Best

love this place...really known to serve the true locals! I eat and drink here a few times a week..love the ambiance and know that I can relax with well versed professional wait s...

Worst

Extremely over priced, poor service (except if you get up they are ever so prompt to refold your napkin). Very slow service. I would not recommend this place.

Food Poisening 10/12/2007

7 Reviews of The Kitchen in Boulder, CO -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jen I had been to the kitchen once before and was unimpressed. One of my staff had heard great things about the kitchen, so I agreed to try it one more time. I treated 5 members of my staff to lunch at the kitchen. Two ordered the crab salad. One of them had a few bites and put it aside, the other ate it all and within hours was deathly ill with food poisoning. The other who had only sampled hers ended up with terrible cramps. I can't believe a "premier" restaurant would serve food that could be unsafe. "Oh, it's probably okay for one more day" is not acceptable. Lousy service too. more

Yes, I like the Nightlife. I *do* like to Boogie. 5/19/2007

This is for the Kitchen Upstairs. We went out with friends to this spot a couple of weeks ago. It was a little too crowded but the scene and the service at the bar (if you can get a seat) were excellent. This would be a 5 star but I have to knock one off because it's a little too popular and crowded. Great job Kimbal. more

I love this place!!! 6/19/2006

I have visited Boulder several times over the past few months, and on each visit I've had at least two meals at The Kitchen. If it had been up to me, I probably would have eaten all of my meals here. While there are other great restaurants in Boulder, The Kitchen brings together a perfect blend of amazingly fresh, mostly organic ingredients, great execution of familiar dishes with innovative twists, a professional and friendly staff and a great all around feel of a local neighborhood restaurant. On my most recent visit,we had the burratta cheese - an incredibly creamy mozzarella cheese with a drizzle of olive oil (I think from the Gioia Cheese Co in Southern California) which was an incredible starter, the beef tenderloin entree which was perfectly cooked and incredibly tender alongside an interesting artichoke gratin and the dark chocolate tart that made me want to lick the plate. more

Nice restaurant. 1/31/2006

I applaud The Kitchen's use of locally produced produce and organics. It's nice to have a place to eat where I know the restaurant shares the same values around food that I do. The sommelier is insightful and helpful. The wait staff is pretty good, but I would like to see more consistency and professionalism. Much better than the usual college kid just earning a little extra cash though (something that is synonymous with a college town). When The Kitchen first opened there was much less butter/oil used in the dishes then there is now. This would be my primary criticism; I'd like to see them cut back on the butter/oil used. I love the ambiance and decor. more

California in Boulder 1/7/2006

The Kitchen is my favorite restaurant for downtown lunch meetings. The menu is full of fresh locally produced meats and produce. I had lunch on Friday and had their delicious and hearty tomato soup and then a roasted beet salad with chevre and toasted hazelnuts on a bed of arugula. It's nice to have a place to eat at frequently where it's possible to eat healthy food. My only complaint is that the tables are quite close together, so it's not a good place for sharing private conversations unless you want you neighbors to hear, too. more

Outstanding Brunch / Lunch 5/14/2005

The Kitchen is one of the best restaurants in Boulder. The founders - Kimbal Musk and Hugo X are wonderful people and completely dedicated to the restaurant. It shows in everything they do - from the atmosphere, to the food, to the style of the place. Lunch today was - as usual - fantastic - delicious, fresh food nicely presented. The french fries (as a starter) are a required part of the meal - don't miss them. I had a tuna salad sandwich today which is unusual for me (I don't really like tuna sandwiches) but it caught my eye, I gave it a try, and it was A+. more
