A PARK SLOPE TREASURE 4/10/2011

I highly recommend checking out Belleville Bistro. I have lived in this neighborhood for 11 years, and had been to Belleville in the past and enjoyed myself but something was missing. BUT in the last year the chef has really stepped it up by tweaking the menu and bringing in his own management staff. This was the missing link. Now, this place is not to be missed. Consistently delicious - beautiful - fun & classy yet relaxed - it is always a memorable & special experience dining at Belleville. It never fails to impress my guests and they always want to return. I feel extremely fortunate that our hood has this gem. Check it out for yourself! more

Great Night! 5/18/2010

We had the best dinner ever here. Not only was the food fantastic, the service was also very accommodating. We even got to enjoy some fantastic music after dinner in the lounge. Really great time here, worth going... especially if they keep that prix fixe menu! Pros: great desserts and great ports! Cons: none. really. more

tasty food 4/17/2010

Waited although we had reservations, but the owner felt bad and sent us some free food.\r Salad was uninspired just plain mesclun on a plate but the gnocci was creative as was the fish and the risotto. The chocolate mousse was yummy, the valhrona chocolate cake was fair. The service was good, attentive but not overwhelming. Pros: cute french bistro feel Cons: wine and beer only more

food good, service lacking 3/18/2010

We waited more than 1/2 hour after we asked for dessert for it to be delivered (had already waited 20 min.after entree plates were cleared enoying wine before we asked). So we asked for it to go and they gave us 2 large containers--wow, we thought they were making it up to us and we added a few dollars to the 15% tip. When we got home, they had split one small piece in 2.\r The food is always good but service is spotty. Pros: the menu is interesting and tasty Cons: service was slooow more

Cozy, unpretentious bistro 10/15/2009

This place is SOOOOOOO cute! The service is on point. The atmosphere is really charming. The food...DELISH!! Their wine selection is great and the pricing is definitely very, very fair. We left stuffed, happy and in total food coma!!! Pros: Inexpensive! Cons: Actually pretty pleased with everything. more

Great French Restaurant in Park Slopes 10/14/2009

The atmosphere, the meal, the prices.... There is something for everyone and...affordable too. We couldn't have asked for better service and a great meal. Pros: Great Service Cons: none that I could see more

Favorite Neighborhood Restaurant/Lounge 10/3/2009

The Belleville is, hands down, my favorite place in Park Slope for great food, drinks, and awesome, laid-back entertainment. \r \r Everything on the menu is wonderful, and the restaurant's main space is great for leisurely chatting with friends for as long as you feel like staying. The staff has always made me feel welcome and part of the neighborhood.\r \r The Belleville Lounge, right in back of the restaurant, also serves food and drink, plus has various storytelling and stand-up shows that are always very casual, personal, and a great way to spend an evening. \r \r Kudos to the management and staff for running such a great operation. Pros: Friendly staff, excellent food, great space more

Closed on a Friday night in the summer?!? 7/10/2009

I think it's in bad taste to close an entire restaurant on a Friday night in the middle of summer! I hope they're charging the people who rented it out a small fortune. \r \r Very disappointed as I made plans with a friend to go there tonight, and now I will not have the opportunity to visit this restaurant in my neighborhood for a long time, if ever, mostly because I'm disappointed and skeptical.\r \r Je suis très déçu, c'est inacceptable. Pros: wouldn't know Cons: closed on a Friday night more

Wonderful food and service! 4/2/2009

I really enjoy my time at Belleville. The food is delicious (the hanger steak is exceptional!) and the staff is very nice and friendly. Their prices are wonderful and I recommend the ever-changing pre-fix dinner. I spent my Valentines Day here and had a great time. Pros: great pre-fix menu, friendly staff Cons: a little noisy more

Our new favorite French Bistro! 1/30/2009

...and one of the best in New York!\r Fabulous food, fun hip atmosphere. great wine list. We felt like we were in Paris.\r Been there over 12 times and each time we discover something new we love. The Fresh daily made pate is a must, and the desserts, my husband and I can't pass them up...they are so french, light and wonderful. \r We heard they were opening a wine and tapas bar. We can't wait\r Monique & Guy more

