Play Meets Science 11/30/2006

The Science Museum of Minnesota is a perfect combination of education and entertainment. Although admission and parking are pricey, this is one place definitely worth checking out. The museum allows you to explore various hands-on exhibits, displays and presentations involving natural history, technology and the sciences. The environment is fun and interactive, and a place people of all ages can learn from and enjoy. One of the nations largest dinosaur exhibits, the Omnitheater, a conservation center, the Bloodstream Superhighway and a virtual boat ride down the Mississippi River are among the dozens of attractions the Science Museum of Minnesota has to offer. more

SMM.ORG 10/6/2006

We love the Science Museum of Minnesota! They have wonderful permanant attractions like the Art Park and Mini Golf, Dinosaurs, Mummy, Electricity etc... and at least 1 rotating main attraction. Currently it is Body Worlds. [Incidentally, this one is pretty gross, I didn't care for it]. They also have the Omni Theater which is amazing for watching educational films and documentaries. There are great deals for free & cheap admision too! Of course check your local library for the free museum pass but also, if your family has Minnesota Care for Health insurance or if anyone receives WIC- you are entitles to a free membership that charges only $1 a person admission. more

Omnitheatre 9/19/2006

The Omnitheatre is located inside the Science Musuem in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The Omnitheatre is a theatre that wraps around you and above you, forming a circle of a screen. It starts out as a IMAX scren and converts into an omnitheatre. They show educational films, everything from wild prairies to underwater adventures. The action and movement of these movies are truly fascinating. This theatre is not for the faint of heart, however! If you get motion sickness, you may get sick from the movement on the screen. The nature of the screen's configuration makes you feel like you are moving, too! more

Must see 4/16/2006

I remember the first time I saw the omni theater. I was visiting the Twin Cities from Iowa and my brother took me. I think the movie was about the artic ( this was 25 years ago) It made a wonderful impression on me then, and I know it will make a great impression on anyone new to the experience now. It feels like you are in the movie. I recommend it especially for any of the nature themed movies they have. more

Great way to see a movie 4/14/2006

But not so good if you're subject to dizziness. I do have issues with all IMAX movies, but the experience I had at the OmniTheater was great. We saw the movie about the Nile, and there were only a few times I had to close my eyes. It's certainly a different experience and one everyone should try at least once! more

Floors of great fun! 3/16/2006

If you're a tactile person, this is the place for you to go. There are at least four floors of awesome fun awaiting you at the Minneapolis Science Museum. For kids, there are many activities to engage in and learn about. For adults, there are still many fun things to do. There is an IMAX available. One of the more enjoyable activities was the ping pong ball structure located in one of the restaurants. We had so much fun throwing our ping pong balls into the air! There is so much to do here that it is important to leave a few hours to absorb it all. Also, there is an additional fee to park. Finding the place can be difficult so have a good map handy. more

Science Museum of Minnesota 8/29/2005

I would recommend Science Museum of Minnesota to both children and adults. Granted, most exhibits are catering to children – but adults will find plenty of things to do and learn as well. Plus, the museum changes its future exhibits often enough, so it’s never really the same place again. I especially love their musical stairs… what fun to jump on when no one is watching. more

great place to take your family 8/21/2005

The science museum is a great place to take your family, there are so many interesting exhibits that both children and adults will enjoy. The experience was wonderful for everyone. There is a lot to learn about many science things from breeding a dog, steering a barge to learning about the human body. I would definitely recommend going to the science museum more

Great Museum 8/19/2005

I have always loved the Science Museum of Minnesota, but it's especially great now that they built a new building. The exhibits are amazing, the Omnitheater is great and it's fun to see a show there. To go the the Omnitheater and the exhibits it's only $13.00 and it's literally an all day attraction. Definately a must see if you've never been there. more

Should be called Children's Museum 8/18/2005

The Science Museum of Minnesota is a good place to take your kids. It also has an Omnimax theater, which is definitely fun if it is playing a good movie. However, if you don’t have kids or a hankerin’ for a movie, don’t go there. It is another example of a museum that is completely geared toward children. There is hardly a single exhibit there, which can hold the interest of an adult for more than two minutes. It would be more accurately called The Children’s Museum, but I guess they already have one of those in town. more

Fun for everyone! 8/18/2005

The Science Museum is a great place for young and old. Their new location and new building are great. They always have good dinosaur exhibits and usually feature a traveling exhibit, so you will see something new every time. I recently went to an event that rented one of their meeting rooms and was very impressed as well. more

Informative! 8/18/2005

The Science Museum of Minnesota offers information on everything science. There are many different exhibits, an Imax theatre, and seasonal activities. However, viewing the same exhibits multiple times ca become boring, so it is not always good for return visits. The Imax theatre, however, changes regularly, and offers many interesting information. The newest activities, added in 2005 offer mini-golf, a maze, and gold mining. more

Science Museum 8/17/2005

This is one of the great places to go in St Paul. The Science Museum moved into a larger building a few years ago and it was worth it! I've always been a big fan of the dinosaur exhibit. They have lots of bones in the basement and i'm always wowed when i go down there. Another highlight is the IMAX screen. It's one of the few screens that can convert itself to an Omnitheater set up for certain movies. They show some great science films that are always worth seeing. more

Great place for the family 8/17/2005

The Science Museum of Minnesota, located on the riverfront in downtown St. Paul, is a fabulous place to go with friend or with family. There are a number of exhibits, all of which will appeal to children, such as their current "Animal Grossology" exhibit, which explains many gross animal characteristics in detail. Despite many obviously child-oriented exhibits, which can become tedious to older audiences, the Science Museum is still extremely entertaining, mainly because of its many classic exhibits on ancient peoples and extinct animals. There is also an IMAX theater, which has shows several times a day. more

Fun for all ages 8/16/2005

My husband and I recently visited the Science Museum of MN. It has been years since either of us last visited so we were unsure if we would still be interested in their exhibits. We found it to be enjoyable for all ages with hands on experiments available for all. The science museum also has a spectacular omni theater as well as mini golf course on the property. There is enough to provide people many hours of enjoyment. more

Fun trip 8/13/2005

This is a great place to visit for anyone but especially families. The kids will be entertained for hours and not even be aware that they are learning. The options for food are pretty good too. For the adults, there is plenty that is interesting and educational but what I like best is the view of the outside from both inside and outside on the terrace. more

Very fun!!! 8/10/2005

I have been coming to the Science Museum of MN for years! I have great memories of going there as a child. I have also gone there for group outings as an adult. My husband and I also can't wait to take out daughter here! There are a ton of activities for kids - but adults will love it too! The Omnitheatre is also a ton of fun! They have such great movies there - even if you don't like documentaries - the Omnitheatre makes them fun and exciting! more

Fun for all ages 8/6/2005

The science museum is usually a fun place to visit, with lots to see and do. It can get very crowded which makes it challenging to view exhibits and do some of the hands-on activities, but that is the only negative. Other than that, I would highly recommend it. There is also a small cafe, shop, and the Omni theater located within the museum. The Omni theater alone is reason enough to visit. The science museum also offers various computer classes for adults, and the teachers there are excellent. more

Love it 8/5/2005

I love going to this science museum. They have different themes every once in a while. One time it was a circus theme, and they had a big tight-rope that you could go on... with a harness. There are a ton of hands on activities that are fun for all ages. I would reccomend going here over any other museum. more
