pleasantly surprised! I'd never been to this area of Brooklyn and had no idea what to expect. Once inside, we were surrounded by luscious decor, and very amicable hosts, intent on being sure we enjoyed each part of our meal. The menu selections were wonderful - foie gras, fish, lamb, chicken, great variety, and excellent food! Escargots made the right way, service was perfect, each course was served at the right time, the wine was perfect with the meal, an all around great evening, would definitely go back, and try their sister restaurant chez lola. more

Pricey French 8/18/2005

Food is consistently awesome - pricey but awesome - go when you want to spend $8 per drink and $25 on dinner and $8 on an appetizer. Never been let down. ********** The food is really great. And Chef Oskar offers special 3 course dinner deals from 5 - 7pm from Monday - Friday. Their brunch menu on Saturdays/Sundays offers the most variety I have seen in Fort Greene. Their deserts (flawless chocolate cake!!!) are truly something else. Eat them all! Great food, laid back atmosphere, good service. A nice place to have a long dinner and a bottle of wine. Can be a little pricey. more

  • In Short
In a neighborhood known for its French bistros, Chez Oskar is the grand dame on the block. Neighbors wave to each other from the sidewalk seating, and inside, wood tables host casual dates and group outings. The menu is steeped in Bistro Basics 101, with lunch options like mussels in white wine and a variety of sandwiches like lamb and arugula or proscuitto and mozzarella. Dinner highlights the restaurant's French pedigree with options like escargot, nicoise salad, and traditional burgers and steak.
