Best

This is the best Greek food I've ever had (outside of my grandmother's home cooking). It's incredibly authentic and utterly delicious. Pros: amazing authentic food

Worst

This place is a dump. Food is awful. The only good thing is it is relatively cheap but there are so many better places to eat

The absolute best greek food! 6/9/2006

Oh my god! We have finally found our home. This is best greek food we have eaten in a long time. Huge portions, cheap prices, and a warm atmosphere. We oredered a big platter for two and we were not disappointed. Love your moussaka! keep up the good work myconos! We will be back more

Best Moussaka in San Francisco 5/26/2006

Kudos to Myconos! This is the best moussaka my tongue has had the pleasure of tasting, dare I say on the west coast ! The bechamel fluffy and seasond perfectly and not to leave out the fact that the portion was huge. The staff was attentive and friendly overall a nice little place. I have tried greek food up and down the west coast from L.A to Seattle and this is the best at a great value. Keep up the good work!! Pros: food , food, food Cons: parking more

Birthday to Remember! 5/25/2006

I just had a birthday party at myconos and wanted to say thankyou to everyone at myconos. From accomodating us to the great food and wine and ofcourse the dancing and plate breaking was amazing. Our friends and family loved this place and I think we made believers out of them! We will see you soon Thanks again for the wonderful evening! Pros: food, service, food more

good food - bad service (from the owner no less!) 5/18/2006

our waiter and bus person were actually very nice and attentive, it was the owner/server/cook - whatever - were just plain rude! we were seated in the back where the lighting was real low, I was with my in-laws who in their 80s, could not read the menu, we asked if they could turn up the lights just a bit, since there were no other people seated in the back. The owner got pissed and said no. WHAT?? At least the food is not bad. more

Ahhh Back in Greece!! 5/5/2006

Ahhh sun, sand, FOOD!Used citysearch and tried this place.Must tell you it sent us back to Greece instantly, upon entering the familiar scents of those little tavernas allover Greece the ones with the good stuff not the tourist traps. We live in the area and had never noticed it before. A real suprise to find this little jem in the heart of Polk Street. Keftedes appetizer outstanding. For main course my wife had the oven roasted chicken and I had the Lamb chops. Words would not do this justice. My wife loved the chicken, let me tell you about the chops. You get five large chops and the works! 18.95!!! Amazing! Wine list is all Greek, great selection. We were trading Greece stories with the owners and they ended up buying us dessert. All in all great place, great food, great value, and great service. Thank you Yorgos and Agathi! Pros: FOOD, VALUE, SERVICE more

Good value but stale food and service 4/20/2006

This could be a great hidden gem. Good menu, prices, fun atmosphere in a dive sort of way. The problem was two parts. First, we ordered their largest platter for two which seemed like a pretty good deal. However, when it came it looked like they put all their scraps on one plate. Everything was obviously old and either reheated or just room temperature. Meet was dried up and cold. The gyro meat was scary with a sauce attempting to cover up the age - it could not have been cut off the skewer that day. Mousaka was good but this is made to eat over several days anyway. We were both hungry but we ended up leaving about half the plate. We saw the waitress when we ordered and then only in the distance. Pros: cheap, easy to get table Cons: food cold and old, service not present more

great food great deal 2/22/2006

stumbled onto this little place by accident and was totaly in heaven. this place gets really busy, found out you can call for reservations ! people were friendly had a great time. Pros: food, deal, service Cons: parking, parking, parking more

What do we have to do to get waited on? 2/5/2006

The previous reviews about slow service were correct. We were seated and had to wait forever. Then two couples got seated after us and were waited on first. The server/owner checked on other tables but ours. Maybe it was because we were sitting in the back in a corner. Finally our food came. Pretty good deal for 2 people. Pros: food, good deal Cons: service more

