The food here is excellent. I recommend the ahi tuna starter. The wild mushroom bisque they offered before the meal and the pastry tray they offered after the meal were excellent too. I ate at One Market on the same trip and while the food there was very good, Gary Danko was much better. I think it deserves more than one Michelin star.
Pros: Excellent food

I was fortunate enough as tourist, to be invited to dinner at Delfina by a dear friend who lives in the SanFrancisco area. It was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The service was top notch, the food exquisite as was the wine list. The eclectic ambience made it the perfect dining experience.

First of all, this is a high end restaurant, they take reservations, and most people go well dressed. I like to go to restaurants with great food but I do not like to dress up, and its nice to have the option to dress just "comfortable". The food is very good and up to what you expect at this price range. The service is good too, although I personally do not like to be asked how everything is while I have my mouth full. It is considered good service to check up on the customer so I guess they are just doing their job.
They always have something new on the menu and often redo their entire menu with new items. All in all, a typical dinner here with no wine and dessert will cost you about $75 per person. If that is in your price range for a special occasion or just because you want to have great food, I can certainly recommend The Farallon to you.
Pros: Good food
Cons: Price

This was our second time at Fleur De Lys, the first time being the one in Vegas. I found that the ambiance, as well as the service, was better in San Francisco. The restaurant basically uses a dinner format that allows you to choose how many "courses" you want, with the option of having each course paired with wine. You can go for 3, 4 or 5 courses.
There is a menu to help you build your courses, but what I would recommend to anyone is to tell your server to ask that the chef surprises you - of course, you have to be open to eating anything on the menu, but the chef does create a personalized menu where each course builds on the previous one.
Each plate is art - the taste, the pairing of the ingredients, the taste.... we were anticipating each course and it delivered each and every time.
The cost is high, especially with the pairing - but it is really an experience worth having.
Pros: Fantastic food
Cons: High price

What a great place to eat! I was there on a Saturday night and really enjoyed the Jazz. I happen to be a Spumante fiend and truly enjoyed the Ca? del Bosco ?Brut? Franciacorta, Lombardia.
We started with the Iron Roasted Skillet Mussels and Ahi Tuna Tartare with Green Olive Tapenade & Grilled Ciabatta as appatisers. Then we had the Mixed Grill for Two, which is a wonderful combination of Tai Snapper, Calamari, Mussles and Whole Shrimp. Then for desert you cannot miss having the Brown Sugar Corn Cake with Blueberry Basil Sorbetto & Fresh Blueberries -- it was out of this world!
For really GREAT service please be sure to ask for Jen -- she really makes this place ROCK.
Pros: Too many to list
Cons: Jen does not work on Monday or Tuesday ;-)

If you are in the mood for sheer luxury, head to this Financial District gem and treat yourself to some of the most amazing seafood in the country. Chef-owner Michael Mina gets rave reviews from local and national press for his perfect execution and artistry. The signature appetizer, Ahi Tuna paired with Foie Gras, may be an unusual combination, but you will savor every bite. Although the menu changes, each of the fresh fish dishes are sure to please even the most discerning gourmet. Do not come here on a budget though.
