Primorski Restaurant

I recently celebrated my 52nd birthday at Primorski. My wife made the reservations since she is russian and I am american and upon meeting the staff during the reservation process I was very impressed at how well my wife and I were greeted by the staff. During the evening on my birthday, we were greeted by Maya who was our server,From the moment she took us to our table, the evening unfolded like magic thanks to Maya. Maya's level of service was world class, the food was exceptional and the bottle service was incredible. The floor show was the best experience and dancing at Primorski is an experience everyone should have at this high calibre restaurant. This was the greatest birthday because the service flows like wine, always a delight and never a dull moment. Our server Maya made certain our dining experience went well and that we were satisfied. The dining is incredible and service from the staff is first rate, the music is unforgetable and musicians are very, very talented. This is my first time at Primorski and my loyalty begins and ends here from now on. Go to Primorski and get ready for the greatest Russian dining experience bar none. more

After a day at Coney Island, we ended up wandering hungrily around Brighton Beach. After being scared off by the steep prices at the various boardwalk cafes, we decided on the spur of the moment to give Primoski a try. I'd read online about Primorski's kitschy floor show, but I didn't know what to expect when it came to the food. Also I'm a vegetarian, which always causes trouble when my wife and I want to try a new, exotic restaurant. I'm pleased to report that Primorski has plenty of vegetarian-friendly fare, (although vegans won't feel quite so welcome). We had blintzes with jam & sour cream, fried potatoes with mushrooms, Lavash bread with garlic, fried Georgian cheese, and a platter featuring five different salads. We found everything delicious, with the exception of just one of the five salads, (a plate of pickled cherry tomatoes that struck our palates as more spoiled than pickled). My wife also ordered a plate of mussels, which she said were terrific. Other reviewers have complained about the service at Primorski, but I found the waiters to be attentive and helpful. Maybe this owes to the fact that we ate here on a Sunday night, when it wasn't especially crowded...? Prices were reasonable. Dinner for my wife, daughter and I came to $87, which includes a $25 bottle of wine, (which we should've skipped. Next time, it'll be vodka) My only beef with Primorski is that they've got their sound system cranked up to eleven. The Russian floor show, while cheesily charming, would be more charming if my ears didn't feel like they were being shelled by a T-34 tank. Pros: Tasty food, large portions, attentive service. In almost the center of Little Odessa ( a.k.a. Brighton Beach ) is Primorski. A nightclub, known for its copious buffets and flowing Vodka, but they are also open for lunch?or are they??? One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Amazing service, delicious food and if you like to try something new and unbelievably testy don't even think about it, you must try it at least ones. My husband and I enjoyed Russian Vodka (Putin by the way) with traditional Russian unforgettable meal. PRIMORSKI would be perfect for a date or for family event. WE will be back! more

I went here with my husband and friends on a weekday. Now, I'm an American, but my parents are from the USSR. I can understand Russian. The staff didn't know that, however. And as we waited for our food to arrive, two of them stood in the corner, SMOKING and talking in Russian about ""how best to rip off these stupid Americans"". Well, that they did, or at the very least tried to. When our food arrived (40 minutes later despite the fact that the place was nearly empty), it consisted of appetizers of questionable freshness and an ALREADY OPENED bottle of champagne. When we asked why the waiter didn't open it in front of us, he attempted to apologize in broken English and explain that he had made a mistake. He did not even offer to open another bottle, though! We had to ask for it, which they grumbled about in Russian (with nice smiles, assuming the ""stupid Americans"" only spoke English). Wait, it gets better. When the main course arrived, my Kiev-style cutlet (or whatever it was called) was COLD INSIDE. They obviously served us left-overs from last night's dinner, which they OBVIOUSLY microwaved. They did replace the food when I complained, but it took another 40 minutes or so. Oh, but it gets better! When the bill arrived, we discovered that we had been charged for two appetizers and one extra bottle of champagne (which of course, we did not order). By then positively not caring how many friends we made in that place, we complained. It took another HOUR to settle this matter. By the time we finally left the place we felt like we had just awakened from a particularly horrid nightmare. I'm just glad no one got sick from the so-called food. I don't know if this sort of rubbish flies in Moscow, but they better get it through their heads that it does not fly here, especially in NY. This place isn't just the worst Russian restaurant, it's the worst restaurant I've ever been to in my life (and I've even been to some in Russia proper!). It shouldn't be allowed to exist. I used to love this place, but the service is terrible, and most of the meal I ordered really had a bad taste to it. I was told that the restaurant was sold about 2 years ago, and hoped it would stay the same, unfortunatlly it hasn't. I went there for dinner, after which decided to have my bday party there. food is great, prices are descent, service is good, music is great. They also have a 3 course lunch special all week for $5. After my birthday party banquet, I've gone there many times with my friends and family. I definitely recommend it. If not for dinner, then definitely to try the $5 lunch menu. This restaurant is stuck in the past. Food is average, music is old and too loud. Its like a bad old movie. There are plenty of good Russian restaurants in the area. Do not waist your time on this one. more

I come here all the time. The food is awesome. Very cheesy wanna be romantic decor and entertainment, but have some vodka and you want to come right out onto the dance floor and dance the night away to a mix of really bad russian and american disco music. more

I love Russian food and Brighton Beach in Brooklyn is the place to be for fine Russian food. Primorski has it all! Great food, excellent service, beautiful girls and exciting music & entertainment. This place is such a find! Happened to stumble upon it during my first trip to Brighton Beach. Wasn't sure it was open at first, as it was nearly empty on a Thursday evening. But soon the ""live band"" (two Russian relics, one on keyboard/synthesizer the other on guitar) started playing - everything from polka-type tunes to 80s/90s pop (Wham!, Clapton, Sade). They were a scream! Just when I thought it couldn't get any more kitschy, the mirrorball started spinning, the rainbow disco lights started flashing, and the dry ice cast a dreamy fog over the dance floor! ...As for the food, it was delicious. Added bonus: Large portions. (Be sure to check out the ""picture"" portion of the menu!!) The Ukrainian borscht was second only to my dearly departed grandmothers. ... I really like this place. This is how I picture eating in Russia would be. Sure the service isn't the best but the food is tasty and the prices are great. There are many times when I have groups coming and visiting the city. Without fail, I always bring them to the Primorski for a Russian lunch. Their lunch menu is only $5! For the little that you pay, you get a huge taste of Russian cuisine, including the best borscht in town! If you travel to this restaraunt please be sure to order the Georgian Bread.
