I must admit that after having read some of the reviews on this board, I was a bit skeptical about having Bishop Plumbing come to my home. However, when our water heater finally went out over the New Year's Holiday, I had Bishop come out and couldn't be more pleased with the experience.
When the water heater stopped working, I immediately called my brother (who coincidentally had just had his water heater replaced a few months earlier) to ask who he had hired, or might recommend. His response? Bishop Plumbing. I did perform a little 'due dilligence' and checked the online reviews -- and also talked to my brother again. He assured me that I would be pleased, so I decided to give them a chance.
When I called the office, the woman that helped me was very nice and accomodating. She told me that they could have someone out first-thing that morning, or later in the day if I'd like. Since I was already at work, I asked if we could set the appointment up for around 12:00 pm , so I could meet the plumber at my home on my lunch break. She said she would do her best to try to accomodate my schedule.
As a homeowner, I was really impressed by the options I was presented with, as so many of the contractors I 've dealt with in the past are very rigid with their "schedules" (i.e. we'll be there when we get there). I didn't find that the case at all with Bishop.
She also explained that Bishop Plumbing would charge me $79.95 for them to come out, at which point the plumber would visually inspect the problem, and give me prices for any repairs/replacement after he had a chance to see the problem. I agreed and then the woman further explained that if, after having the plumber examine the water heater, I chose to have the work done -- that she would waive the fee (the $79.95) if I had the work done. This sounded reasonable, so I went ahead and scheduled the appointment, and hoped for the best!
Later that morning, the woman then gave me a call at work to inform me that the plumber would be at my home between 12:00 pm and 12:30 pm, and to ensure that I would be there to meet with him. I agreed and left work to meet him at my home.
He arrived promptly @ 12:15 - 12:20 pm. The gentleman (I can't remember his name) that arrived at my home was very courteous and understanding from the moment he walked into my home. (first impression was great - he even wore covers on his shoes, so as not to get my floors dirty!) After explaining to him the problem I was having with my water heater, and then showing him the symptoms I had experienced, he offered me 2 different options (attempt to repair or replacement). He went on to explain that if I did choose to replace the heater, Bishop Plumbing would offer me a 10-year parts and labor warranty on the new water heater! (I checked Home Depot and Lowe's after the fact, and their warranties didn't even come close). After weighing these options, I elected to go with the replacement of my water heater. He was done in only a couple hours, and my family and I were back taking hot showers that evening.
It's been 2 weeks now, and I couldn't be happier with the service from Bishop. Not only did they take care of my problem, they have also gained a new customer. I would definitely recommend Bishop to my friends and family the next time any of them have any problems. Thanks!
