Maryland Science Center

The Maryland Science Center is one of the inner harbor highlights. Having spent a lot of time in Baltimore with family visiting, this is a great place to take the family. The kids visiting me ranged in age from 10-18, and while some of the exhibits were a little young for the older ones, we all had a great time nonetheless. Another great destination if you're looking for a way to entertain your kids. If you've gotta pick only one museum though, see the Aquarium--it's hard to top that. more

The Maryland Science Center, conveniently located right on the Inner Harbor, is a great family destination. MSC has a wide variety of hands-on experiences for all ages. They've also got a planetarium and IMAX theater if you have the money and the time. While I think this a great place, I noticed several broken exhibits during my last visit. I know that breakage is a natural part of hands-on museums, but I thought there was a bit too much "out of order" considering how much I paid to get in. I would say it's a great regional science center, but I wouldn't classify it as one of the nation's best. more

There is so much to do here! You first need to check out the dinosaur exhibit - it is so cool. There are so many educational things to do and learn for all ages. I found myself having as much fun as the kids. Don't forget the IMAX theater (just saw fighter pilots - it was AWESOME!!!) & the planetarium too. You will even forget you are inside. more

The Science Center is a fun-for-all-ages place that is a great way to spend a day. It's especially fun for people with kids, but a person of any age can likely find something to entertain them. The exhibits are mostly hands on, which makes it all the more engaging. I would especially recommend the Titanic Exhibit, which is nearing its end at the Science Center. It is well worth the extra money--very well put together and very informative. more

This is a great museum to go to if you haven't been before. THey have a ton of exhibits on display and will occassionaly get major attractions. The IMAX theater gets all the cool movies that most of the IMAX theaters get so be sure to check back in often to see those. Kids will love this museum as they will most science center's. Unfortunately, this museum is very old so it's not as modern as other museums are in the country. more

Situated on the edge of the Inner Harbor, the Maryland Science Center is a big hit with tourists. In general, I found the exhibits very up to date and educationally oriented. It is perfect for school age children, and even adults, especially if you are someone who likes planetariums and IMAX films. The observatory is pretty cool too and the staff are excited to share their enthusiasm with visitors. The museum is open throughout the week and there are even extended hours in the summer. As I mentioned, the location is very convenient to other tourists destinatons along the harbor and closeby, such as the American Visionary Art Museum. more

The Maryland Science Center is one of the most fun outings for families in downtown Baltimore. With fascinating changing exhibits and really cool permanent ones, kids can spend hours exploring and learning while parents stay interested as well (and learn a thing or two). The Kids Room on the top floor is a lot of fun for very young children—my son’s preschool program had a field trip here and the kids were able to splash and push buttons and set up train tracks to their hearts’ content. There is something of interest for every age—the IMAX and planetarium shows are really popular with older students, while Newton’s Alley (physics experiments of enormous proportions) on the first floor seems to be most attractive to middle school students. But best of all, grown ups get to play either with their kids or on their own. Check out the gift shop too—there are some fun gifts for your favorite science geek friends. more

the Md Science Center is right at the Inner Harbor in downtown Baltimore. I even enjoy it as a 20 something adult,and did as a kid going on field trips too. They usually have a visiting exhibit or a theme in addition to the other exhibits and hands on demonstrations. Not to mention there is a Imax theater,which I love for space movies and others that they show there more

The best thing about the Maryland Science Center is that you can go over and over and never run out of new things to do and see. There are constantly rotating exhibits in addition to dozens of permanent fixtures. It's a great opportunity for parents to learn with their kids. Don't forget to check out the IMAX theater! more
