I am completely dissatisfied with the quality of service that my dog received from Dr. Rust. His staff was friendly and as helpful as they could be, but he was the complete opposite. I brought my dog in due to a mild cough. I told the doctor prior to seeing the dog that I could only pay $300 today and the rest at the end of the week if need be, he assured me that that wouldn't be a problem. He sedated my dog (because he's hyper and not easy to manage) THREE times, because the first two attempts failed. Then he stuck the dog 5 or 6 times trying to draw blood. The dog was unconscious, there was no excuse for a practiced veterinarian to miss the vein that many times. Dr. Rust moved slowly and seemed confused at times and wasted alot valuable time. While the dog was unconscious, there were still tests that needed to be ran and instead of taking advantage of the window of opportunity the Dr. fought with a piece of tape for 5 minutes, thus needing to sedate the dog AGAIN to finish the tests. At one point he took his hearing aid out of his ear, set it on a BLOODY rag to listen to the dogs breathing. Stating that the lungs sounded clear, he picked up his hearing aid, cleaned it with HIS MOUTH and stuck it back in his ear!!! All of this and he offered no diagnosis or even theory as to what the cough was from or how to fix it. He held my credit card AND MY DOG as colateral while I went to borrow the rest of the money to pay his OUTRAGEOUS BILL. He charged me over $500 for a bag of water, a nail trim, standard blood screenings and alllll the sedatives he used... the dog is in worse shape now than he was when I brought him in. I'd NEVER refer anyone to this crook of a "doctor".
