Dan did a great and complete job at my house yesterday.\r He explained his services thoroughly and all was clean as he left.

I needed to remove my old water heater for a new one somewhat urgently. The plumber was professional and nice but the cost was almost twice as much as other quotes (I called arou...

I consider myself a very smart person who makes wise decisions, but choosing Bishop is not something I can add to that list! I understand the crazy high priced emergency charge of $269 since it was a Sunday, but $744 to rod a backed up drain. Really? Even their non-emergency price is over $500. So, the guy starts rodding the drain and said he's having a hard time getting past 5 feet and can only go to 15. But, for the low-low price of $849, they can come back with a camera to stick down the pipe to see what's going on. Instead, I called someone the next day for a second opinion and miraculously he rodded to 70 feet. Imagine that? Worst part, is when I called Bishop to complain and explain the situation (firm, but very nicely), the manager that I spoke to said that I was insulting him because he trusts his staff and they're a reputable company, blah, blah, blah. Reputable? Not so much. Trustworthy? No way. DO NOT use Bishop ever. Tell all your friends and family. Stick with the family-owned businesses who come recommended by someone you know. more

I really wish I had looked at this site before contacting them. Live and learn, I guess. I thought it was a little strange when right from the start, the guy basically did a little commercial for the company after greeting me. He also mentioned why plumbing prices are the highest of the home services and listed the justifications for that. That should have been a big red flag. Then, before doing the job, you have to sign in about a million places all over the paperwork ... agreeing to this ... waiving your right to that, etc. They also do kind of a hard sell on you. I take responsibilty for being so stupid to let them do the job, but it's been years since I've had any plumbing work done, so I didn't have a feel for pricing. I should have gone with my gut feeling. Why was it a rip off? They charged me $372 to change an outdoor faucet, and that was a DISCOUNT. It took him probably 45 minutes to do the job. He originally quoted me $452, but got it reduced when I started talking about getting another estimate. While in the basement, he took it upon himself to check out my water heater and write up an estimate to replace that ($1858 for a 50 gal. unit). I have no idea what those cost these days, but when the time comes to replace it, you can bet I'll do some research. I've learned my lesson the hard way. more

They must be stopped! 10/27/2010

Ever wonder why Bishop Plumbing has free pens, magnets, and general freebies everywhere? Why don't other plumbers do that? Bishop Plumbing preys on the people who don't read reviews or know plumbing. They told my wife they would need a whole construction crew to cut an accessible pipe. 'I'm going to fix the leak another way. Sign here or else!!' 20 minutes later he leaves and charges $580 for $10 worth of parts. Don't bother complaining. They have heard this before. I would give their run around 4 stars. more

I wish I could give 0 stars because they truly deserve it. They are the biggest scam artists out there. A man named John forcefully had my wife sign some papers which he didn't even give a copy of to my wife. He said he would not work if she didn't sign. Then he said he could fix the water heater by ""cleaning"" the water heater. My wife saw as he was suppsoedly cleaning the water heater and she didn't notice anything being cleaned at all. Then he insisted that we pay him $350 for him not doign anything and not even fixing it. He wasted 2 hours of our time just thinking about how to fix it. Don't use this company. They will just cheat you. more

If you want to be ripped off, call Bishop. My wife called them to have some bathtub drains cleared. The woman at Bishop said that there was a flat fee to unplug drains, but could not give that info on the phone, the plumber would need to see the problem. Not understanding the concept, I guess, my wife said OK. So these two plumbers come out, I guess to vouch for each other in case of a law suit. Anyway, after agreeing to pay a $79 fee just to show up, my wife was told it would be $300 to unclog the drain. She though he meant all the drains (there were 3). After 1.5 hours of work, he presented her with a bill for $900!!! She said WHAT? He said 3 drains, $300 ea drain. She called me at work and I flipped out. The plumbers finally dropped it to $575, which I refused to pay. I called 4 different plumbing companies in my neighborhood to see what they would charge. The most expensive was $110 1st hr and $25 ea add'l quarter hour., including the snake/rod charge. I offered to split the difference with Bishop, but the owner is a mad man and put a lien on our property. That's Bishop. Stay away. more

Please do not call them - Scam artists 5/28/2010

I called Bishop Plumbing because I thought they were a reputable company. I couldn't have been more wrong. I made a huge mistake and I hope to save someone from making the same mistake. They pride themselves on being a flat fee company but what they really are are a company that rips you off. They charged me $1200 for two hours of work performed by one plumber. After they left I called other plumbers and everyone is aware of Bishop's practices. Their staff is horrible and will not work with you. Please Please stay away from them. You don't want to be their next victim. Pros: quick Cons: scam artists more

Over Charged but Credited 1/2 back 5/23/2010

We were charged $1k for checking our sewer lines which were not checked and could not be checked, only the inside lines were checked which really did not address the concern for the call as a preventative maintenance call. However, we spoke the the service manager John Shivone and he agreed we didn't get what we paid for and agreed to credit us 1/2 the cost back which I thought was very reasonable. I still did get charged $500 for taking the toilet off and checking the inside lines, I realize there was some service done however, 2 hours of work at $500 does seem steep. I would check around if you have time with your issue if not talk to John he seems like a straight shooter and he was helpful to us and fair in this case. Pros: Returned call and appeared reasonable Cons: over charges and sales pitch with service more

My real rating is less than 0. Bishop Plumbing sent their plumber Jason Calucci to my home to replace a kitchen disposal with another I purchased. Jason quoted me $1100.00 and change. I ushered him quickly out of my home. Stay away from this company. Pros: None Cons: Scam Artists more
