Please take to heart all of the bad reviews this company has gotten on these blog type pages as well as on Better Business Bureau, good companies simply do not have that many bad reviews. This company will do something to upset you during the job - from being late for appointments, verbally abusive to paying customers, charging extra fees, preforming poor cleaning, breaking things in your house, lying. . . more

The worst company I ever hired 1/30/2012

I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. I hired Distinctive Cleaning to clean one of my rental properties. The cleaners who arrived were unpleasant, did not introduce themselves and did an overall poor job cleaning the rental property. My biggest issue--one of the cleaners damaged the carpet in the master bedroom carpet. The cleaner spilled paint on two major areas of the carpet. No one from Distinctive Cleaning called to inform me about the property damage! I found the damage when I arrived back at the rental property to prepare it for the new tenants who were moving in later that day. I spent the majority of the afternoon hand cleaning and steam vacuuming the carpet to try to remove the stains caused by Distinctive Cleaning staff. I never received a refund or any sort of compensation for the damages. In regards to the overall poor cleaning, there were still cobwebs in the corner of the entry way and food particles on the outside of the oven and refrigerator. The family room floor was covered in dust. I immediately called the owner who had one of the cleaners come back to the rental property. The cleaner arrived one hour later with a male friend in the car. She attempted to spot clean each of food particles I pointed out on the appliances and again cleaned the family room floor. I should not have to instruct a cleaning company on how and where to clean. Though the items are still not to my satisfaction, I can no longer deal with the runaround and unprofessional people who own and operate this company. Distinctive Cleaning claims to provide 100% satisfaction and the owner and staff are well aware that I am no where near 100% satisfied with the work and costumer service provided by their company. I filed a formal complaint with the BBB in hopes of helping any other consumers who might consider hiring this horrible company. more

More than satisfied 1/23/2012

I didn't get a chance to purchase a coupon as my friend did, and the review below, however, i decided to look into this cleaning company after my friend raved about her experience. I was at work while they came to clean. By the time I got home, with the kids and grocery's, i was relieved to have the house sparkling! I have never seen my bath tub so white! They even paid attention to little details such as straightening pillows and making the beds. It was nice to have extra time with the family instead of having to clean up after them! more

Great service 1/2/2012

I bought a Groupon as a gift for my wife and she signed up for three cleanings. We had our first one today. Marissa arrived at the far end of the arrival window and began cleaning right away. I told her our priorities and then took the kids and got out of our hair. Two hours later we arrived home to a clean home that smelled good and had obviously been vacuumed, dusted, disinfected and scrubbed. It's a great deal. I think when you buy a coupon that several thousand other people buy your mileage may always vary but we can be counted among the satisfied. The only reason I knocked off a star is that the upstairs wasn't attended to but she did leave that in a note so there you go. more

Terrible Company! 12/27/2011

I purchased a '3 time house cleaning' deal through Crowd Cut in hopes of finding a cleaning company to use for the future. They showed up when they were supposed to the first time though she didn't vacuum my living room rug which always desperately needs it as I have a golden retriever who sheds (and is the main area of my house!) She had also dusted off my fan blades in my office but then never cleaned up what fell. \r \r The second time they came it didn't look like the main bedroom was vacuumed or the tub was scrubbed. \r \r The third time I never received a call like they said to tell me what time slot they'd show. They say they will call the night before to let you know. I was calling the day of to try to find out. The lady told me the person was sick so we rescheduled. I've talked to someone on the phone about 3 times total and each time the person has terrible customer service and sounds crabby and a tone in her voice like she's too tired to explain anything. (I've never used a cleaning service prior to this and don't know how it all works.)\r \r The 3rd appointment was rescheduled and again, I did not receive the call the day before to tell me when they'd come. So I called the morning of and the crabby woman put me on hold then said they'd be there between 3-4. The cleaner never showed. I called the company to find out if they were coming and someone picked up but never said anything. I could just hear breathing. That is NOT professional! I called back & then got the recording. I've left a message but I doubt they will call me back. I will have to instead. I have a feeling they are trying to get out of their 3rd cleaning on the Crowd Cut deal so they aren't losing more money. The deal expires in 3 weeks and I have a feeling they're going to keep pushing me out until they can tell me ""Sorry, it's expired""!! (even though it's them that are no shows!) \r \r I will definitely NOT hire this company ever again, especially at regular price! After this experience, I have doubts on any cleaning company & might just look for an individual instead. more

Poor service 12/15/2011

I was supposed to have the house cleaned today, but, when I got home I saw no one had come. When I called they said the person had called in sick and I should have gotten a call...NOPE!!! NOW I have to wait until after Christmas for an opening. I also have one scheduled for January...so we will see what happens. They should schedule better...I should NOT have to wait 2 more weeks to get my service! I had bought the Groupon and had to wait a good 6 weeks to get my first appointment. I doubt if I will continue to use this company after my January appointment. more

