I love this hotel. Right when you walk into the lobby, you're swept with the feeling for grandeur and romance. There's gold everywhere (I think i'm just particular to gold), and t...

Worst

This was my first time traveling to Las Vegas, my trip was booked as a package deal with 6 other family members, who have been to Las Vegas over 8 times.

Another disappointment 5/8/2008

The service was impeccable. Food was average. My guest and I ordered a shrimp cocktail to split as an appetizer. The shrimp were divine, but the cocktail sauce tasted like plain catsup. We had to ask for horseradish to add to the sauce. I ordered the roasted top sirloin, my guest ordered the roasted filet and we ordered sauteed spinach, roasted carrots and gratin of potatoes with leeks and roasted garlic. Everything but the carrots and potatoes was salty. I sent my steak back because it was tough (and had no flavor). We wanted to send the spinach back because it was so salty but decided not to after I had already sent back my steak. The was another expensive trip to a celebrity chef restaurant on the strip that wasn't worth it. more

it was just ok 5/5/2008

i have a problem with any high end steakhouse that does not know how to prepair a steak pittsburg rare(black&blue) and craft steak did not pass the test, why anybody who loves prime beef would ever want grass fed beef is beyond me! if you want lean meat eat buffalo, or tenderlion or just eat fish! of course lean meat is more heathy for you but when i am shelling out $100 a steak i dont want healthy ,i want richess and flavor! i cant say that the quality was bad but the preparation was less than great , no char or sear on my ribeye and no seasoning also ,another problem i had was i had to order a huge 40oz ribeye for two if i wanted a dry aged steak (thats what i ordered)i have heard that they offer all kinds of aged prime beef but the night i had dinner that was the only option on the menue for dry aged ,service was not great but not bad sides ok , drinks ok ,would i go again if i had to pay, NO! would i go if it was on sombody else, maybe, all i could think about while i was eating was Tom Coliccio bashing the young chefs on top chef about not seasoning food and poor preparation, hey Tom i think you better stop by you OWN kitchen and give your OWN food a test. Pros: nice room .large menue Cons: preparation , price more

The highlight of my trip! 5/5/2008

I can?t believe I?m the first person to leave a review for this place! \r \r I traveled to Las Vegas on business recently and since the company I work for is working with MGM Mirage we were treated to quite a few of the clubs/shows/restaurants etc. The fact that dinner at a restaurant with only one menu item I could eat (I don?t eat Seafood) was the highlight of my trip has to say something about the place, right?! I had the best Teriyaki Chicken I?ve ever had ? and as someone who doesn?t eat seafood and lives in LA where everyone is always ?going for Sushi? I have eaten more than my fair share of Teriyaki Chicken! \r \r The Sake selection is mind-blowing. I never knew there were so many choices when it came to Sake ?our sommelier even gave us little info cards for each Sake ? very cool. If you feel like splurging do the Sake Tasting - it was fun and we learned a lot.\r \r The girls that I went with both had the tasting ? I can?t find what it was called exactly on their menu online but it was basically a sampling of 7 dishes. Both were very happy with the food and we all agreed it was the best we?d ever eaten in Las Vegas.\r \r Great place to treat yourself!\r \r Pros: The Service, The Presentation of the Food more

Best Guacamole and Margaritas in town, crazy hot latin late night club, outstanding service 4/11/2008

Diego is one of my favorite places to dine at when it comes to Mexican food. As a local it is rare that i make it out to the strip to eat but since i enjoy partying on the strip i occasionally make it out for dinner. The margaritas are fantastic and refreshing and the table side guacamole is the best in town. But my favorite thing Diego has to offer, is the Latin Late Nightclub, Vida on Friday and Saturday nights. The DJ is so talented and they play everything from salsa and meringue to reggae-ton, hiphop and spanish rock. I believe Fridays is some sort of ladies night since ladies never pay to get in plus they raffle off bottle service. The crowd is attractive and energized. Overall, Diego is top choice, the staff is so accommodating and friendly which makes the service great, the food is killer, and the ambience is spectacular. more

This early 30's couple wishes we stayed somewhere else. 4/6/2008

Service: Personal service gets lost at this Vegas giant. Pros: Fun for party goers. Good value. Cons: Poor service. Not romantic. more

OK for big groups, poor for couples 4/6/2008

Food: Porterhouse for two, lobster bisque, and salad were good, not excellent.\r \r Wine: Excellent wines, but no options for the average joe (ie. under $130/bottle).\r \r Ambiance: Noisy and busy. My wife and I had to shout to cary on a conversation.\r \r Service: Honestly, I have had better service at applebees. Not what I was expecting for the $$$. \r \r Summary: There are better places to eat in Vegas (including MGM)...don't wast your time and money here.\r Pros: Good food. Cons: Service; ambience; value. more

MGM Shibuya Means ""Trail-Sour Pack Horse for Inexperienced Tourist"" in Vegas-ease 4/1/2008

