Worst

Went to Chapy's for the first time with a group of International ladies and my experience was not great. I really don't like the bred they served at first, it was dried and taste...

Great Time 3/17/2011

The food was great! we were sat in an alcove which was great for privacy, but it took a waiter a min to find us. Once the waiter found us, it was a great time. more

We will definitely be back! 3/10/2011

What a delightful evening for two former Louisiana residents! The ambience and the jazz combo were wonderful! Chappy's had a great wine selection and a favorite beer, Abita beer. The appetizers (crab fingers) were great! The entrees were good but the bread should have been a french bread. I had a seafood platter and thought the oysters were not very good, a little soggy. I sure wish Chappy had visited out table so we could compliment him. We will definitely go back. more

Truly Appreciate 3/7/2011

I have been to numerous restaurants in the Middle Tennessee region but this one in out of this world. The food gives you that New Orleans taste but here in Nashville. It is very elegant and you will definitely get in good with the ladies if you bring them here, as long as they are not picky eaters and can truly appreciate gormet food. This is top notch!! Wouldn't think twice about telling a friend. more

Enjoy to the fullest 2/23/2011

My friend took me there for lunch and I absolutely enjoyed the service and my meal. A suggestion for those of you that want spicy hot cuisine, try alerting the server how you prefer it cooked. Maybe they can add the Louisiana hotness you desire. I am taking my friends there to dine and I believe they will enjoy it to the fullest. more

Really Enjoyed it! 2/16/2011

We really enjoyed it. It was a father & daughter date & a great place for that. Our waitress was great. Thank you for a great night. more

This place was the best 2/11/2011

After reading the other reviews, we decided to give it a try anyway. After our experience, I think everyone on Citysearch is an absolute idiot!!! This place was the best. Yes, it's kinda pricey, yet it was so worth it. I'm thinking everyone that has complained about it needs to stick to Applebees and O'Charley's, because this place is heads above those places. Ya'll are all haters that just clearly want something for free. Food was awesome, service was the best, Chappy a delight, and his wife was fantastic! Definately where our family is going to go for every night out and take all of our out of town guests! more

CHECK THEM OUT!! 2/7/2011

Being from the Gulf Coast, I was especially excited when Chappy's moved in near downtown Nashville. A restaurant that boasted fresh seafood, and Cajun style at that? I'm in! I have only been to Chappy's a handful of times since it opened, I'm ashamed to say. I've had great experiences each time. The seafood is super fresh--and yes, I can tell--after all, I grew up dining on seafood that had been swimming earlier in the day. When you go, get reservations--and expect to be there at least 2 hours, maybe 3. Chappy's is a whole dining experience, not a place to eat and run. They give ample time between courses to catch up with your table mates, and enjoy the evening. They have two larger rooms that are great for groups--call at least several days ahead to reserve one! There is a bar, but this is a place to eat dinner--at a table. It's also a little on the pricier side, but you should expect that for fresh seafood! Totally worth it. And, if you are lucky, Chappy himself has been known to visit tables to check on food and service. Both are fabulous, in my book! more

Good Time 2/3/2011

I went to Chappy's for lunch along with 5 of my coworkers. Before going I had heard good & bad things, and after reading some reviews, was really prepared for a long lunch with slow service and maybe a little rudeness thrown in, for which I would also pay a pretty penny. But since I was with a group, I decided we would all find out for ourselves and we would have a good time anyway. Let me just say how pleasantly surprised we all were. It was a totally positive experience -- absolutely no negatives as far as I'm concerned -- and I can be pretty critical. We arrived about 11:45 on a Monday, after making reservations, and we were seated immediately. Our waitress was Sparkle and she was a delight, very friendly and helpful. We had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer -- delicious! A loaf of bread with 4 flavored butters was sampled by all and....well you can't go wrong with bread and butter. A salad came with each meal, and the presentation was great as was the homemade dressing. Every one enjoyed their meal, around the table were grilled chicken, fried grouper, trout almondine, fried shrimp, and ""the special"". Chappy came over and welcomed us and had quite the personality. We had to be polite and order desert, so we sample 3 between the 6 of us: Chocolate Cake, Bread Pudding, and Peach Cake -- all homemade of course. It was hard to decide which was best, they were all fabulous and worth every calorie! We had a great experience, with great food and even great service. We were thinking this would be a good place for a company gathering, and they do have separate rooms for large groups. Our bill was under $20 for each of us, which was reasonable considering all we had. I mean we knew we were not in a diner when we walked in and saw the exquisite and unique decor with the white table cloths on the tables. Most entrees were in the $10-$12 range for lunch. I am glad I didn't rely on the negative reviews because I would have missed a good time! more

Absolutely Amazing 2/1/2011

We went to Chappys for a 40th B-Day party, and it was absolutely amazing. I had the soft shell crab louie and i have never tasted such great crab very flavorful. The Martinis are a little pricey but very strong and worth the money, the bartenders were great as we waited very amusing. overall chappys is wonderful and i will definately be going back. more

Loved It! 1/26/2011

Loved it! This was our first time trying Chappy's and we were very pleasantly surprised. While the ambiance is so-so, the food was excellent (if you like cajun food), as was the service. We had grilled shrimp and crawdads as an appetizer and blackened grouper and redfish as our main courses. We topped it off with beignets with hot fudge dipping sauce for desert (oh, my god!). We had moderate expectations for the restaurants, but were very pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. Also, we especially enjoyed Chappy (chef) coming to every table to welcome and chat with the diners. We will definitely be back. more

