wonderful drinks! 4/4/2006

Everyone I know goes to Trudy's for the drinks (the Mexican Martini specifically). The food is fine - some of the dishes are great. You have to remember that it's Tex-Mex, not authentic Mexican (if you have friends that are snobby that way). The South Star location is the one I visit most, and it's very crowded and noisy most evenings. Usually there's a wait for a table. As far as staff goes, I have had some very nice wait staff and I've had some unbelievably rude staff as well. In short, it's not my favorite restaurant by any means, but I have no intentions of not going again. It's a great place for after work or to meet up with friends. I don't see a lot of families there. more

great chips and salsa, good food 8/23/2005

Trudy's is a great place to dine out with friends or family. The Tex-Mex is always very tasty. Their chips and salsa are the best in town. Their enchilada are really good and their taco salad is awesome. The South location can get a bit crowded on weekends and lacks the warmth of the campus locale. more

The BEST place to get your Tex Mex 8/16/2005

Ask anybody where to get good Tex-Mex and drinks, and they’ll tell you the same. Trudy’s is one of the best places to have a Mexican martini in Austin as well some delicious stuffed Avocado. Go on a weekend and be prepared to wait! This place is very popular among college kids, ask your waiter about the Trudy’s Challenge and hear about a crazy tradition in Austin. Btw, drink up before you order your 2 martinis (that’s the limit) because you are cut off after that. Enjoy! more

Fajitias and Mexican Martini 8/13/2005

By far the best Mexican martini’s (famous around Austin) and fajitas. The ambiance is also top notch and has a real unique Texas feel. Whenever I go back to Austin, Trudy’s is a place that I definitely always make sure to go out to. Probably the best place to grab a bite to each before heading out to 6th street. more

great food and drinks 7/16/2005

Who can resist a Mexican martini? Actually, if you want to keep your wits about you, resisting that martini may be in order. Ah, Trudy's. Summer nights. Khaki shorts. The end of exams, the new promotion, the birthday, the drinks after a day on the boat or running a marathon (seriously, I saw that once). All-day happy hour on Mondays. Chips and salsa and burgers on the deck or in the downstairs bar to staunch the effects of the Mexican martini. Those deadly deadly Mexican martinis. more
