FREAKIN DELISH. For delivery sushi, it is always fresh. The hibachi fried rice is TO DIE FOR.

Worst

This is one of the worst sushi restaurants ever! It seems like no one is even working here when you go. The service is way worse than the food. Sushi is not fresh. I gave it a...

Poor quality. I ordered Red Snapper and White Tuna Nigiri. It was far from fresh. I even pre-tipped 20%. "Never again, Never again". more

Editorial review from GrubHub 6/7/2013

I have ordered from Sushi Japon many times, and now I realize they need to change their name. Everything I've ever had has been flavorful and properly cooked. However, after today, I will never order sushi from them. My nigiri was inedible. Tiny pieces of salmon cut so thin they were falling apart. I peeled a bit of the salmon off and tried it. It was mealy. more

So apparantly Hand Roll means one big cone shaped roll. Didn't know that and was disappointed with what I got. The lunch special of two rolls I got looked normal like I expected my avocado roll to look like. My friend also go the weird hand rolls expecting what I got for my lunch rolls. more

They always follow any requests or instructions I have for my sushi. The fish is fresh, tender and wonderfully tasty. The delivery is always here before the time they say they will be here, very fast! If you love sushi or steak I highly recommend Japon. more

Best Sushi Place 1/3/2012

Let me start off...I love this place! I've been coming back to Sushi Japon for several years now and I feel that I have not been disappointed yet. Besides having the time to create a type of customer relationship with all of the staff, they are always so welcoming and greet me as if I am the last customer they will ever have at their restaurant. more

You can get much better sushi in Austin 7/12/2010

We went for lunch, where I ordered the sushi plate with 6 pieces of nigiri sushi and 3 pieces of california roll. I was told they were out of toro and encouraged to order ""hamachi toro"", which I assumed was the belly piece of the hamachi, for $9. I was told that this hamachi toro was to hamachi as toro is to regular tuna, so I decided to give it a try. My companion ordered the shrimp tempura bento box. At first sight, I was struck by the tiny size of the pieces of sushi. I mean, grocery store nigiri and California rolls would dwarf these. I was also disappointed that they included fake crab and overcooked shrimp as two of the nigiri. Anyway, the sushi rice was fine, but none of the fish tasted really good. The maguro tuna was the best. The so-called hamachi toro was nothing like toro. It was extremely firm and a little bit oily where toro is soft and tender and spreads around the mouth as you eat it. It would have been ok for $2.50 a piece, but not $9 for two, especially given the tiny pieces. The bento was ok, with two pieces of tempura shrimp and five or six of tempura vegetable. There's really no point in having sushi at Sushi Japon except for the staff. The people who work here seem really warm. On the other hand, when the waitress asked me how I liked the hamachi toro after I'd eaten one of the two pieces and I told her I was very disappointed, she did not offer to take the remaining piece back and not charge me. A really good restaurant would have done that. Pros: Very warm and friendly service Cons: Very poor value more

good food and service 2/20/2009

If you go to dine at sushi japon expect to eat a delicious meal. Everything is well prepared. The service is wonderful and everyone is friendly and attentive. It is a great place to bring family & friends. Both the sushi and the habachi grill foods are out of site or should I say out of this world! Pros: food and service more

Best Sushi in Austin - Hands Down 1/10/2009

This place is absolutely fabulous. The combination of food, service and atmosphere makes it my favorite restaurant. The owners are incredible. They are extremely friendly and have worked very hard to provide the best food and service in Austin. I applaud them for being friendly and very accomodating, which seems to be lacking in so many restaurants these days. Once you go there, the other sushi restaurants in town will seem to disappear. more

Best Japanese Restaurant I've Been To 11/8/2008

I have been to many Japanese restaurants in various locations around the world. This is by far my favorite, both in Teppanyaki and in flavor. Their sushi is amazing, especially the Fatty Tuna role (and it's reasonably priced at 2 pieces for $8, quite often it's $10 per piece). Usually most restaurants that do show-cooking are flavorless, but even my wife who doesn't like meat ate every bit of steak/chicken served to her. Also, the staff are very courteous and attend to your every need. Definitely try the peach sake if you get a chance. Pros: Just About Everything Cons: The only con I can think of is that the restaurant isn't as big as you'd think it is. more

excellent food and service 10/24/2008

We took the kids to sushi japon steak house for a special outing and they absolutely loved it. The chef entertained them and they absolutely loved the food. All we heard for days after was how good it was and when were we going back. A great place for kids or for a romantic meal... I would highly recommend it. Pros: excellent food more