Food was good, but do we have to beg for service? 1/21/2006

We were a big group. Since half of our group was coming from the south bay and there was heavy traffic they were late. It seems like the patrons did not like it, because they did not even come to ask if we wanted drinks! At one moment, the waiter gave us water, then he took it away because it was for another table! We asked for the waiter 3 times, and she would just walk by and tell us "I'll be there in a minute", which turned to be 15 mins or so. Pros: Good food Cons: Slow service more

Authentic, more or less 1/15/2006

Unusual presentation for spanekopeta appetizer. Big roll of filo stuffed with perfectly seasoned spinach, with crumbled feta cheese on top. I knocked the feta off. But it was very good and came fast and served with a small salad. The gyros plate came fast too, before I was fininished the appetizer. Huge pile of well seasoned cube steak tender meat on top of a pita bread, topped with garlic sauce. Huge pile of romain lettuce, a few tomatoes and feta cheese. Nice portion of "cottage" fries. Service is more European style, that is they take your order, bring it, then you don't see your waiter again unless you signal or call for them. Even so, it took almost 10 mins to get my check after I asked for it. Entire meal, with iced tea was under $15.00. Place is small. Pros: well seasoned food, big servings, great prices Cons: small place, European style servic, beggars on the corner more

Rude and not worth going to 11/28/2005

Walked in right before 9pm and was told that the kitchen was closed but it so obviously wasn't. Even worse was when they seated a couple after us! The owner was rude and didn't bother to apologize when confronted. There are much better places to go to in SF! more

A great little Greek place in SF 11/10/2005

My wife and I just happened to be walking by this place and decided to have dinner there. We were told it would be a 40 minute wait, but we only ended up waiting 15 minutes. Let's just say it would have been worth even if we would have had to wait the 40. The waitress was really friendly and the food very good - and big portions. Definately recommended!! Pros: Great food, Great service Cons: A bit small more

Consistently above my expectation 5/21/2005

One of my friends introduced me to this place. Since then Ive brought just about everyone to eat here. Amazing food. Absolutely delicious. Huge plates (I share and still leave completely full). I can not recommend highly enough. Pros: value, inexpensive more

As authentic as it gets 3/24/2005

I could have sworn I was in Greece. The surroundings were warm and comfortable and the food was fantastic. I tried the dolmathes and the gyro plate and ended up with more food than I could possibly eat so go hungry or be realistic. If you over order, no worries. The prices are fair and the value is far above what you pay. The staff is friendly and attentive. Also recommend the take out if you are in a hurry. The portions are exactly the same and the service is fast. Pros: Amazing Food, Great Setting, Excellent Service more

GREAT! 7/21/2004

This is a wonderful little place with excellent food and the service is over-the-top friendly. Great dishes all around - vegetarian and otherwise - and the atmosphere is charming and casual. Word of advice: Go hungry! The portions are enormous and you just can't seem to stop eating! Wash it all down with a glass of Retsina and your good to go! OPA! Pros: Wonderful dishes, great atmosphere more

Fantastic food and a great value! 5/26/2004

This is an amzing little restaurant that was recommended to us by a greek living in SF. The Gyros (in this case it's a mix of pork and seasoned ground lamb) or the Souflaki skewers (I doubt I spelled that right) are awsome. At a price of $9 for the Gyros for a huge portion, the value is more than you would expect! I didn't like the lemon flavored oven potatotes or the Moussaka too much, but the meat and some of the vegetarian dishes we tried were great. Pros: Meat, Value more

the best 8/6/2003

This restaurant was amazing. I went with my brother and some friends and we just walked down the street when the owner walked out and basically dragged us in! The food was incredible! I had the best lamb I have ever tasted. The service was great and would tell everyone I know to go here! more

Opa! 4/1/2003

This is a wonderful find. Very warm, friendly service, great food and lots of it. The vegetarian platter is huge and comprised of essentially every vegetarian Greek dish in existence. They don't serve alcohol but you're welcome to bring your own with no corkage fee. Great place! Pros: Great food, Good value, No corkage fee more
