Though I admit I'm partial to Tea Lounge, Naidre's is a solid second when I need a coffee or a tasty pastry.
I'd actually say Naidre's is better when it comes to pastries/desserts, as their selection moves more towards cookies and cakes, making it a better option if you want more than a scone or muffin. And the desserts ARE delicious - priced on-par with most NYC cafes ($5 bill required, more or less).
Naidre's seems to have avoided some of the hype that Tea Lounge has gotten, perhaps because it's more a "counter-and-a-couple-chairs" operation, rather than the expanse of couches and tables. It's a better option as an "on-the-go" bite of sugar and sip of coffee, rather than meeting your friends and sitting down for a long, slow evening.
All that said, the staff is friendly, the food is good, and if the line seems daunting at Tea Lounge, you'd be happy to go a block over to Naidre's (7th ave between 11th & 12th streets) and get a comparable product.
