Great Happy Hour 1/3/2012

They have a good happy hour. Good ambiance and casual Italian fare. For dinner I recommend the Penn cove shells. more

tries to be too much 8/23/2011

Decent location and setting. A bit too eclectic for my taste with all the pink and over priced for what you get. I do commend them on fresh local ingredients hence the 4 star vs. a 3. We had fish of the day and Penn Cove Mussels which were good. more

Horrible!!! 9/7/2008

I am a world traveler and never in my life have I been treated with such lack of respect. It was my Bachelorette Party and we were out to have a good time. From the moment we walked in we were treated horribly. The hostess was extremely rude. The waiter was slow with service, and had a bad attitude. Do yourself a favor and eat at the many other restaurants in Seattle that have better food, a better attitude, and much much better service! more

a little disappointed 10/2/2006

So I know this place is supposed to be all that and the ambiance was nice. This was my first time at the Pink Door and we intentionally made a reservation for last night to see the trapeze act. I mean this isn't something you see everyday. When we arrived, we learned the trapeze act had cancelled. Very disappointed, we stayed anyways and it was hard to get over the fact that if a restaurant is going to go so far as to get your phone number when you make a reservation then they should have the courtesy to call you when the trapeze act cancels. The food was good but not astonishing....Sorry, I know some people will be mad at this and I know things happen but this is just another opinion. more

Great Lasagna! 8/16/2006

first up, i'm a lasagna connoisseur and Pink Door's lasagna was probably one of the most delectable lasagnas I've ever had. it's vegetarian too which gains a lot of brownie points from me. my co-workers and i went there for a fun dinner out. we were a group of 5 girls and we ordered the bruschetta, the antipasti plate, lamb chops, salmon, cioppino, some coffee and a dessert. we all gave mixed reviews for the food. my lasagna was excellent, the cioppino was so-so, the lamb chop and salmon were both fabulous and then of course the spaghetti and meatballs were you know, OK. our server was attentive but he acted like he was doing his job for free (although my boss did gave him a big fat tip). my co-workers got to the restaurant first and they complained about the service as soon as i got there (they've been there for almost 2 hours with drinks, appetizers, the works...), apparently everyone was just a tad too rude to them but i didn't care too much because my food was great. dinner comes with a bread basket and olive oil (both really well-prepared). my latte was beautiful and so was my friend's dessert. i'd like to come bck soon for the food but i'm a bit worried about the service.... more

Great food. Service - not so much. 8/14/2006

My mother in law loves the Pink Door. Each time she comes out from New York - we make sure to take her out to dinner here. I have never been disappointed by the food. The Mama loves the salmon. They have a great vegetarian lasagna - if you're not watching what you eat and wish to splurge a little on your calorie intake. The service is consistently poor. You're lucky to see your server twice - and both times they're likely to be irritated with you. If you flag down a server not assigned to your table - look out for the 'tude. more

The perfect flavors with the perfect atmosphere... 6/15/2006

The Pink Door is a great place to eat...I've enjoyed this experience at lunch and at dinner. I find the service to be wonderful and the food choices to be varied and delightful. The outdoor patio is a great summertime treat and the alley entrance is a great beginning to a memorable dining experience. more

Great romantic spot! 5/12/2006

I love the Pink Door, especially in the summer time when you can sit out on the patio and watch the ferries. Whether you're inside or out though you'll find a wonderfully cozy and charming atmosphere and great food and service. The location is prime - who doesn't love the quaint Post Alley? Look for the Pink Door (creative name, huh?) and you're there! more

It's All About the Atmosphere 5/3/2006

It's best to go in the evening on a warm, sunny day, to get a place with a decent view, and to sit outside. If you're a tourist visiting the Pike Place Market, it's also one of the nicer places to have lunch. Yes, the interior is rather lovely too, but in an ideal circumstance, if you're having a romantic encounter or a relaxing evening with friends, get some appetizers and drinks and watch the sunset. It is of course a lousy place to watch the sunrise because it is shadowed in the mornings by the tall building across the street from it. more

