NEVER USE THIS SERVICE 11/26/2008

Never use this company. I discovered a problem with leaking humidifier after work. Called Bishop and told them about it. After hours service call $179 paid up front by credit card. The repairmen told me that cause for the leakage was not obvious and he has to perform complete check-up for $324, but if it is humidifier he is not going to fix it, because "it is not a plumbing work". I pointed out that leakage is pretty obvious and he can see it himself if I turm humidifier back, but he insisted that leaking may come from within the heater and I should not touch anything. Sounds scary so against my better judgement I signed some paper approving check-up. After that he turned on humidifier and told me that it is leaking, but he can't do anything about it like he told me before. The rest of his visit he dedicated to filling five different papers and taking about 20 pictures building "evidence portfolio". The whole experience feels like a scam: $179+$324 for nothing and I am filling a report with Better Busines. Stay away from these guys. Pros: none Cons: rip off more

Very satisfied customer! 11/24/2008

I was very satisfied with the work Bishop Plumbing did at my home. Unfortunately, I had a flood from the bad rain a few months ago and wanted to make sure I'd never have water again. Bishop came out promptly and explained how they would put in the overhead sewers. Gave me an estimate. When I called them to do the job, I must say they were there within a week and the job was done in 3 days, as stated. The men were very professional. They did a very good job and did not leave a mess. They had to replace a small piece of grass with sod. A few days later they came out to check to make sure it was okay, but apparently it settled too low, so they redid it and added more soil. The patch is fine. I really was glad to see that they follow thru after the job is done. I really felt like they cared about the job they did and the customer. I would recommend them to anyone. Pros: Professional and knowledgeale Cons: None that I can really say more

My parents who are in their 80's recently because of the floods suffered water damage in their basement and their 2 yr. old hot water heater did not work. They called Bishop Plumbing to see if they could fix it. They were told by the plumber that it couldn't be fixed (even though he did not look at it) and they needed a new one which he could install that day. He first quoted them a price of $2700 but then said he would do it for only $2100 so my parents thought they were given a fair price. When they told us the next day what they had paid we were stunned. I called three different plummers and they all quoted a price under $1,000. The last plummer I spoke with couldn't believe the price they were charged and asked the name of the company. When I said the company was from Des Plaines he said is it Bishop Plumbing and I said yes. He said they have the reputation for ripping people off . I am so angry with Bishop Plumbing for taking advantage of two senior citizens who are on fixed incomes and didn't know any better. I will tell everyone I know to never do business with Bishop Plumbing and I hope anyone that reads this do the same. Pros: Nothing Cons: Ridiculous Prices and takes advantage of Senior Citizens more

Total Rip Off - DONT USE BISHOP PLUMBING 9/9/2008

I called on a Saturday and the receptionist said we don't charge extra for weekends. She said it is $79.95 to come out so I arranged an appointment. She said the plumber would get there at 11:00. After waiting around for 2 hours I get a call that he can't come until later in the afternoon. When he finally gets there he shows me his laundry list for repairs. Cheapest repair is $234.25 plus the 79.95 to come out. He fixes my faucet in 45 minutes and it seems to work fine for the RIPOFF cost of $314. The next day I have very little hot water pressure and call them to come back. I am told the repair is not guaranteed because they didn't use any of their own parts and I would have to pay to have them come out again. These guys are a total ripoff. Don't let their big Phone book ad fool you. Pros: NONE Cons: HIGH COST, BAD WORK, DON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK more

Avoid these guys 9/2/2008

My shower was leaking into my family room and someone suggested them. The ""plumber"" arrived and took a look and gave me an estimate. Once he had a hole in my family room ceiling he came back to me and told me it would cost several hundred dollars more. I told him to go ahead, since I now had a hole in my ceiling. When the painter came to fix the hole he told me the pipe was installed too low and he couldn't fit a piece of plasterboard over the hole, so, great painter that he was, he found a way to install a thinner piece of plasterboard so he could patch up the hole. I'll never call Bishop Plumbing again since they were extremely expensive and not very professional. Common sense would tell you to install the pipe with enough clearance to be able to get a piece of plasterboard over the hole. Pros: he arrived on time Cons: did a shoddy job more

Bishop Plumbing is awesome! 6/22/2008

We have friends over for the Cross Town classic and had problems with our bathroom. It's sunday afternoon and the game is on. We called 3 different plumbers. Two were no answers and one said he couldn't send a plumber until Tuesday. My 4th call was to Bishop Plumbing and they were out in less than an hour. We wanted the plumber to stay and watch the game with us, but he said he was off to save another party. The plumber was awesome! Pros: Fast service on a Sunday afternoon! Bishop Plumbing was awesome! Cons: The plumber wouldn't stay to watch the game during our party! more

Professional, reliable, great warranties. Will use and Bishop Plumbing again. 6/20/2008

We had tried to put in a new faucet in our bathroom. We bought the best faucet we could find (that we liked) at Home Depot and my husband and I tried to put it in. It was just too loose and it leaked no matter what we did. With a litle embarrassment, we called Bishop plumbing to come out and fix it. They showed us a better product and gave us a choice to fix ours or buy their product. Comparing the two, we went with theirs which was much heavier and obviously of better quality. It cost a llittle more, but the prices were given up front and their warranty was much better than Home Depots. There are many unprofessional plumbers out there, but these gentlemen were very professional. They did the job quickly and even cleaned our bathroom when done! I highly recommend them. Pros: No hidden costs, work explained well and very professional. Great warranty! Cons: I forgot the plumber's name more
