These people know their shoes! Family owned business that really cares. They have all kinds of shoes from your average runner to specialty shoes. They also offer a wide variety of running accessories. I came to them after I just started jogging and needed a more supportive shoe. I talked to someone who actually does shoe reviews for a national magazine and they had a few different recommendations for me. I was able to find one that fit my budget. I am very happy with my purchase and this is the ONLY place anyone should go for their running needs. more

best runner store 11/13/2005

Runtex has all the things a runner will need. it sells all the running shoes and running clothes. hence if you are a fan of running, you can get everything you need in this store. also, it gathers runners at certain time in front of the store, and then people start road running together. it's quite a club. more

The Running Store in Austin 7/30/2005

I came here as a new runner with many questions and was surprised to find out how helpful they are. This is the best place in town to buy running shoes as the staff here really knows their stuff. They measure your feet, see how you stand and walk, and pick out shoes they think will work best for you. I got a great pair that I never would have picked out on my own! They also have the best running gear in town: clothes, socks, etc. You can also turn in an old pair of athletic shoes for a donation and receive $10 off your shoe purchase. The prices are a bit high, but that is what you should expect from a highly specialized store such as Run-Tex. more

Great Staff and Shoes 7/16/2005

The person who helped me knew everything there is to know about running shoes. I spent a lot of time trying on shoes, but I walked out of there knowing that I had the right pair for my feet. The prices are a bit higher than some other places but here you are paying for service and selection. If you are not sure which running shoes are best for your feet, they can help more
