Best

I absolutely love Mezes. I'd even go so far as to say that it's my favorite restaurant in San Francisco and I think that's a pretty big compliment in a city full of great restaura...

I moved recently from Boston to SF. I love Greek cuisine, and love hole in the wall restaurants. I noticed Mezes one day when I was walking in Marina. It looked just like the ty...

Big Plates 10/17/2003

I heard this was a small plate restaurant, but the appetizer portions are really big. We over-ordered with our 5 choices. They were all extremely tasty. My personal favorite was the stuffed eggplant. We also tried the tzatziki w/ pita, the fried calamari, the fried cheese, and the sausage plate. No complaints on any except they are a little salty, which is the greek style. The atmosphere was mellow in this narrow and dimly lit space. The service was very friendly and servers are helpful with recommendations. You will spend around $20-30 per person without drinks. I will go back. more

greek food at it's best 5/16/2003

a great combination of family style Greek food and wines, the service is warm and friendly, the atmosphere is like a Greek taverna, it can be loud, but that's because everyone is having fun and at ease Pros: great food, great Greek wines Cons: parking, can be loud more

The Best Greek Food 1/16/2003

Mezes has a great combination of food and personality. My girlfriend and I love this place. The atmoshpere is warm and welcoming, but yet romantic. The service and the people are the best. This is the place for great Greek food at a good value. Pros: The Owners, Food, everything Cons: In the Marina more

Fun & delicious 10/3/2002

service was great - four of my girlfriends went to Mezes for Valentine's Day - and it was great. more

great idea 6/13/2002

If not for the bad location this place is a wonderful find. The whole take on tapas is well done and the service is top-notch. This is the closest thing I have found to "real" greek food I've found in SF. more

  • Sunny yellow walls, cobblestone floors and a second-level dining loft give a bright and airy feel to this neighborhood restaurant. A wall with a series of arched entries divides the bar area from the main dining room, where well-heeled locals share small plates of Mediterranean-influenced dishes. The menu, divided into vegetarian, seafood and meat dishes, includes zucchini potato cakes, skewered prawns and lamb chops.