Horrible service, VERY UNRELIABLE 12/15/2011

I echo several other reviews of this company. They are unreliable and have horrible customer service. I purchased a crowdcut coupon for cleanings and scheduled the cleanings three months ahead of time. My first scheduled appointment was cancelled because the cleaner was ""sick"". That day, I confirmed my appointment for two weeks later. Two weeks later, no one showed up! WHen I called the office, they said they did not have me on the schedule. THis was difficult to believe when I just confirmed it two weeks previous! I rescheduled, but am doubting that they will ever show up. They have told me several times that they are just overwhelmed with how many crowdcut coupons they sold, and I know several small businesses have overextended themselves with these coupon deals. But, the customer service should be the thing that makes up for that! more

TERRIBLE----Wouldn't recommend to ANYONE 12/8/2011

I booked three cleaning appointments through the main number for Distinctive Cleaning Services in November 2011. The first cleaning was scheduled for December 5th and I was told the staff would arrive between 8-10am. That day, I took the morning off of work to wait for them, only for no one to not show up. When I called, they didn't have any of my three scheduled services for the months of Dec and Jan on file and allowed me to re-book. In talking with the customer service person on that occaision, I was told to choose any date and I could select between a morning arrival (between 8-10am) or an afternoon appointment (between 12-2pm). They then scheduled me for Friday, Dec. 9th, to arrive between 12-2pm. When they left a voicemail to confirm the appointment today, they informed me they would arrive between 9-10AM. When I called their business to once again discuss that they incorrectly scheduled the service for the wrong time, I was told they could not guarantee their services for a set time. As the general manager THEN informed me for the first time, since I purchased the three cleaning appointments through a coupon, scheduled appointments were only available for ""paying customers."" I'm sorry, but although buying the services at a discounted rate, I still very much consider myself a ""paying customer."" Secondly, this was the first time this I was told this in any of the experiences of speaking with their staff. In talking to two managers, they were extremely rude and unhelpful to work with me. Each time I called the company, I was told three seperate things during every call and had never been told those customers using coupons had to follow special scheduling rules---nor is this specified IN PRINT on the coupon itself. In talking with customer service, I was told offering the coupon was ""detrimental"" to their business as they were unprepared for the influx of appointments that it created. And, although scheduled appointments are available, that is not an option when using a coupon. What's actually detrimental is the word of mouth that will spread by their unprofessional service and treatment of their clients. more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE 11/28/2011

I had a VERY frustrating experience with your company. And before turning to social media to launch my complaint, I asked that a manager call me and also tried to email the owner but received no response. In my search for a regular home cleaning service, I purchased a three deal package for your company through Crowd Cut. I was particularly motivated because I was hosting Thanksgiving at my house this year and was looking forward to a deep clean before the holidays. I called in September to schedule and was told that the closest time to the holiday that they had availability was today, Friday, November 18. And although I found it strange that Distinctive Cleaning was unable to give me a window of time when the cleaner would show up at my home until the day before the service, I went ahead and booked the service and took the entire day off of work so I would be available. As of 3:15pm on Thursday, November 17 I still hadn't received a phone call with the scheduled time, so I called the office and was told that they wouldn't have that information until after 4pm and I would receive a call at that time. When I still hadn't received a phone call at 8:30am this morning and left a voicemail. Just before 9am I still hadn't heard so I called again and spoke with someone, although the still couldn't tell me a time. After 9:30am the morning of the scheduled cleaning, I did receive a return phone call and I was told that the person scheduled to clean my place today called in sick so I would have to reschedule for after the Thanksgiving Holiday. I also received another follow-up call at 11:30am to the voicemail I had left 3 hours earlier with the same message. Although the company offered to reschedule for November 30, the prospect of taking a second full day off work to see if the company I hired MIGHT show up to clean my place was not that enticing. Not to mention that part of my motivation in scheduling two months ago was because I was hosting Thanksgiving. Then I was even more frustrated when I went on your website and Facebook page to find out that as late as Friday, November 11 Distinctive Cleaning was offering Pre-Holiday Cleaning packages. This makes me wonder if I just got bumped. On top of everything, my credit card was charged an $12.50 on the day of scheduled cleaning. I called to dispute it on Monday, November 21 and was told the charge would be reversed. As of this posting it still had not been fixed. more

Wonderful Holiday Cleaning 11/22/2011

I contacted Distinctive Cleaning to get my house cleaned for Thanksgiving. We have out of town guests and my wife and I work around the clock. Needless to say we needed some help getting our house prepared. I called around for some estimates and Distinctive was the only company that could give me an estimate over the phone and got me in for a next day appointment. They had a great holiday special that got me a great cleaning from very friendly gals, and a next day appointment. If your looking for a good cleaning I recommend calling Distinctive Cleaning. They provided a wonderful service that I am definitely going to use in the near future. more

Seriously? 11/19/2011

Well, that's crappy! Late last September I scheduled a window cleaning for my home with Distinctive Cleaning. They were so booked up that I had to schedule for today (11/19). I had hoped for an appointment earlier this fall. So today: They failed to show up ... and I had to call THEM to find out what happened. Answer: They don't do windows when it's below 35 degrees. I'm wondering why they even scheduled the appointment. Hello? Minnesota in November. Maybe let your customers know that cancellation is likely? And at the very least shouldn't you call a customer when you aren't going to show up? I skipped going out of town this weekend to be here for this appointment. NOT HAPPY. more

