Stumbled across this restaurant when we were walking down Clement St. So glad we did! The French food is amazing here. I recommend the escargo and with plenty of their fresh made bread, and their steak with pomme frites is to die for. The inside of the restaurant is very nice and the price isn't too bad. A great eat in the city!

A friend recommended that my husband and I go to Cafe Tiramisu for our anniversary, and we were more than pleasantly surprised. This jewel of a dining experience is tucked in an alley near SF's financial district, and features a palette-pleasing array of classic and not so classic Italian dishes. The service is attentive, yet not intrusive, and the wine list is reason to come back every week. I really can't say enough about this wonderful place. I look forward to returning very, very soon.
Pros: Homemade Pasta, Wine List, Service, Ambience

Cafe Andree is one of my favorite restaurants in the city.
Man Ray prints on the tables, bookcases and mirrors, comfortable seating, (never a wait) and friendly service: Kind of like eating in a rich friend's library, without the pretension. Very studiously, I have attended to the menu. It's Tapas-style (I LOVE small things served beautifully). I also love that romantic dining.
I won't complain to you about the Squash Blossom fritters: really unique, crunchy, and delicious. Or, the duck confit salad, or ahi tuna tartare with mango and and avocado: so fresh! The pumpkin, mushroom, marscapone ravioli is unbearably delicious -- large ravioli tucked in creamy sauce. And, I'm hesitant to admit this, should this favored restaurant get busier, but the chocolate cake is to die for! And it's quiet, unassuming, delightful dining.
Cafe Andree is located in the Hotel Rex, a small quaint hotel owned by Joie de Vivre Hospitality -- the name says it all... A joy to live, a joy to eat and drink!
Speaking of which, if you've got time before dinner, go lounge in the bar area (near the hotel check-in).I used to do this all the time when I first moved to the city; one of the best ways to know a city is to visit its hotels. That said, the lounge area has plump sofas and chairs, big tables 1920's style, kind service, and good drinks: perfect for after work drinks, dates, or moments post-shopping on Powell. Sometimes, they have performances in the room to the right, which is perfect if you want some time to lounge. Ahh, the joys of the city!

Walked into Tu Lan and ordered my usual at every Vietnamese joint I've been to since I was a kid-- rice noodles with charboiled pork and eggrolls or, here at Tu Lan, the number 17: Pork kebabs with imperial rolls over rice noodles. A great dish that's seen its days on Julia Child's plate, apparently. Food came out in less than 3 minutes. It's in and out here, folks. Don't sit around and shoot the bull too long here because they'll wait around for you to leave so they can usher in the next lucky ones in that long line during dinner hours. Good prices, good food, though my friend's noodle dish was a little too salty. I'd eat here every day if I knew my cholesteral could take all that fried goodness...
Pros: food, quick service, the #17
Cons: small

This ain't no burrito joint - ain't no taqueria. It's where you want to go for grand mexican food. We went there expecting a lot, and were pleasantly surprised to get more than we expected. The guac was fresh, spicy and just perfect. The Chilli Rellenos were the best I've ever had, and the red snapper was the freshest I've ever had in San Francisco. Even the variety of drinks impressed my fiance, and added to the excellent meal we were already enjoying. Two thumbs up big!!! I highly recommend it. Please make reservations to avoid a wait. The service is so-so, but overall makes for a great evening.
Pros: Excellent food - fresh and tasty
Cons: Service is kamsi-kamsa

The prix fixe is a great deal, especially for French food in this city. Service and ambiance are good and if you are lucky enough to be seated on the patio it is hard to find a more romantic place in town. My boyfriend and I have been here several times and we always leave smiling.
Pros: beautiful patio, great value
Cons: parking is iffy but worth a walk

I finally got the chance to check out this place on a Monday night and had a great experience overall. Cool decor that I bet would be even cooler when it's hopping. Friendly service. Most importantly, fresh generous rolls. The sake tastings were a terrific as well. Definitely going back to hang out in the bar area and eat there again. Oh yeah, easy parking - they have a small lot!
Pros: fresh sushi, friendly service, cool decor

Really interesting cuisine presented with care and pride and concern for our enjoyment. Comfortable surroundings. (Had it not been for the woman at the next table saying "Chay PanEE Chay PANEE" it would have been perfect!)
Pros: Soft, nice atmosphere; interesting food
Cons: I found none

We had such a great time at his restaurant from beginning to end. Warm, friendly staff greeted us, great bartender mixed us some unique drinks and the food and service were really right on. It's upscale but not fine dining stuffy which I enjoy. Gotta try the lamb and the server took such great care of us.
Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere
