Very experienced hairdresser 12/4/2010

Well in a couple of words, Mario Avila happens to be the best hair dresser i've ever met. He is very experienced as well as enthusiastic when it comes to doing hair and that is the best combination. Every time he does my hair i leave happy and more than satisfied. Moreover, there is no doubt that he is the man to go to, to get your hair done. hes the best!:) more

THE BEST! 12/2/2010

I have been to the ""best salons"" and guess what Mario is better than anyone I have gone to. I walked around with purple hair that was supposed to be red. Every hairdresser mad it worse. In a couple of hours with Mario it was fixed. He is great at hairsytling and color.\r He has even don updos on me. He is also so NICE. I mean it GO TO Mario. more

Without a doubt 11/28/2010

I have been going to Mario since 2001 and have to say he has become not just my hairstylist but a friend. I have seen him style all types, lengths, textures of hair and he has always done an amazing job. He is not a cookie cutter stylist - he takes the time to figure out what is best for the customer in both care, style and look. I would recommend him without hesitation more

He is a multitalented hairstylist who is able to transform your dull lackluster hair to a beautiful hairstyle suitable for your face while entertaining you with his insightful observations on life. He is empathetic, very knowledgeable on all subjects and is always willing to listen to his client's concerns. Mario is innovative, a color master and treats his clients with patience, good humor and his complete attention. You leave Mario's chair transformed and renewed. There is no one like Mario! more

don't miss Mario! 11/9/2010

Mario was one of the first, and definitely one of the best things I discovered when I moved to Brooklyn ten years ago. I've never gone to another hairdresser in that time, and I don't plan to. He makes my hair look better than anybody who has ever cut it, and he is delightful in the process. Prices are very reasonable, and Studio Feyzura is a really pleasant place to spend time. Check it out! more

Mario is a great and talented person. I love Mario very much because he always makes miracles with my hair. I know Mario for about 8 years and I always go to Mario to get my hair color, cut and he always gives me a new style. All I can Say is that he is very good at his work and to proof it now my 4 sister my mother and some friends go to Mario. I highly recommend Mario. more

A Fabulous Artist With Hair 11/6/2010

The most accurate thing I can say about Mario Avila is that he's the best thing that ever happened to my hair! I met him years ago and was very lucky to have done so. Actually, I'd been told about another person at the studio at which he used to work, but when I told her what I wanted she said, ""Oh, you should go to Mario. He's the best at that."" So I sat in his chair and have been sitting in his chair ever since. At first I just wanted a nice cut for my very unruly hair, and when I walked out of the salon I was more than satisfied. Not only did Mario do that for me, he also told me exactly what to do to maintain it. Over the years I've had my hair colored and highlighted and more -- he never pushed anything but always suggested when I questioned. The best moment came when I wanted ""something special"" for my son's wedding. Wow! He really came through for me.\r \r Add to all that Mario's wonderful personality. He's personable and funny. Every session with Mario is a good time with great results. You can't go wrong with Mario Avila. more

Extremely talented and knowledgeable in his craft 11/5/2010

Although Mario has not done my hair he is incredibly talented and works magic on his clients. I was able to observe him one day and was witness to the before and after of his clients hair. The way they looked afterwards was amazing, I was very impressed. In addition my friend who has been with Mario for several years was transformed incredibly she was someone who only colored her hair jet black now she has a gorgeous color designed by Mario, which leads me into my story. I also was fortunate that Mario consulted with my hairdresser on my haircolor which was a beautiful chocolate brown everyone of my friends and family loved it and so did I. He is awesome. more

Love MARIO and would follow him anywhere :) 11/5/2010

I was recommended to Mario through a woman I met at the WAT gym; she'd had her color done and it looked absolutely great and was telling other friends in the locker room about her stylist and I was looking to change stylists and needed a good coloring so I asked!! So glad I did! That was back in 2006 and he's been my go-to man ever since. Mario is wonderful and I've enjoyed him since we met. Highlights, blow-outs, single color (yes, got to cover my few greys!), cuts, and even this year we did a Keratin treatment which was great. I l always leave him looking great - wish I could take him with me to keep up the look!!! I have VERY long hair, and he manages it beautifully. He listens, he recommends, he performs. And he's got a great personality with a good sense of humor. If you are looking for someone to treat you right, see Mario... Mario, tu eres maravilloso!! Besos!! more

Hands Down THE best hairstylist, ever! 11/5/2010

So, I stumbled into this salon in Brooklyn Heights expecting high prices and that's not at all what I got. I can't believe how cheap this place is (I used to pay twice as much for my hair in upstate Rockland County) while still being very stylish and clean and friendly.\r \r I have a very tricky hairstyle, so when I explained what I needed done, they recommended Mario. My hair is almost shoulder length, thin, but they dye job is a two-man job, although Mario manages it to do it all by himself. It's naturally dirty ash blonde, but I have it bleached platnium (and he gets it platnium in one try! amazing!) But it also has black under the bangs and the whole underside of my head. He even managed to put in some red streaks one time which I loved! \r \r Mario is the sweetest person to work with, and always entertaining. He certainly has some stories to tell, and as any wonderful hairstylist, has a good ear for your stories as well. I highly recommend Mario for the awesome price (as I said I used to pay over $300 for my hair, and now I pay LESS than half, including the cut!), amazing job and service. more

