Artemisia florist completely screwed up flowers for my wedding, only one boutonniere was as ordered out of entire order. Wrong colors were used, filler ordered was not used, roses were small (for that variety) and not very fresh. Bouquets were not arranged as ordered. I gave her a picture for bridesmaid’s bouquet (very simple) and asked if she can copy it - and she said yes, but the bouquet looked nothing like a picture! How unprofessional. Don’t gamble with your money – there are many better florists in Minneapolis.

Aspen Waste is the least expensive and the easiest to work with waste remover available in my area. When calling customer service, you actually get to talk to a real live person, friendly and helpful, explaining things well and not trying to upsell. They care what’s convenient for you, instead of what’s convenient for them. I don’t have a single complaint, they are always on time. Make sure to ask about new customer special – you get 2 or 3 months free with a new contract.

Bread from Turtle Bread Company is something I buy whenever I get a chance, it’s just sooo good. The main problem is to choose which variety to take home that day… so many to choose from. Their soups and sandwiches are also great, and they have one of the largest selections of soups every day, including vegetarian and vegan. When it’s not crowded, Turtle Bread is cozy and comforting place to be, great for reading or hanging out with family.

This would be the perfect gym for someone who is looking for a small, very clean, quiet, well-equipped club with super-friendly staff and good group classes (including kids’ group classes). This gym has anything one may look for in a health club, except for the pool. All the equipment is in perfect condition. Towel service is complementary, and so are lockers. I’m very impressed with the service so far.

Quest is one of my favorite night clubs – not because of the names they draw, but because of the bands that play there regularly. This club usually has pretty nice crowd (to my taste, at least), and I do like the layout. A little while ago the club had its floors redone – very nice, especially if you feel like dancing. Staff is not rude and parking is pretty convenient. I’ll keep coming back.

I used to like First Avenue much better just a few years ago. They don’t seem to have shows and crowds as good anymore – not sure if it’s related to the reorganization they had or not. It’s never been a “nice and classy” place, but it was cool. I’m hoping that First Avenue is just having a bad couple of years and that it will get back on track again – that would be a pity if this place went out of business.

Como Park is well maintained for a public park, and Como Zoo is one of our favorite family outing spots. It’s a smaller zoo than Minnesota Zoo – therefore, it’s not quite as overwhelming to visit when you don’t have a whole day allocated to that. Gorillas are always entertaining, lions sometimes have kittens on display, but our favorites are polar bears. Best of all, Como Zoo can be visited for a donation – or for free.

Sebastian Joe’s is famous for homemade, all natural ice cream. They will give you samples if you’re not sure what flavor you’d like – and flavors can be quite adventurous. To me their ice cream tastes just fine, probably not as good as Sonny’s, but better than many commercial brands. This place is really busy in summer, partly because of its convenient location, but mostly because of regulars. You have to try this place at least once, especially if you have children.

Southern Theater is a real treat for dance lovers in Minneapolis. Southern shows all genres of dance, from Indian to Flamenco to Jazz to Ballroom, trying to showcase local artists. What a huge contribution to Twin Cities’ cultural life. Southern has a wonderful atmosphere, it’s relatively small and very cozy. If you go once, you’ll keep coming back – so might as well get a membership with all the perks. Oh, they also give students a small discount on tickets.

I can't speak highly enough of my experience with this caterer. We had a wedding at Blaisdell Manor (the venue they own) and everything was just beautiful. Our guests still keep talking about how good the food was; but most importantly, this vendor is very easy and pleasant to work with, reliable and responsible. Employees are just superb. Highly recommend for any occasion.