Just what a French Bistro should be! 1/17/2009

Returned after not having been for at least a year or more and it's still great! Needed a quick light meal after a day of shopping and having had a late lunch. We shared a salad and each had entree's. DW had the scallops and I had the skate. Amazing perfecty cooked full of flavor and very nicely plated. A bottle of wine and we were all set. Both of us saying we couldn't believe we waited so long to return. We'll be back sooner rather than later. Also felt the prices were very reasonable. Pros: Great Food, good service, pleasant ambiance Cons: We don't live in Brooklyn more

BELLEVILLE IS AWESOME! 10/19/2008

I went to Belleville about 2 weeks ago, and when me and my friends were trying to decide on where to this weekend I couldn't help but suggest Belleville. I guess my friends had been there in the past because they said it was completely different. Anyway, everyone loved it again. Our waiter got us excited talking about their new lounge opening up too. It looks like Park Slope is slowly turning into Brooklyn's version of Chelsea with Belleville, their new lounge, Excelsior and Gingers all on the same block! \r As for the food, I surrendered to ordering what I had last time which were the mussels and duck. Again, they were great. Pros: hot staff Cons: actually, nothing more

Wonderful French Restaurant 5/24/2008

We love this place and visit it on a fairly regular basis. The atmosphere is wonderful, the wine list extensive, and the food is fantastic. We also love the staff as they have always been friendly and helpful. The owner is often on hand to make sure everything is taken care of. A really great neighborhood spot! more

Beautiful Experience 5/22/2008

I was in Belleville 3 or 4 times before, always on winter.\r This is the first time I went to Belleville and the front is open. No doubt this is one of the most beautiful and charming places in Brooklyn. We got a table right on the corner on the front. The food it was amazing I got the roasted pork with the blackberry sauce, to die for, and my boyfriend got the Filet Mignon d? Agneau with a bottle of excellent and affordable Cahors. The services was great and very friendly. We will be back for brunch. Pros: Food, Service, Price more

Worst service, mediocre food 4/23/2008

Hello? Hello? Is there anybody here? We were not greeted, not seated, not even looked at for a good 5 minutes. Service stinks, and the food was mediocre at best. NEVER go back! Cons: rude service, crappy food, more

Horrible Service & Food. They are over! 3/25/2008

This place has gone waaaay downhill in what seems like just 6 months. \r I?ve been there about 5 times over the past year and the last two times the service was hideous and the food was below average. \r \r There are many new members of the wait staff and they're just not being trained properly. \r I knew something was wrong when my companion and I waited and waited by the door to be acknowledged. The restaurant was not that full and the rush of super cold air blasting in when we opened the door should have been a clue that new customers have arrived. It wasn?t for this staff. \r \r The wait for the food was way too long given the early hour. When it arrived we found out why; it had apparently been sitting in the kitchen somewhere. The sauces had slightly congealed on the plate. The food was room temperature and bland. \r \r My steak was hidden under a pile of cold onions that have never appeared on my plate in the past. (I?ve had this dish a few times here) The too heavy sauce was obviously meant to conceal the pedestrian nature of the food. The cold fries were mushy and not really edible, but they did cover more then half the plate.\r \r It took us a while to shake off the horrible experience, a few beers helped, but we decided that was the last chance they get. It?s simply not worth the costs to risk another horrible meal in what was once an acceptable restaurant. \r \r Avoid this place! Don?t live with regret!\r Pros: It's Close Cons: It's Too Close!!! more

WORST MEAL EVER! 3/9/2008

I had the lobster ravioli as an appetizer. The pasta was tough. The filling and sauce were cold. I ordered the sirloin steak. It was 23.00 and the steak was as small as a thumbnail. The service was awful. Noone asked how my meal was and they took their time bringing out the food. DO NOT WASTE UR TIME OR MONEY HERE! Cons: EXPENSIVE, BAD FOOD, POOR SERVICE. more
