Some of the Best and Reasonable 8/3/2003

Clementine, located on the ever-busy Clement street is a real treat. The environment feels warm and cozy and the service is great. The waiters/waitresses know quite alot about how the dishes are prepared. All the main courses are fantastic but the home-run hitter would be the rack of lamb. For dessert, it is mandatory that you order the carmelized French toast. It is possibly the most wonderful dessert in all of San Francisco. Pros: French Toast, Great Good, Great service Cons: Difficult Parking more

great service 7/7/2003

even though we had CONFIRMED reservations we were still hassled at the front desk, in fact people that arrived after us were seated before us. they tried to argue that we had 7:30 reservations, when in fact I had been confirmed for 8 pm. Very rude and annoying and acted as though it was our fault and not theirs. Luckily the rest of the evening was perfect Pros: service, food Cons: front desk attitude more

Excellent Dining Experience 6/11/2003

We had dinner at Clemintine last Sunday. The place was booked but we had a reservation. Service was professional warm and friendly. Food was spectacular. Will be back. Pros: Food, Service Cons: Crowded more

Wonderful 5/14/2003

Clementine offered a delicious dining experience. I didn't have reservations (definitely need those!) so ate in the bar. Still a wonderful experience. Can't wait to go back and eat at a regular table Pros: food, Service, Ambience Cons: Need Reservations! more

So french it hurts 3/6/2003

A spectacular evening, the way things should be: beyond just dinner, sometimes inspired, an evening to remember. Case in point, a warm chocloate cake that other restaurants should study: a delicate ring rather than a hockey puck blob, crisp outside, molden hot on the inside, flecked in powdered sugar before plating. We took tiny bites so it would last longer. The least expensive wine on the menu was delicious. The staff had lots of character, too much sometimes, very french but also very outgoing, helpful, and cheerful. Pros: Exceptional food, Reasonable price, Cozy atmosphere Cons: A little quirky more

Great FOOD! 3/3/2003

I went there with a friend for her birthday. The food was great, the service was excellent and the ambiance was beautiful. I will definitely go back. Pros: service, great food Cons: parking, wait, decor more

Best Birthday Dinner 1/15/2003

My fiance took me here for my birthday dinner and it was spectacular. It has great atmosphere, superb service, the best food in the city and well priced. Scallops with lobster risotto, talapia with beet risotto were both delicious. They even remembered a week after the reservation was made that it was my b-day (no reminding by fiance). The dessert I chose came out on a plate decorated with my name wishing a happy b-day and a candle. It was the carmelized french toast - tres yummy!! Apple tart was scrumptious too. To make the evening even more enjoyable (if that's possible) they gave me a very nice bottle of wine as a birthday gift. They really know how to do things right here. We could not have been happier with the whole evening. Thanks, D! And thanks, Clementine! Pros: great food, top-notch service, friendly more

Very friendly atmosphere 1/12/2003

This place has a very friendly atmosphere and a very charming decor. The servers are very attentive and friendly. Food is good, however some dishes are lacking flavor. Good desserts! But to some it up, it's an enjoyable experience. more

The best 1/9/2003

We celebrated our 40th anniversary with 50 people here. The people, food and total coopeeration is the best. Pros: personal attention, good prix fixe Cons: parking difficult more

Best meal yet 1/5/2003

My friend and I ate her last night. He was in the mood for steak frite and i had heard a little about Clementine's. It was undoubtedly the best meal I have had since I moved here 6 months ago. Great value, amazing flavor and great service. I cannot wait to go back! more

An amazing experience! 11/4/2002

I went on a Sunday evening on a whim. Though the place was packed, our waiter gave us superb service throughout the evening. He had great knowledge of wines made excellent recommendations to go with the food we ordered. The ambiance is intimate, the staff is most friendly, and you can tell its frequented by locales. Most importantly, the food was wonderful! I must say, I haven't had the opportuntity to lavish such praise for both food and service in a long time! Pros: great choices, knowledgeable staff, friendly service Cons: hard to park more

You would never expect a restaurant like this on Clement. Very cute, good food. more

food is good, but poor service 9/10/2002

The food is good, and their menu is affordable, especially with their early-bird specials. But service was a bit brusque which ruined the meal. Case in point-we ordered a bottle of wine, and the waiter gave us the wrong bottle, a 2000, not 1999 year as the wine list stated. He then proceeded to charge us the full amount for 1999 bottle, and resisted giving us a discount when we questioned the bill. Not sure i'll go back. more

Yikes~Pricey AND Yucky 9/9/2002

I was excited to eat at this French restaurant. Although it is does have an elegant and cozy ambiance, I have not gone back since my first visit. The service was great, waiters did not treat us like we were little kids, but the food was definitely not worth all that it costed. Some of the dishes were wayyy too salty for French food, while the others were completely bland and dry. I was not happy with my visit. more

It Doesn't Get Much Better... 8/18/2002

After reading the previous reviews, I was a little concerned that the restaurant could not live up to all that had been written about it. Boy, was I wrong. Clementine not only lived up to all the wonderful reviews, but it surpassed it. So here I am to add that this is an amazing little gem of a restaurant in such an unlikely neighborhood. Whether it is just two of you, or a group of 5, the food and service will simply amaze you. It doesn't get much better than this, even in San Francisco!!! more

Five Star Service 8/2/2002

I love Clementine's. It's full of charm with fresh flowers, SUPERB service and delicious food. This is a place you can hold a conversation or go for a romantic evening. Its unpretentious but classy. more

Fantastic Neighborhood French Restaurant 6/20/2002

My family was pleasantly surprised last night when we went to Clementine's. The service was SUPERB and the food was EXCELLENT. We are a tough crowd: my dad is a vegan and my grandfather is partially paralized and in a wheelchair. They were very accomodating with my dad's dietary requirements, and even offered to help cut up my grandpa's rack of lamb into bite size pieces for him. We are looking forward to going back many times! Pros: accomodating, excellent food Cons: parking more

Romantic! 5/21/2002

Great service, very romantic, very french. I would highly recommend it for a special evening. Pros: Romantic, Great Service, Delicious more