Pink Door Patio 5/3/2006

It's been a while, but the Pink Door patio is always on the short list of best al fresco eating spots in Seattle. The food's good but the ambiance is better. Can't beat the location either. more

The Pink Door -- fantastic bar, great ambiance, good food, variable service 4/18/2006

My wife and I went with a friend last night and sat in the bar for dinner. I agree with other reviewers that the bar is way more fun--much livelier and more interesting. Every time I've been, the food has always been good. My wife absolutely loves the veggie lasagna, which I agree is one of my favorites on the menu. I love the Post Alley entrance -- you feel like it's one of those semi-secret places that not everyone knows about. In the summer, the outdoor patio is very tough to beat. Our biggest complaint last night was the service. It just wasn't that busy, and yet our server had a hard time keeping up with us. When you have an empty drink when the entrees are served, aren't you usually asked if you want something else? I've been there previous times and don't recall the service being like that, so maybe we just hit it on an off night? more

Perfect warm night 4/5/2006

The flip side of my rant about Maximilien's is a rave about the Pink Door. Perfect for said summer evening. You can sit out or in and have a pretty drink and awesome food (risotto, yum! big salad, yumm!) and count the ferry boats. more

Great restaurant for a date night! 3/6/2006

I went to The Pink Door for Valentine's day with my boyfriend and another couple. We were all dressed to the nines for our night out, and expected everyone else to be all spiffed up as well, but that just wasn't the case. The restaurant appeals to all styles - I saw a couple in jeans, a group of kids who looked like they were going to prom, and others who were just out for a good time. The decor is fun and funky and the wait staff is the same. Not a huge menu but what they have is great. I had the house red wine and thought it was fantastic! more

A restaurant that I will definetly go back to. Nice, cozy and romantic - good food. Not a budget friendly restaurant but worth it. more

Yeah, it's romantic... Food's okay. 10/26/2005

The Pink Door has been recommended to me extensively by several people, so I took my boyfriend there for his birthday. The ambience is great, particularly its location on Post Aly and the bar area -- there happened to be a live three-piece band there that night. The bar area is much more intimate than the main dining room, in which we were seated right next to the waitperson station and where most of the foot traffic passed by -- although they had, on the phone, promised "the most romantic table in the place". The lighting is flattering, the knick-knacks and decor very romantic. However, good restaurants for me mean more than just ambience; it's all about the food. And the food was... okay. Not great, not terrible, just lacking in imagination and flavor. I had a roast chicken in grape juice -- while an ample portion, the chicken was somewhat dry and desperately needed salt. My boyfriend had the lamb, which suffered from the same problem. For the prices The Pink Door charges, I would expect, at the very least, a properly cooked roast chicken. The wine list was decent, and our server seemed to know his winemakers. A dessert course of tiramisu was paltry in size but decent (again, not great, not bad). I'd recommend going there for a drink (the gin gimlet was tasty), but if you're going to spend upwards of $100 on a meal, take it somewhere with fantastic food. more

Good Food, Good Ambience 9/30/2005

The Pink Door is a great "go out to dinner for your birthday" place. On weekends they have acrobats swinging from bars hung from the ceiling... not something you see every day! The food is good, but not amazing. Definitely not suitable for younger palates. The service is great, you'll be well taken care of at the Pink Door. more

Good food and atmosphere, poor service 9/7/2005

The ambience was fantastic due to its charm and live music and the outdoor patio also provided a fantastic view of Elliot Bay. The service on the other hand was quite poor. Our waitress rarely visited the table to inquire about drinks or more bread and at one point she literally threw the bread onto the table and walked away. The food was very flavorful, if slightly overpriced, but the desserts were fabulous. Also--best tapenade I[ve ever had on the antipasto plate. more

Perfect Outdoor Eating/Drinking 8/23/2005

The Pink Door has been a Seattle institution for longer than I can remember (before I was legal to drink). This is a perfect place to meet a group of friends for appetizers and drinks or a great place for a romantic meal. The patio is part of the restaurant - There is a view of the market and some water and the ambiance is great. It can get crowded but there is indoor seating for the overflow. Not touristy - more of an insider's place. Most nights there is some kind of musical entertainment. more
