This is one of my favorite bookstores...I can aways find exactly what I want and there are so many helpful staff ready to assist. It seems when I go to buy books I always find little unique gift items to tuck away for the holidays or to send to a friend. Members of their club now enjoy up to 40% off on many new hardback books...They have a wonderful store and the coupons can be printed from your computer for use in store too... If shopping in a retail store the environment seems to be comfortable and inviting....I am impressed with the knowledge of the staff as a whole..They are not afraid to find someone else to assist you if they feel you are needing information out of their range of expertise...I appreciate that immensely!!!! I have grandchildren and this store really encourages young readers...they hold story hours and have regular activities for children. All in all I find that using B & N satisfies my reading needs and also provides a learned staff to help me when I'm searching for an unusual book... I support independent stores when I can...but over all this is the place I head when craving a new read!!!

Thanksgiving was a wonderful event for our family as usual...we are blessed and thankful for those blessings...since we were visiting from out of town this year and since the hotel wasn't offering ovens and cooking areas...My contribution to the Thanksgiving dinner was to be some "store bought" pies...I wasn't excited about this as I've had the run of the mill chain store bakery pies in the past and have never been very pleased with their mass baking taste...Well House of Pies in the Los Feliz/Silverlake area of LA was the place I researched online to order ahead and pick up on Thanksgiving day...We ordered a Dutch Apple and a Pumpkin and were told to pick them up around noon....When we arrived at this location we were shocked to see the line clear out of the store and winding through the parking lot....So we parked and began the wait...Even though you pre-order you still have to wait in line to do the p/u. We finally arrived inside 54 minute after we got in line... a woman greeted us with the question of pre-order or not?.. We gave our name and order only to find out since it was now 1:30 our Dutch Apple had been sold to someone else and more would be available in 2 hours!!!! the Pumpkin was still waiting for us ...and instead of coming back and renegotiating the line..we opted for Mince pie to take the place of the Dutch Apple.... We rushed home with our treasured pies (9.50 each) and after dinner I whipped some heavy cream and we began the delightful taste tests... I can tell you that I have baked, eaten , tasted and devoured many a pumpkin pie in my life ...and aside from my mother's wonderful pies this was the best I had ever tasted....it was worth every moment of hassle and line standing...every one at our "feast" was delighted with the taste..even those that normally don't indulge in pumpkin pie...then the mince was cut and OMgosh...even I loved it...and this is one pie I have NEVER liked...they were both the best we could have hoped for ...although the business could stand to do a little re-vamping of the pick-up process and could have been more direct about the time line...( as in ...if you are not here at 12 sharp...we sell your pie!!!) It was all worth it....I would do it all again..but next time would pick up my pie the night before!!!! Head out to your local House of Pies...( if you are lucky enough to have one!!!)...make up an occasion if you need to ...just go get some great pie and treat your family and friends!!!

We just purchased some new living room furniture and the people at Bassett Furniture made it an easy task.....They were having a great sale and I was there on the last day of it....I couldn't buy without looking elsewhere so was going to miss the sale price( which was significant) ..My salesman, John, was so nice...he called the main office and got them to extend the extra 15% and the no interest for 6 months...until I could look around and make sure I was getting what I wanted. I had great help with fabric selection ( which is quite varied and includes some superior quality material)...they let me re-design the couch a little, increase the firmness of the cushions, add 2 chairs that weren't on the sale originally and add the top quality fabric for only a fraction of what it was elsewhere. They use a great hardwood for their frames and have a wonderful guarantee....They said it would be 6-8 weeks since I requested so many special touches...and then had it ready for delivery in 3 weeks...I got it today and I must say it is just what I wanted...the delivery people were exceptionally careful due to our down pouring skies...they even wiped up my hardwood floor after they were done . They helped me try the pieces out in different configurations, too!! I thought that was above and beyond!!!! All in all if you are looking for furniture I think they deserve a visit...and if you are in the Southcenter Area...Look up John and he'll take good care of you!!!

It is a bit misleading to call this the West Seattle Eye Clinic as it is located in the 3 Tree building next to Highline Hospital in Burien and in West Seattle. The clinic is great , the one in West Seattle has more trendy and hip frames for your glasses...but the point I want to make is the great Dr.Aaron Weingeist that works at both clinics... He is young, progressive and comes from a background taught by some of Seattle's best Dr's..His father is a well-known eye surgeon and some of his teacher's and mentors are some of the top people in the field here in Seattle...including Dr. Tom Lindquist who was head of the Opthalmology Dept at Virginia Mason for years...If you are looking for a new "eye guy"...try Dr Aaron....he is thorough, and cares.....he has been great for me and my husband is going to leave his specialist to see Dr Weingeist. His number at the West Seattle Clinic is 206-9379600 the Burien office I believe is 206 431-9600..

