The Nimitz Museum(currently closed for remodeling) is a great place to visit when visiting Fredricksburg. The other parts of the National Museum are great too, but I like to explore the Nimitz, and talk to some of the veteran's that are more than willing to share their experiences and get great joy when seeing younger people take interest in something like WWII. There are always veterans around, and the exhibits are remarkable. I like to explore the outdoor exhibits of the tanks, planes and other equipment. Prices for admission are cheap, and there is plenty of parking.

The San Antonio Zoo has been around for a long time, and they are making improvements all of the time. They have a huge variety of animals, and the park is beautiful. I would not recommend going in the summer, because of our Texas heat, but it is nice in the fall with the trees, and the breeze. The merry go round by the parking lot is great to get pictures of the kiddos on, and the price for admission is very affordable. There is plenty of parking too.

Planet K is a great store to just browse around in, or to find that gift for the hard to buy for person. They sell everything from cigarettes, to novelty items, t-shirts, and adult items. Not a place to bring kids, but I have gone in there with a very stuffy friend, and her eyes were as wide as they could be. The staff there is great, and the toys they sell are fantastic. I get all of my gag gifts for parties and gatherings here as well.

The Candle Factory in Georgetown across from Inner Space Caverns is one of the last places in the country to make hand dipped candles. The scent is wonderful when you walk in and you can take a tour of the factory and watch a candle you can buy being made. I even made a special request last time we were there, and they were happy to make the candle in the colors I wanted. The candles make a great gift, and I promise you won't go home empty-handed!

I moved to Falcon Ridge Apartments after much apartment hunting in South Austin. The staff there worked with me to get a great rate for an apartment, making sure I got the best price for my money. They gave me 2 free months, plus a huge discount on my rent for signing a longer lease. The facilities are great, a hot tub, pool, laundry facilities, and weight/media rooms. The covered parking is affordable, and the views seem like you are in the Hill Country instead of right off the highway.

The Town Lake Animal Shelter is a great place to go look for a new pet. They take all animals with no questions, so there are always many puppies there. They are also a great place to go look if you have lost a pet recently, many of them show up there. The rates they charge are decent, not overinflated, and they ready your animal to go home and help you find a vet that will help you out with your new adopted animal.

I went to Longhorn dental for a cleaning, and was treated like one of the masses. I thought the office was just acceptable, and my husband needed to go to, so I sent him afterward. He got stuck in traffic, then finally found it and showed up 3 minutes late, and was told that they couldn't take him. They told him to take a seat and they would take him if they had a few minutes, and after 3 hours he tossed his paperwork back at the receptionists who were ignoring him, and told them to toss his insurance info, he would never use them again. Very poor service, and they were very rude.

The Austin Ice Bats and the Expo Center is a great experience, at least once. The atmosphere is charged, and the place is cold. The beer is ever flowing, and the prices are just right. The fights on the ice are really wild, and are definitely something I have never seen that up close and personal. They have a half time toss where they throw out t-shirts, and they also have volunteers that help out the crowd. I have volunteered thru work a couple of times and gotten free tickets that way. Parking is immense and cheap!

Interstate Lanes is a great family hangout. The have a super friendly staff, and the lanes are clean and very family friendly. They have bumper bowling and my 3 year old is fascinated with figuring out the way the lanes work. The price is affordable, and they don't have as many league nights as some of the other bowling alleys in the area. A great family place right up the road from Austin.

The Round Rock Express at the Dell Diamond is great to take a family to. We have little kids, so we mostly roam the ballpark during the game, but we still get to catch as much as possible. The snack stands are never really crowded, and kids love nothing more than a hot dog at the ballpark! My son loves when is grandpa gets to go, and the prices are very affordable. They have discount nights, and the fireworks are awesome!
