Saigon Restaurant is a low key, family-owned restaurant with exceptional food, such as: pho (hot rice noodle), vermacelli (cold rice noodle salad) and customer's all time favorite Vietnamese sandwiches at a reasonable price; nothing is over $10 on the menu. Trying to find this place may be difficult because it is VERY easy to miss due to the big buildings surrounding it. I have missed it a couple of times though I've been there 10 times before. The exterior resembles an old wrecked shack that was taken from a lost island. The interior is very small and probably doesn't seat more than 100 people but not to worry because the wait is usually pretty short. All the times I've been there, the longest I have had to wait was 5 minutes. For first timers, you may feel a little bit out of place at first, but the environment here is totally friendly: customer's are minding their own businesses and mainly just enjoying their food.

I have only gone to the Breadsmith a few times, but every time I left with a belly full of delicious carbs and gluten. I love bread like this, it is absolutely perfect. It is hearty, and tasty.
It is also connected to a Jamba Juice. I usually go and get a smoothie then a few rolls of bread. It makes a great meal, inexpensive too! Only downside is location, it's hard to find parking on Grand most of the time since it is such a popular area.
There is also a coffee shop next door if you want a latte with your bread.

Cafe Latte is one of the best places to get desserts in the Twin Cities. It is conveniently located off of Grand and Victoria in St. Paul. There is some street parking available, but also an affordable ramp close by. The neighborhood also has great shopping.
Cafe Latte serves a wide variety of desserts, salads, sandwiches and coffee drinks. I've never been disappointed. Though crowded, I've never had a problem finding a seat in their cafeteria style dining area.
Their desserts are also available to go, so you can bring home a whole cake for an event.
If you haven't tried it, definitely go! It's a must-see in St. Paul!

The Wuollet Bakery is a wonderful place. They have three locations that I know of. You can find their wonderful bakery goods in Saint Paul, on Grand Avenue, next to the whimsical Bibelot, in Minneapolis, in Uptown, and in White Bear Lake next to Good Things.
Nearly I enter Wuollet's I order a cupcake and Coke. First of all, the Coke is bottled, and Coke is best in a bottle, you'll have to trust me on that. Second of all, the cupcake, the great cupcake. Each cupcake is topped with a heaping amount of their wonderful frosting. You'll have to try it. Although I enjoy chocolate, I have found that the white cupcakes are best. I'm not entirely sure why, but they are. It seems that their white cake is more moist than their chocolate, and slightly more fluffy. The chocolate cake, from my limited experience (I'd guess 20-25 cupcake-coke visits) is often dryer and dense. Additionally, I have ordered a cake in the past, which was good, but for some reason, the cupcakes are better. Lastly, I would like to mention I have purchased a small amount of Christmas cookies there, in a weak moment a couple of years ago, and they are equally delightful as their cupcakes.
If you would like to enjoy Wuollet's in all it's glory, here is how it should be:
Plan a girls' day.
Pull out the jeans that fit just right, your tall boots that make you feel stylish, your pea coat or knee length long coat and a cute hat. Enjoy what Grand Avenue has to offer: fun shops, great eats, nice people. Stop in and purchase a white cupcake, lavishly topped with white frosting, drizzled with chocolate with a Coke and yes, you would like it opened. Sit down over at the high tables, near the window and enjoy the warm atmosphere. If enjoying this outing during the Christmas season, beginning singing...city sidewalks, busy sidewalks, dressed in holiday style....
:) enjoy!

I like the atmosphere there. I can bring my laptop and find a small table so I can spend some weekend afternoon there. Just it's always crowded at weekends, so it's not that quiet as you would expect. But then it becomes an advantage if you want make some friends there. I particularly like the deserts there and coffee is just so so.

Coffee News Cafe, located on Grand Avenue in St. Paul, is a so-so coffee experience. Their food is pretty good, but expensive, and their coffee is acidic. If you like lattes, this is probably not the place for you, as their quality varies by employee (I tend to get way too much syrup in mine). They do, however, carry Natures Nectars juices, which are very good, and they have a wide variety of really good dessert options, including Baklava.

Granny's doughnuts is the ultimate when it comes to pastries! I can no longer eat gas station pastries, because Granny's doughnuts has outdone anything... I even like them better than krispy kremes. The staff there are friendly, the place is small and quaint. Usually the person behind the counter will throw an extra doughnut or two in for just a little extra, so we constantly get good deals. I also like the coffee, and I'm not much of a coffee person. I crave Granny's doughnuts... where are my car keys??