Decor & ambience are the best features. Sorry. Check that. Sake is the best feature here. Hope you LOVE sake. If you don't care about sushi or your money but love fun drinky-poos, hang out here. If you do care about superb sushi &/or excellent experiential value for your money, but a few cool adult beverages make you happily forget those annoying elitist worries, this is the place to be. For everyone else: Service is superb until it's time to for the bill & they suddenly disappear. Other high-priced Vegas joints can't wait to turn the table over & even seem to bask in the ""wow your bill is SOOO Big!"" Here, they don't even push desserts or digestives or more sake for that matter. That's probably the weirdest phenom you'll encounter here & it's kinda not that bad. Especially if you need a quick nap before you head to wait in line for one of the mega-clubs. Now that I think of it, this place is like one of those fancy Asian sleep-pod hotels. Only you wake up $300 USD lighter, hungry &slightly disoriented with deja vu that you just ate a sushi dinner in a fancy place but the food was Red Lobster on a good day. Yet, like EVERYTHING in Vegas, looks are deceiving & the Japanese chefs at the sushi bar are making TOMORROW's rolls. For those of you just waking up in your Jap-pod: this place does not serve the freshest sushi. Even cooked sushi was served at wrong temps. Just ask them. Why would your server lie & spoil your special trip that is maxing your credit cards? If you really REALLY love sushi, that means you avoid rolls, ask for the daily list of nigiri, order sashimi, or have a super-specific favorite that isn't yellowtail, toro, salmon, eel, cooked shrimp or mayonnaise. If this sort of even a tiny little bit describes you: don't eat here. This place is not about sushi just like casinos are not about winners. Anyone who posts positive comments here about this place are displaying cognitive dissonance. This place isn't the worst, it's just expensive to figure that out. Pros: Exotic way to get drunk or fun method of quickly draining an expense account Cons: It is just one big CON more

Incredibly Delicious Food, Beautiful Setting. 3/31/2008

We just went to Vegas for the weekend and I made a reservation about\r a week in advance for Craftsteak. We were really looking forward to it,\r and it did not disappoint!!! My wife and I each had the Filet Mignon, and\r they were spectacular. SO PERFECTLY COOKED AND DELICIOUS.\r The only negative was they were a little too large for us at 10 oz. each.\r The Shrimp Cocktail might be the finest I have ever had, only the cocktail\r sauce was extremely mild. I'm not big on horse-radish at all, but I \r believe you should be able to taste it a little. You could tell there was a \r hint of it, but that's it. Anyway, the shrimp were pristine. Firm, fresh, cold,\r and very tasty. Beautiful. I know it's a simple dish, but that's all the more\r reason it needs to be nailed, perfectly!!! My wife's Spinach Salad\r with a truffle-oil dressing was very simple but very good as well. Also\r we had Sauteed Baby Broccoli, which was SO delicious!!! For dessert we\r had the Apple Crisp with Vanilla Ice Cream. Incredible!!!\r \r \r We were so happy with our meal, and the excellent service. It was one\r of our best meals ever. The only Steak we could remember enjoying more\r was at Dylan Prime in NYC, and not by much. Pros: Incredibly Delicious, Simple Food!!! Cons: Pretty Expensive!!! more

Great place for eating and party all night 3/27/2008

I loved this place, the day i went the staff was very friendly and invited me to come during the night. The food was great, the place is clean and the staff is very friendly. I dicided to visit that night and I stay until 5:00 am it was the best night in Las Vegas. I dance until they closed the place and the next morning I felt all my body ache for all the dancing. You need to visit this place if you want to eat good and para mover el esqueleto toda la noche. Pros: everything was perfect Cons: non more

disappointing...save your time and money and go elsewhere 3/24/2008

We decided to go to Tabu for a birthday party and had a good size group (9 girls and 3 guys). We had reservations for a table and when we got there the guy at the door (Charlie) said he "forgot about the reservation." He pretends to scrabble to get a table and then starts to get really agitated that we had 3 guys with us. He tells us that he has to charge a cover for the guys ($20/per) if we want our table. He ended up charging the guys half price. In my opinion still too much for what was inside. When we got sat at the table I noticed several other tables still open (which never got filled while we where there). Only thing going for this place is the music, great DJ. There is little to no dance floor and the entire place is disappointing small. Needless to say, after our bottle was empty we headed over to Studio 54 where we all had a GREAT time. I've been to other ultra lounges on the strip and I will never go back to this one. Pros: good music Cons: rude door man, small place, no dance floor more

