My family ate here last weekend. The food and service were fine, however the maitre-D was incredibly unwelcoming and arrogant. While finishing our meals which included a high-end ...

Al Di La 5/18/2006

Cozy Italian joint with long waits. The food is good and the atmosphere is well suited to fall and winter meals. But I just don't get all the fuss? I guess Brooklynites swoon over B+ food. The wine list is solid and frankly I prefer the small café, Al Di La Vino, next store. Less fuss and attitude. Don't dare and try to walk in on a weekend. more

Charming Italian place 9/17/2005

One of the pioneers on the now-emerged restaurant strip of Fifth Avenue in Park Slope. A well-chosen, if not extensive menu, based on available market ingredients. A decently-priced wine list, with an option for carafes of house white or house red. Tables are close together, but people are friendly. No reservations, so come early, or you'll wait at the wine bar next door. I had heard they didn't take credit cards a while back, but they do now. more

Good Northern Italian 8/18/2005

I have been here four times in the past year and have been very happy with the food, the wine, and, for the most part, the service. The place has a nice aesthetic. Although it's all pretty good, I think their homemade pastas are a much better pick than the main dishes, particularly the beet filled ravioli. I will definitely go back. more

If you can make it through the curtain... 8/15/2005

...you're golden. The only less-than-perfect part of an *amazing* dining experience is getting into the restaurant! That curtain is heavy and there's always a crowd of other folks who want that yummy stuff just as much as you do, so you're bound to bang into one of them as you come through. But hey, it keeps the cold out, the heat out, the bugs out. And great ambiance in. Order *meat*!!! All of their food is good, but their best fare is their duck or red meat. Been here dozens of times and have *yet* to have anything short of perfect. And if the wait is long, no worries; their adjoining wine bar next door is great, and you can have your drinks bought to your table when ready! more