From the age of 10 I have been styled, cut, colored and re-done over and over by Mario Avila. He is a trendsetter by far when it comes to hair, I always get complimented on the color of my hair and the cut. Mario knows how to work with what I am looking for and always adds his personal unique aesthetic to his work. Never have I been unsatisfied or dis pleased after the hard work and thought he puts into perfecting and satisfying me as his client. I am now 21 years old and wouldn't change Mario for anyone else. I highly recommend him to anyone who is serious about their image and believes in quality over quantity! more

I have been recommended to Mario by most of my neighbors in Bklyn Hgts, as we all know , people in Bklyn Hgts are very demanding in all the way, so, I decided to give it a chance, Mario welcomed me with a great smile and so nice disposition, we talked about what a wanted to achieve with my new look, we have a nice chat, in mean time he was working on my hair, the color, Highliths and Hair cut are so beautiful, I've had so many complements. I am so happy to have met Mario, i do thank all the people who recommended him to me. you can do the same , i am sure that you will so please by the whole experience. more

Bad Service & Major Attitude 8/4/2009

Mario was a half hour late for my appointment and didn't even apologize. He did not focus on my hair at all. He asked me about my dating habits and other personal questions which I was not in the least bit interested in answering. At one point I asked him to focus on what he was doing and he became visibly upset but thankfully quiet. My cut came out uneven and looked very amateurish. I learned my lesson never to go to Mario Avila. more

Mario is a great guy but Hair Profiles stinks!!!! 4/3/2009

He is no longer at that salon. Hair Profiles is dirty, staff is unprofessional and the owner doesn't care. They will try to push unnecessary products and services on you. If you go in for a trim, they want to dye your hair red, give you a mani-pedi and sell you some type of conditioner that you don't need. \r Went in to get slight trim and came out with chopped off hair!!! Will never go there ever again.\r Will follow Mario to his new salon. more

If you want natural-looking highlights, you've found the right man! 2/6/2009

Mario is a unique colorist. After a couple of bad color jobs I stayed away from coloring my hair. I saw Mario for a couple of years for just a wash and set. One day I explained to him my interest in coloring my hair again but hadn't due to the tainted history that led to complete fear and avoidance. He listened and then explained thoroughly the precise technique he uses and how he could ensure me he would be able to meet my expectations. He carefully worked with me- first discussing to clearly understand what I was looking for and then we sat down and selected the appropriate 3 colors. Yes, he used three colors- a honey, a brown/bronze, and a gold. He then took very small sections and laced the color deliberately throughout my hair. It took more time than a normal coloring would but well worth it. The result- the most natural look I've ever seen done with color. Highlights that don't look like highlights were put in. They looked like the natural highlights that many people have when the sun is beaming down all summer. Schedules and proximity took me away but I miss you very much Mario. more

Mario has a strong following and from my knowledge all of these positve reviews are real people.\r I own a small Children's Boutique in Cobble Hill Brooklyn and as a business owner I know for a fact that you can not please everyone. I'm sorry you had a poor experience and I wonder if that was the issue or are you more upset that you had to spend $200.00 ? Mario is the best for me, my georgous mother and my fabulous friends!!! I have been getting my hair colored and cut by Mario for almost a decade. I've had every color under the sun. One more beautiful than the next. If you don't know what you want, Mario will give you advice on what works best with your facial features and skin color. If you have your heart set on something, Mario will get you there. Either way your hair is in the hands of the master. Mario is truly a hair designer. He takes pride in every color and cut he does. He covers a range of styles from sophistication to the hottest trends. I highly recommend Mario! more

Great Hair Cut, every time 7/21/2008

A friend was encouraging me to use Mario years ago but I refused to believe that a haircut in Brooklyn could be as good as my highly expensive, well known Manhattan hairstylist, but when the latter suffered an injury a few years ago, I gave in and never regretted it for a second. My haircut was not as good but better!\r I get compliments from friends all the time and even strangers stop me on the street to ask me who cuts my hair (rarely happened before Mario). \r Over the years Mario has styled my hair different ways and every time I love it. \r An added bonus of getting a haircut from Mario is spending time with him. He is kind, funny, and smart. \r I have referred many people and each person has been happy. Pros: always look great after each hair cut more

I have been getting my hair done with Mario for about 5 years. And I would never change Mario. HE IS THE BEST.............. I highly recommend Mario he is very talented and professional. I'm always very happy for the changes that he does to my hair. Pros: shopping and restaurants Cons: Parking is hard to find. more
