Awesome weekend brunch buffet 3/21/2006

The brunch buffet at Trudy's Northstar is not available at all the Trudy's locations, maybe only at this one. They always have three or four egg dishes, quiche, sausage, chilaquiles, fruit, yogurt, biscuits, gravy PLUS bacon, waffles, pancakes and omelettes to order. Bang! The service is generally good, and, at least early on Saturdays, it never too crowded. more

An Austin Monument 3/18/2006

Trudy’s is famous in Austin for their Mexican Martini, be warned they are STRONG. This alone is a great reason to visit them, although the food will not disappoint. The atmosphere is good, although loud at busy times. Additionally, get there early as the restaurant is very popular so there is often a wait. Trudy’s is one place in Austin you must go to at least once. more

Give a little to get a lot 10/8/2005

The parking is terrible--good luck if you want to go for happy hour--but if you can find a space and stand the wait, which is often around an hour, it is well worth it. I'm crazy about their strawberry margaritas, which are the best I've had anywhere, and the Mexican Martinis pack a BIG punch. Lightweights be warned. The chile relleno was always a favorite of mine, as well as the stuffed avocado. They also have patio seating and an upstairs bar. more

Good Food/Drinks, Poor Service 7/30/2005

The food here is quite good. And who can pass up their famous Mexican Martinis? However, it's the service and general hassle that keeps me away. First, there is very limited parking in the lot shared with several other restaurants and stores. Then you go in to discover waits as long as an hour and half! But what bothers me the most is the fact that the staff their treats you as if it is your priveledge to eat there. In general both hosts and waiters could care less about your needs as their goal is to get people out of there as quickly as possible. But sometimes, it's worth all the hassle just to get a hold of a Mexican Martini to calm you down. more