Wonderful Experience 1/20/2011

I have been to Chappy's 7 or 8 times, I lose count. The matre'd calls me a regular when I walk in. I have always had speedy service and great food. Been to brunch 3 or 4 times and have to stop the wait staff from pouring the champagne because I have to drive. I used to eat at Chappy's back home on the coast before Katrina. Chappy's was one of my favorite places to eat back home and continues to be now that it is in Nashville. The food is just as good as it was on the coast. I highly recommend Chappy's to get that Mississippi Coastal/New Orleans cuisine experience that I grew up loving. I would eat at Chappy's every week if I could. Ahh that gumbo, nothing else like it. more

We love this place 1/17/2011

We ove Chappys. I am from Biloxi and moved to Huntsville. I have many fund memories of the Chappy's in Mississippi and now a enjoying Chappy's in Nashvile. A taste of the coast.Chappy's is our special occasion restaurant and we make the drive from Huntsville as much as we can. more

AMAZING! 1/6/2011

Definitely the best restaurant I've found in Nashville so far. We went in for a casual lunch not knowing what to expect. The decor is themed, but almost too much so, like a Disney version of a ""classy New Orleans restaurant."" We felt a little out of place in our jeans and tshirts, but it was no big deal. The waitress came out promptly and greeted us with the question, ""Have you heard of our butters?"" which almost made me laugh. But, their butter sampler was actually quite amazing (smoked alligator and strawberry butters, among others). The fried green tomatoes were the best I've ever had, and the Trout Long Beach was also perfect. However, our dessert blew everything out of the water-- a huge slice of supernaturally-moist peach cake that can only be described as a ""game-changer."" Man. Check this place out. You don't need to think about it, trust me. Just go. more

Great cajun food 12/31/2010

I eat at Chappy's at least once a week and I love it. The service is always excellent and Chappy goes from table to table making sure everything is just right. If you need something more vegetarian or even gluten free they can make it happen. I have a friend who spends alot of time in New Orleans and she says the gumbo is as good as it gets. more

New Orleans Food 12/16/2010

Lovely restaurant setting with excellent and attentive staff. My food was very pedestrian. Bread was stale and had been microwaves to pass muster, it failed. My""stuffed"" potato was probably 3 days old and tasted it. My fried seafood was good, mostly tasting of fried breading. Also very overpriced. The peach cake for dessert was excellent but the coconut cake was old and dry. The house salad was clevery arranged and I loved the house dressing and dark bread croutons. more

Wonderful Place to eat 12/2/2010

The other reviewers are a bit harsh. I say you pay for what you get. This place is priced right for the atmosphere and the food selections. The staff are great along with the owners wife who is friendly at the door. If you do not want personalized service and to be made feel welcome like a friend and not just a check then do not go here go to McDonald's. The food is well thought out with New Orleans at the heart of the menu. everything had had a personal style to the chefs taste and was wonderful. this is a must visit when not looking to drop two bills on dinner at the main chains likes Morton's or Flemming's. more

Great Night! 11/16/2010

We went with two other couples for dinner on a Friday night. We were running a little late for our reservations, but we called and they told us our table would be ready. The service was great. The waiter did a great job and was very attentive. The food was excellent. We all loved the bread and different butters. The raw oysters were some of the best I have ever had. They were plump and very tasty. I had the shrimp and crabcake. The crab cake was loaded with lump crab meat. My husband had the swordfish and said it was excellent also. The others with our party enjoyed their meals as well. I would recommend Chappy's! more

over priced, lousy service and frozen bread 7/31/2010

Started at cheese cake factory but there was over an hour wait, so we went to Morton?s for a blue cheese martini. we were in the mood for something totally different. So drove past chappy's and decided to try it. The woman seating people was overly friendly, and had to wait for here to chat with everybody she was sitting with a line. Pros: they serve veal and garlic butter Cons: extremely over priced, frozen bread, no chicken more

A bug in my food... 6/18/2010

So my girlfriend and I decided to dine at one of the ""finer"" establishments this evening here in Nashville. Needless to say, we ended up at Chappy's. We were promptly seated on a Friday night (which should have been a clue) in a cute and cozy room flanked with curtains. The server was initially nice and patient, as it usually takes my girlfriend and I awhile to decided on what we want to order. Chappy even came by our table and greeted us (as he traditionally does). Once we finally did order, the food was delivered promptly. I opted for the swordfish picatta and she had the saut?ed shrimp and was quite pleased with her selection. I on the other hand minimally enjoyed the fish but resided to eat it anyway. Halfway through my meal, I noticed a clump of pepper? with LEGS!!! There was a bug in my food!!! When my girlfriend pointed it out to the waitress, she brushed it off as a gnat and took my plate away ?before it grosses (me) you out? without my permission and without offering to replace my meal. She insisted that it was a flying gnat but I pointed out that it had NO WINGS and when I wafted at it, IT DID NOT FLY AWAY!!! Another lady then came to check in on us (she was the hostess) and offered some bread pudding ?on the house? as a form of compensation. Now tell me WHY ON EARTH would I want anything else from that kitchen??? And to top it all off, Tracy (our waitress) brought the ticket WITHOUT any adjustments? WOW, right??? I guess I don?t have to tell you?Chappy didn?t come back and check on us. Had we been the typical business man around here (hint, hint, wink, wink) I think this situation would have been handled differently? All this to say? AVOID THIS HIGH PRICED, LOW QUALITY PLACE! Pros: it is right down the street from white castle Cons: they serve bugs with your food more

Horrible! 5/4/2010

II went to ""Crappy's"" on my lunch break. The food was horrible.! The restaraunt had a funny smell when I first entered the building. The server seemed like she was a little ""slow"". I will never go back again. I told everyone when I went back to work to never go there and everyone agreed that the food is bland and not appetizing at all! Cons: everything! more
