I attended Sunny Hollow from Pre-K through 1st grade, at which point the 1st-3rd grade programs were cut, and the school was downsized to Pre-K through Kindergarten. I was reluctantly forced to attend school elsewhere. 15 years and a bachelor's degree later, I still consider this school to be the best educational experience of my life.
Montessori schooling was the ideal learning environment for me. The teaching at Sunny Hollow was personalized and exceptional. I was allowed to explore independently, work creatively, and learn at my own pace. This learning style does not encourage laziness, but rather enables students to reach their maximum potential. When I was moved to a "prestigious" private school in 2nd grade, my math and reading skills were at the 4th grade level. Unfortunately, my new school had no program to accomodate advanced students. The teachers were far more concerned with herding students around in single-file lines and maintaining a common, low set of standards for everyone. My educational progress was kept in limbo for the next two years.
If you have the means, you owe it to your children to send them to Sunny Hollow. They will never want to leave.

This school has an excellent reputation for its quality education of students. Children of all religions are welcome and financial assistance is available for those who might not be able to afford to attend. The teachers are caring and work well with parents to guide the educational progress of the students. Basic subjects are emphasized but the arts, music, and physical fitness are part of the curriculum too. A hot lunch program is available for all students. Busing is provided by the school district.

I went to High school at Mounds view and Irondale. MV was the better of the two, I thought. Irondale had better facilities- it was newer. But the actual education wasn’t as good. Everyone I know that went to both schools thought MV was better. If you live in the Mounds View School District, I think Mounds view is the high school to go to.

Great early childhood programs where the parents learn too. The children and parents spend part of the time together and part of the time separated. Parents learn about development, temperment and other parenting issues while the kids play. The district also has great community ed offerings including swimming, gymnastics and dance. Very affordable.

More
Located in downtown St. Paul, KinderCare Learning Center offers care to children from 6 weeks to 12 years. The director and caregivers are all very friendly and well-qualified. The center is NAEYC accredited. The environment is very open and there is a lot for the children to play with and experience. My one complaint is that the individual rooms are only separated by walls that are a few feet high. Therefore, the whole center is pretty noisy. Despite the noise level, the children seem to be happy and are treated with respect, which is what matters most!
