Great Southside Eatery 3/18/2011

The lunch goes form around $8 for all you can eat buffet. When I hit a Chinese buffet, its usually because of the seafood selection. Never because of the sushi, The crab legs and mussels stayed filled and warm. The shrimp were decent sized. The banana pudding was also very good. I can't complain about this place. I liked it. more

NOT just Chinese food! 11/28/2008

This is NOT a Chinese restaurant! It is so much more. They feature Chinese, Japanese, and Korean food all in one splendid buffet. Where else can you get teryaki chicken, bul go ki, and won ton soup in one place? I would go just for the watercress salad! So much to choose from and all so good. Try it all then go back for what more of what moves you. Always fresh fruits and desserts, too. Love it! more

Average food, above average prices 3/28/2006

Buffet Palace does have the largest buffet and widest array of menu items in town, it's not really that good. I've eaten there twice now, and neither time have been impressed. Additionally, their prices are quite a bit higher than several places with better food. They need to stop focusing upon the number of menu choices and make a smaller number of excellent food items... more

Buffet Palace 3/21/2006

Although the Buffet Palace has the most variety of any Chinese buffet I've ever seen, their prices are a bit on the pricey side. All things considered, they do have a good array of sushi to choose from and you don't have to wonder how long it's been sitting out. However, most of their stir-fries lean on the "average" range and the rest of their dishes don't go far from there. If you're planning on paying their $10+ price, my only suggestion would be to stick with their specialties. They do have a great grill section with fresh vegetables that are grilled on the spot. Their higher-end dishes are also towards the end of the buffet line, so make sure to hold off for those. And do like me, get your money's worth on the sushi. more

Great buffet - get your sushi fix cheap! 10/24/2005

For us sushi buffs, our cravings tend to hit the old wallet pretty hard. But, if you aren't craving a specific sushi treat, just need a general fix, this is a great place to go! Ther are usually 12-16 to choose from, all fresh, some actual fish, lol. Don't forget the wasabi and pickled ginger...mmmm ginger.... If you like to taste your wasabi, I would recommend getting a scoop of it and using a soup or desert bowl to mix it with the soy sauce you'll find on your table. They have a pre-mixed version, but it's weak at best. They have numerous delicious dishes besides the sushi, so go there hungry and enjoy the many treats! more

Chinese Restaurant and Buffet 8/18/2005

This is very good buffet restaurant. There is a selection of Chinese foods, few American dishes, salads, and desserts. The location is close to shopping, and theaters. You will eat more than you should, but it is worth it! There is also a Sushi Bar, several soups, and an Ice Cream Machine to appease your appetite. more

The best Asian Buffet in town 8/18/2005

It is the best Asian buffet in town. It has a lot of foods to choose, like Chinese food, Korean BBQ and Japan sushi. And there is a board to tell you what is special today at the entering, sometimes they have blue crab. And on your birthday, they will give you a little celebration like a small piece cake and a song. more

Great for a buffet. 8/5/2005

I think this is one of the best Chinese food buffets in Austin. They also serve some sushi (usually in a variety of 3-4 different types of fish) and some Korean barbecue dishes as well such as bulgogi and kalbi... all time favs. I say try everything the first round, then pick and choose your favorites on the next. I highly recommend this buffet to anyone and frankly all the locations taste really good. more

Big Variety of Foods 8/4/2005

Buffet Palace has a large buffet line, with many interesting foods to choose from. They are in a great location, very easy to get to, and the wait staff there is very pleasant. They have a nice selection of sushi and desserts also. more

Pretty Good 7/11/2005

This resturaunt is very good. They have two huge buffets with every to choose from. They have all types of noodles but my favorite are the fat ones. They have a unique taste to them. They even have sushi and california rolls. The desert is to die for! Get a pwdered cake. They are really full of fat but they are these fried buscuits and you shake white powdered sugar on them. Yummy! more

Buffet Palace 7/7/2005

Buffet Palace is a fair place if you like buffets. An Asain featured buffet with dessert selection included. There is plenty of selection on the buffet from traditional asian dishes, salads, seafoods, soups, and sushi. This is a place that you are served so in addition to you buffet charge you also have to tip the server. Drinks are separate from the buffet price. There is special pricing for lunch and children. more

Lots of Choices, but Beware! 6/30/2005

You won't find a buffet offering more choices than Buffet Palace, but the choices come at a cost. Although it is a relatively inexpensive place to eat, you will find that often, the food seems less than fresh, and may even be lukewarm. The quality is acceptable if one is merely wanting to fill their stomach, but for anyone who is interested in the subtle complexities of Asian food will be disappointed. Watch out for the sushi. My 13 year old son got food poisoning from it. Hopefully, this is not common. Stay with the dishes that are piping hot if you go. more
