This is a great church with great people. You do not feel judged while you are here as their refreshing motto is "No perfect people allowed". I was allowed to connect on my own time, not when over-zealous churchgoers decided to get me involved. And once you do decide to get involved, there is pretty much something for everyone to do. The messages appeal to what we are all going through and the pastors are very down-to-earth. Plus, the music is great and not like what you might expect to hear at church. At least try it out!

Father Bill is great. He keeps a sense of humor through the Mass while keeping it reverent just the same. The church architecture and design are very calming as are the people in the church. The only complaint I have is the music -- I prefer a choir. But I may be only going at times where the choir does not sing.

More
The Animal Trustees of Austin operate a wellness clinic and one for getting your pet spayed or neutered. While they don't deal with "sick" pets, they do offer a host of services like routine and preventitive care, including vaccinations. The staff is friendly and the vet and vet assistants I dealt with seemed very knowledgeable and had good recommendations. The wait can be long though, so call ahead to find out when they're least busy times are. They accept walk-ins, and I don't think they even take appointments. Still, it's worth it for the quality and service they provide.

St. Thomas More is a beautiful church. I like the way they incorporated all of the limestone into the building. Aesthetics aside, I also enjoyed the mass I heard there. It was very interesting and it caught my attention. The music in the service was nice. They had a guitar and a piano. The one thing I didn't care for was the lack of a multi-ethnic parish. I prefer churches with different ethnicities in attendance, like St. Albert The Great.

If you are looking for a new church home, this is the place to go.
They have a wonderful children's and youth ministry. My four year old son looks forward to going every Sunday, as well as my husband and I. They have a great adult ministry and well as a ministry for the older (but wiser!) people.
There are also outreach programs on Tuesday nights, Bible study and music opportunities on Wednesdays, and AWANA programs that are due to begin in September.
Great music and great sermons every week - what more could you ask for?
Come see for yourself.

More
Jane's Due Process is the ONLY statewide organization that helps girls under 18 make their own reproductive decisions, by providing direct legal services and helping girls obtain a judicial bypass. The bypass is required for girls who wish to get an abortion without being required to notify a parent. Many of these teens face abusive home lives and telling a parent would place their lives or well-being in jeopardy. Jane's has a confidential hotline that is operated 24 hours a day, and all its services are free. Jane's never asks clients for their full names or phone numbers, and they never call you unless you ask them to and give them a safe time and place to do it. They provide transportation and free lawyers, file the court papers you'll need, and help with everything else involved. They're a great resource--just call 1-866-WWW-JANE (it's a free call).

My mother placed my sister with LSSS 26 years ago for adoption. I found out about it 2 years ago and went to LSSS and spoke with a wonderful counselor, Brandy Bentley, and have since contacted and met our sister as of last Thanksgiving. They keep excellent records of everything at LSSS which make is easier in the search. They set up the inital written contact and handled it until we were ready to do correspondance on our own. They provide counseling, if needed, once face to face contact is made. Our church also works with LSSS and highly recommends it to couples looking to adopt.

I have used May Day Services (health care claims monitoring service) for over 5 years, and I highly recommend them! The owner, Mary Hathaway, is knowledgeable, diligent, and dependable; and she's willing to battle for every one of her clients. May Day's service fees are extremely reasonable. I especially recommend May Day's health claims services for anyone facing a major illness and huge stacks of insurance company EOBs and medical bills. May Day will make sure that the patient doesn't pay one cent more than he or she owes. This is a WONDERFUL resource!!

I hope you're not in need of Safeplace services (shelter, counseling), but if you are you should certainly give them a call. Their hotline is open 24 hours a day. I also wanted to mention that this is a great place to donate locally or volunteer your time. As far as domestic violence programs go, this is a very good one and we should be proud to have it in Austin. The shelter itself used to be twice the size it is now, but much of it had to close because of a loss in funding. Please support it.

More
Hi
I only went to visit this church one time and did enjoy the music, the preaching was OK. But, it was super long. 2 hours. Got a bit hungry. LOL It wasn't a special service, I don't think. So 2 hours is too long for me when I didn't eat much before hand.
To be far, I didn't attend the service mentioned above but as far as God not loving Jesus, I believe that she, the pastor's wife, may of meant that God had to turn away when Jesus, as He can not look at sin, when Jesus took on our sins. Not that He stopped loving Jesus. She didn't explain it well it seems from the comment.
I do not like mega churches in general either but sometimes I go to enjoy the praise service. I do think the churches are getting away from the old time type of services but I do like more of the modern music but I don't think we need to go this far with the bells and whistles all the time. It is too bad that baby Christians are so used to it that they may not enjoy a good preaching service with out all of the fun stuff. I guess the needs of young Christians are different and they need see that Christian's are not boring or that we have some artistic flare also.
But as long as people know that a pray does not save us, it is following Jesus after that prayer that reflects that we excepted His gift of life. That we have Him as our King and Leader and do what He wants us to do and we died to ourselves. I hope this message is getting out there.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son....
Look up begotten and see what it means.
I do have concerns for these types of churches and would love to find a home type of church in this part of town. If anyone knows of one, can you post it here.
Thank you