Terrible experience 11/18/2011

Terrible customer service and equal carpet cleaning job. After making my appointment to have my basement carpet cleaned I called back and said lets do the whole house. The woman said the cleaners would be there between 9 and 12. I waited and waited and finally at 1:30 the arrived. They were not professional looking at all and smelled of smoke. They were prepared to clean the basement and when I said I changed the order they seemed totally put out and were not aware of the order change. The workers quoted me a different price, I called the main office and was rudely treated. Our conversation ended with me hanging up on them. I should have asked the cleaners to leave at that point but they had already started. My carpets were wet for 3 days, mold grew in the basement carpet as a result. After the carpets were finally dry, It was evident that only 1/2 of one of my bedrooms was cleaned. You could see a distinct line across the middle of the floor....did they run out of cleaner?? The final room that was cleaned didn't even look any different!. Total waste of time and money! more

Smoke smelling sloppy cleaners! Overpriced! 10/7/2011

First off I was impressed with the website! Jennifer was the contact who I discussed my cleaning needs with later I found out that she is the owner. She told me one price and then charged my account $45 more because of taxes. This was her explaination of extra charges. \r The house cleaners smelled of smoke and did a terrible job cleaning our house. They were fast and sloppy at what they did. They took a break to smoke and when they returned to the house they really were smoke smelling. They were not good at all with cleaning the bathrooms and kitchen floors.\r \r I should have read the posts here to see that they were not the best option to have clean my house and carpet. \r The carpet cleaning was done well but that was all I can say that was done right.....\r \r I suggest contacting another cleaning service.... more

Long time customer ""on the fence"" 9/10/2011

Distinctive has cleaned our house for almost 3 years now (every 3 weeks they come). For 2 years we were very pleased with their work, almost always tipping $20+ for a good job. Occasionally the cleaner was late but she usually called to tell us when she would arrive and it only happened like once a year. We were pleased because they generally did a pretty good job (not *stellar* but good) for the price and we usually had the same girl and we liked her. Recenlty something has changed. Each cleaning we have someone new, or the cleaner has been late, not called or simply not shown up, done a poor job, or was rediculously slow at it because she talked on the phone the whole time. I hate when Distinctive reschedules our cleaning because of lateness or whatever. I can understand that things happen (sickness, car issues), but it has been so frequent lately it leaves me wondering if they are trying to get rid of us as a client. We have 6 people in our house (3 kids) and make a big effort to pick everything up and put everything away before our cleaning so the cleaner can actually clean things in a reasonable amount of time. It is not easy or fun to redo that task because they didn't show up. I hope they get their act back together and hire some good workers. I really don't want to have to find another service. more

My grandma passed last month. We saw it coming, hoever, no one wanted to be the one to go through her belongings and clean her house after, see, grandma was a keeper of things! She had a problem not throwing things away. So we called around and found Distinctive Cleaning and took the chanceon asking if they by chance would be willing to do that kind of cleaning. \r \r Turns out that it is more common than we realized! They took care of everything! What a relief! They came in like and within 2 days the house looked normal! that would have taken us weeks!!!! Amazing work everyone, thank you! more

I called Distinctive Cleaning about 6 months ago to receive cleaning services. They were out to my house the nest day, and have been every two weeks since then. They always do a great job! My cleaner is wonderful, and the office staff are great too! \r \r I have read other peoples posts, and I have to say, I don't see how they can say these things. There has to be more to the story than they are saying! Distinctive Cleaning as I know it always takes care of their customers! But, you have to admit, there are some crazy people in this world that will say anything to get what they want. I just wanted to make sure that I stated my opinion like everyone else! \r \r Love you DC! thanks for everything! more

Do you value your money or time? Then don't.... 4/7/2011

I don't care what business there in - just worst business I have ever tried to work with! The first time they cleaned my house was not happy they left my house and oven dirtier than before they began. Besides the fact they BROKE my oven! The person who cleaned I was told was a ""bigger"" person?! REALLY? I am now forced to take them to Small claims court because they wont fix/replace my oven. They sent out repair service and after he said it was unfix-able, they stiffed him and tried to offer me $150. I wont go into the 3 weeks of brutally horrid customer service and stupid comments like ""Isn't your Oven Under Warranty"". Really - does it matter when you lay on the door- do you think the manufacturer is gonna cover that? Or the fact they say there ""FULLY"" insured and that's why they cost a little more- but when they break something you get the shaft... Or the fact they bill you days before they come out to clean or the fact they said they would re-clean my house for free to make up for the first time, but bill me anyway?! HORRIBLE COMPANY AWFUL MANAGEMENT, use at own risk!! \r \r P.S. \r \r It's not about the oven anymore, I will replace it - but when someone tries to shaft you it becomes more about the principle than the actual damage. I doubt I will collect but hopefully someone reads this and takes note. \r more

What a relief! I hired Distinctive Cleaning to help keep things on track while I heal from a broken leg. I must say they have went above and beyond for me and I greatly appreciate it! I didn't realize how much dirt was actually in my house until they cleaned it out! Thanks DC girls! more