What a great place to stay in Manhattan...located on E 45th Street and Madison Avenue this hotel is convenient to everything. The staff at the Roosevelt were so accommodating and friendly...I have stayed at many hotels and encountered many employees that simply do their basic jobs with no spirit...Not these people!!! From the bellmen to the doorman..you couldn't find anyone without a smile and a helpful attitude....the housekeepers were the best and the reception staff was top notch...The hotel is home to many conferences and seminars and I can see why it is chosen for such things. From the beautiful lobby with it's exquisite fresh floral arrangements to the well appointed rooms it is a delightful place to hang your hat for a few days..Every day we were greeted by name by the doorman...and any need was filled immediately by the well trained staff...I was so pleased to have had the opportunity to experience such a well run establishment. In Manhattan rooms can be small and cramped..and although this was no penthouse or suite..it was very comfortable and met our every need. From check in to check out we were greeted and treated like they really appreciated our business and with that kind of attitude they will definitely get more of it !!!

Located on E 45th Street in New York City this little pub is the greatest for not only the flavor of it's food but the flavor of the city itself. They offer superior service and extremely tasty pubfare....but their bartenders, servers and clients offer a wealth of information with a local lilt....Whether it was politics, good food, sports, shopping tips, directions or whatever you might need...someone was right there to give directions, tips, and great conversation...The Irish in me was happy to have found a place that felt like I'd been there a thousand times the first time we walked in the door!!!!... When you are in a big city it is very comforting to feel that there are people who really care about others and go out of their way to wlecome you and help you out. Eamon's was that place and although the food wasn't out of this world it was a cut above most deli/pubs and made to taste all the better when served with such great spirit...If you are ever there stop in....they'll greet you like you come every day!!!!

I was recently in Manhattan and had left some cosmetics in Seattle that I was used to having. I did not want to spend a fortune buying things that I would be back home to in a matter of 1 week...so off I went to 5th Avenue...( the most expensive street in the world, they say) and there I found a Sephora...I went in and was treated extremely well from the start. I browsed through their extensive brands of makeup and was amazed at the variety and selections...I enjoyed the fact that although they approach you upon entry about helping you..they really allow you space to seek out your own ideas at your own pace. I found a few things and was going to head to the cashier when I began speaking with one of their consultants and she began to scour the store finding me the smallest sizes and giving me great pointers on what I could substitute for some of the more expensive things I had left behind. I was really appreciative of her knowledge and understanding and she saved me a good amount of money !!! I had never been in a Sephora before this visit but I can tell you I will be a customer of theirs in the future. I sent a card off to the particular store thanking them for their excellent service and knowledgeable staff...they have already responded and offered me a little gift card as a thank you.... What a great place...and in the middle of Manhattan...where everyone says no one cares about anything but a sale!!!! Not true!!! Thumbs up to Sephora for being customer oriented....it sure works for me!!!!

We had done a kitchen remodel and had so much "junque" to be removed from our raised deck...the contractor actually told us that these folks would be less expensive than he could offer his services...so we called them up, scheduled the time and everything went as planned. I believe they had given us a ballpark estimate...and sadly enough I can't remember what the total was....but we had stove, refrigerator and massive heavy things to be moved off our deck...down some pretty steep stairs... they were very innovative and lowered the stove into the truck...we felt so relieved when it was all gone...and they were extremely reasonable as I recall.... they even called ahead to make sure we were ready for them to come and do the pick-up...I do remember having to call them back to get the ballpark figure...but would recommend them from our experience....I got the impression that the crew you get has somewhat to do with the price...ours took some extra stuff for themselves and didn't charge us for those items...

Gotta love this and telephone shopping!!! I have been using QVC since I began buying Northern Nights Sheets... and I get some of the best products from them...As a company they really stand behind their products...anything that hasn't been what I thought it should be has been returned, refunded and sometimes even had the shipping taken off...There are a few favorite jewelery designers that I love and now they design lines for QVC that save me $$$$$$..and I get quality bling!!! There isn't much you can't buy there..I use a guide to see when my favorite things are showing and watch at the top of the hour to see the preview of what they are showing for the hour..then I either order if I see something I want/need...or I jump onto QVC.com and check it out there...The customer service is fabulous and the on line ordering is very easy and informative...lots of free shipping and handling and special sales ....I respect a company that treats it's customers AND employees well...and this is one of those....it's available on cable...I'm not sure about satellite..but seems I have seen it on both....One of my favorite workout companies just came out with a line for QVC and I saved almost 40% and free s&h..... I realize some folks get caught up in the buying frenzy but if you use it like I do..really only looking for the designers I know or the manufacturer's I trust...and don't go overboard..it is both cost effective and convenient.
