I don't know what is going on in Austin, but everyone should head to the location outside TSU in San Marcos. My sister, mother, and I stopped in briefly while getting a feel for the campus and I couldn't have been more impressed. I am probably a few years older than the normal clientele, and my sister has been blessed with some serious curves which also seem out of the norm for the store. Despite this we were not only treated politely but enjoyed an enthusiastic and welcoming conversation/introduction to the store from the girl working that day. She left us to ourselves for a few minutes to look and then asked if it was our first time and told us a little bit about the store. Regardless of the fact that we didn't spend a dime, she invited us to join the email list, told us about the new myspace page, and explained when the good sales happen. So not only were the clothes completely adorable and reasonably priced (don't you dare compare this to forever 21), but the service (delivered by a girl who was as adorable as the clothing) was excellent and friendly. I will definitely be making the drive again soon. Hope everyone gives this location a chance!
Pros: really unique, cute clothes at reasonable prices.
Cons: few locations.

I got a pair of tennis shoes from Karavel August, 2008 for my son because he walks on the sides of his feet alot and I needed a good pair of orthopedic shoes. The shoes were great, the customer service was fantastic and the shoes I bought are still good with no holes in them or nothing. For the price, they are worth it because I was going thru a pair of shoes every other month for my son who walks on the sides of his feet - these shoes were from Wal-mart, Payless, Target, all the cheap stores. Yes it is very pricey but well worth it in the long run.
Pros: Best value and shoes
Cons: Pricey but good

Went in thinking I wasn't going to find anything nice enough to wear to a wedding. Left confident with 3 new pairs of shoes and a dress. The girls seemed like they knew what they were doing and liked it. They helped but didn't bombard me with sales pitches. Later at the wedding my shoes were complimented! Thanks Girls!
Pros: Lots of stuff I want and can afford.
Cons: on soco

Despite past experience in this particular boutique, it is always worth another try because the selection is the perfect blend b/t high fashion and independent cool. The shoes, hello! Since the implementation of new ownership and an energized staff, the store has finally not only met, but exceeded, the expectations of what an Austin run and owned business should be. With new shopping alternatives popping up every time I turn around, I have to say that this is what I wanted it to be all along... awesome with impeccable customer service. My last experience in the store left me with a positive buzz, maybe even a new friend! And an entire bag-full of goodies! Gimme gimme more!!
Pros: Excellent customer service, perfect shopping experience for a fashionista
Cons: It's always busy! Just try to find parking, and only two fitting rooms...

Austin Shoe hospital has been around for a long time in the area and it's the place to go if you need your boots resoled or your leather shoes or sandals repaired. They can fix just about anything and they do an amazing job. I took in a pair of boots 4 years ago to be resoled and they still look great today! The cost is very reasonable and the turn around time is just a couple of days.

I do truly care about my shoes, probably more than the average person. I have a few pairs I've had for years and worn regularly (mostly boots), thanks to these people. Austin Shoe Hospital has repaired zippers for me, resoled one pair, and even modified a pair of boots I had to have on ebay that didn't fit exactly right. Their prices are reasonable and their staff is friendly and super knowledegable. I've already referred several people to them, and all of them have thanked me.

They get to know you on a first name basis and remember everything. They go over and above on making sure that the customer is satisfied in every way possible. Dain and his daughters do everything they can to make sure you look and feel your best while still making the shopping experience very enjoyable. I went to InStep because I needed my orthotics adjusted. The Pedorthist at Instep is named Stephen and he is truly amazing. He met with me and gave me 2 different add ons for my orthotic to try and called me several times to see how they were feeling and to ask which one was working better. He emailed my podiatrist during the week to let him know what I had told him. I gave Stephen the orthotics so he could permantly attach the add ons and he offered to re-align them with a cushionier fabric to help my feet. He is a truly amazing guy that goes above and beyond to help you and I recommend Instep and Stephen to ANYONE that has foot/ankle/ knee pain.
Pros: Stephen, communication, everything!
Cons: none

I went into this store for the first time back in December and was so surprised to find that have a huge selection of women's clothing and it's CUTE and AFFORDABLE! I looked at so many things...blouses, dresses, jeans, jewelry and shoes! I ended up buying a great wool coat on sale for a great price and some earrings for a gift for someone else. I get compliments on that coat all the time! PLUS their shoe selection is HUGE... boots, sandals, cute fashionable stuff as well as tennis shoes, and high end shoes that are "healthy" for your feet. I can't believe I haven't found this place before, it's right near where I live, but I guess I always thought they only sold shoes...Don't let the name fool you...they have great clothes too!
Pros: Great selection Shoes AND Clothing, Great prices, regular sales
Cons: I didn't find it sooner!
