Best

Food is very good and fast. The one thing I don't like is that the ambiance feels cramped as tables are close to each other and being a crowded place there's not much room.

Worst

Food first, the appetizers were great. But, when the main course came out, something was off with the Sag Paneer, can't put my finger on it, but it was below average. The Nan wa...

Tasty Curries 1/3/2012

Love thier chicken Tika Masala, Garlic Nan, and Sagg Panner. Overall Good food, but ok service as they mainly rely on college students and there's turn over. Not that kid friendly but you can find parking on the side streets. more

Best Indian Food in Town! 2/19/2007

This is my favourite Indian restaurant in Seattle---which is saying a lot because there are a ton of them, especially in the U-District! The service is friendly and the food is divine. Only warning is that the parking is limited and the place is PACKED on Friday and Saturday nights. more

Great for Holidays 12/22/2005

Try Taste of India for holiday meals. We don't celebrate most major holidays of this country, so its nice to have somewhere to go for a good meal when all of our friends are off doing family stuff on those days. You could make a reservation to assure a spot, but we've never had a problem being seated and served immediately, even on busy days, since they have lots of space. This restaurant has exceptional food and service and usually has either a special dinner for holidays or a buffet. Its in the U District on Roosevelt right next to Half Price Books and has free parking in their lot (which is nice in that crowded area). more

Finish the water, I dare you. 12/12/2005

Many restaurants fail miserably when you need something simple like an extra napkin - a clean fork - etc. Not Taste of India. If ever you need something more to make your meal complete - simply drink more than 1/4 of your water glass - and a server will be there to refill it - and be available to solve your problem. Some of the food up the street at Bengal Tiger is better - but the service is lacking in comparison. The only only restaurant I've been to in Seattle with similar service is CJ's eatery. more

My Favorite Restaurant 12/8/2005

This has been my favorite restaurant for the three years since we discovered it. We've had exceptional meals dining there, and also from their delivery. The curries are tasty, the meats are tender, and they have tons of delicious dishes in all categories. Unlike another well-known Indian restaurant in that area, the food is never bland, and when you ask for spicy, it'll be spicy. The restaurant is clean and warm, and the staff is exceptionally friendly and attentive to your needs. They make you feel like an old friend and resected guest. There's a cozy cocktail lounge with a fireplace, and a romanticly lit dining room for a relaxed evening. If you love Indian food, you should definitely try it. more

Bottomless chai & butter chicken... 9/27/2005

Gotta love a place that keeps your cup of chai filled, with every refill as tasty as the first cup! Of course, drinking all that chai makes it tricky to eat all they yummy dishes, but somehow we manage to put away plenty of food. I love the butter chicken, and their garlic naan is fabulous! Servings appear small, but are actuallly surprisingly filling, and all that basmati rice doesn't hurt! more

My favorite Indian in Seattle 9/15/2005

For years I considered Cedars my favorite, but then someone turned me onto Taste of India. Rumor has it they are owned by the same family but there was some family fight and they opened two restaurants. Whatever the story, the food is great at both places, but the drama is lower at Taste of India. The crowds never seem as big and you don't feel as rushed. more

quality Indian food 9/5/2005

I like Taste of India because they've got fast service, and the food is tasty. I am a HUGE fan of Naan, and this place definately caters to my needs for Naan! Some enjoy the rice pudding thing they offer, but rice as a dessert isn't really my thing...I eat it when it's fried or with dinner! The tandor chicken is also rather tasty! Whatever you order, I'm sure you'll be happy! more

Indian food feels so good in my tummy 8/30/2005

I love Indian food, and this restaurant is fabulous when it comes to Indian food. I have to say the service is quick, food amazing, and everything is just so fine and dandy! Parking sucks, but if you are one of the 40,000+ University of Washington students, you should get your walking shoes on and head on over to the Taste of India, where you WILL taste India. Lamb equals the best and Nan is great too! more

Excellent Indian Restaurant 8/30/2005

I can firmly recommend this restaurant. Their food is tasty and served quickly. They're well known for their quick refills on chai tea and water. I've never had to wait for a table and service in general is speedy, though they don't rush you. One drawback is having to find parking on residential streets nearby. more

I would like a turkey slurpee 8/19/2005

Eat this food now. It is delicious and nutricious and cheap. Taste of India offers a nice clean environment, with truly excellent tasting food. They will spice it to your taste. A couple of favorites are the Vegetable Shahi Korma and the Paneer Mutter Masala. Also, Garlic Naan is a must. more

Basic, good Indian food 8/17/2005

I'm no great Indian food but it seems like it's easy to find a bad Indian restaurant, moderately easy to find a good one, and rare to find an excellent one. Taste of India easily falls into the higher end of the "good" category. All the dishes I've tried have been tasty and satisfying. We order takeout from Taste of India once a month or so and are always really happy to dig in to our Palak Masala with paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala in front of a movie at home. If you'd prefer to eat out, the restaurant is relatively casual, always bustling, and the staff are very attentive and friendly. Try the spinach naan... yum. more

Indian Food for Americans to Love 8/16/2005

I love Taste of India. My Indian fiancé hates the place. She claims the food isn't authentic, and I have to say, having not yet been to India, that she may be right. But I will say this: things can taste great without being authentic, and I think this food taste great. Really, I have yet to try a curry here I didn't like, and 2 specialty nans will easily fill you up. Another nice feature is the bottomless Chai. Fortunatley, caffine doesn't affect me very much, so unlike my friends I can drink a lot of this and enjoy the taste without suffering hypertension. more

Really Good Indian Food 3/10/2005

I'm not an expert when it comes to Indian food, but we've found that Taste of India on Roosevelt is consistently good and definately worth a try. It can be very popular as well, with people waiting outside the door. The management is very attentive and the service is surprising (maybe even overstaffed). This is our favorite Indian take-out and dine-in. Parking can be difficult and you may need to cross the street or find a side street. more