Tasting Menu 3/22/2008

I chose to write this review as we have been home for 2 weeks and am craving their Lobster PotPie. If there was a way to live out a Visa commercial, hop on a plane and head for dinner tonight- I would! We could not decide between the wonderful options on their menu so we chose to go for the 'tastings' menu and was so glad we did. It is a bit expensive at $125 per person (and all at the table have to order it) however compared to many other tasting menus- it's a great deal--- epecially considering one of the courses was a Kobe beef and Foie Gras which was avail on their menu for $35 and ounce. The Lobster PotPie was superb! We also loved the chicken dish which was perfectly cooked and served with a delicious truffle mac and cheese! The sample menu provided generous portions and they were even willing to make a substitution. The service was wonderul -start to finish. The chef even sent out a cup of a special hot chocolate at the end of out menu which was wonderful- although we were stuffed! The worst part was that the bread they sent out was wonderful but we couldn't fill up before the other courses arrived. Truely a special place, wonderful food and the best service (from all staff) we had our whole trip. Pros: Excellent Food and Service Cons: Hard to decide from all the wonderful menu options and - You should refrain from filling up on the bread but it's so good - you can't! more

Great steak and great service! 3/16/2008

Craftsteak is my favorite restaurant on the planet!!! The kobe beef tartare is sinful! I love the beet salad. The steak is always perfect! The sides are gigantic and there is always a great variety. The portions are huge...we always order way too much food. It all sounds so good we can't help ourselves. The service is always top notch. The bar is also a good place to eat if you are in a hurry or you can't get a reservation. My only less than positive comment is that I am never especially impressed by the dessert. We usually opt out or do an ice cream/sorbet sampler. The pastries do not match up to the stellar food and service. My suggestion is order several appetizers and sides, split a steak, and skip dessert. more

Now The Worst Hotel On The Strip 3/6/2008

I am very fond of the MGM/Mirage hotels. I?m a common Vegas vacationer with a hunger for entertainment, great food, and of course the gaming. I have stayed at most the hotels on the strip and old town; I have to say that the MGM is the worst in almost every way. This season I spent the first 3 nights at Mandalay Bay, which was a treat as usual, but ended my last 5 at MGM. I needed in my room while my girl was away with the key. I called the front desk; she said she would send someone up. I was treated very rudely. I followed up after I waited half an hour and then just went to the front desk. I was then told I wasn?t checked into the room. (When I had been added to the room when my girl check in). I had to wait for my girlfriend to come to the front desk to then check me in again. I played a lot of Blackjack between MGM and Luxor. I dropped about 3K evenly over two. Grant it, it?s not a big Vegas sum, but good gamer?s amount. It was like pulling teeth to get them to take my players card. I know because I wouldn?t start really betting until they got it. By the end of the trip we went to check out. We had an offer w/ our players cards that gave us the third night free & $25 food. After checking our players cards they wouldn't honor the third night free and said we didn?t qualify for the $25 food credit. WHAT A REDICULASLY SMALL AMOUNT OF MONEY TO HASTLE US ABOUT. They charged the wrong card after we specifically had them run a different card then the one we booked the reservation with. Our friends that met us at MGM, and who also stayed were double billed. We went back later and DID get it resolved. The rooms were not well dont by housekeeping. The bartenders at Rouge were unaccommodating. My 5 star lady was very unhappy with her stay. Im usually happy wherever I am but I left the MGM feeling like a small-time unwanted guest. Pros: Lion Habitat, Good Casual Restaurants, 11am & 6pm Poker Tournys Cons: Poor Housekeeping, Snooty Gaming, Unaccommodating, 1980 MGM Fire took 80 people more

Fantastic Dinner - Best of Vegas! 2/11/2008

This was a fantastic place to eat. We were there to celebrate my husband's birthday and we were not disappointed. The service was impeccable - both of our servers were knowledgeable and friendly. This is a very elegant, beautiful restaurant, without being pretentious. I highly recommend following your server's recommendations: our server suggested the seasonal scallops and they were heavenly. The Kobe beef is just as wonderful as expected and the portions are perfect. The asparagus, as mentioned in an earlier review, was delicious. We did not stay for dessert, because we were just too full, however, I highly recommend the Sidecar Martini. This is the perfect place for atmosphere, upscale dining, and impeccable service. If you want some privacy, request a booth. Don't miss out on this place - it is a fabulous splurge and well worth the money. Pros: Service, Atmosphere, Great Food more

Beautiful evening 2/6/2008

We went here to celebrate our anniversary last month. All I can say is bravo! From the wine selection to the dessert offerings it was just an incredible experience. The wait staff was attentive without being intrusive. We will return! Pros: Ambience, service, food Cons: Didn't notice any more

Not your normal mexican 2/6/2008

This is a diffent spin on Mexican which I was excited about at first. Service is okay, food is okay. The portions are small and expensive. We would have probably enjoyed it more if not so expensive for what you get. more

Nice Experience VERY BIG 2/6/2008

We ended up at the MGM Grand after the fire at Monte Carlo and really enjoyed are stay. The hotel is VERY LARGE and a little confusing so I recommend taking the map they give you and take a nice walk around to help make sense of the layout so you don't get lost your entire stay. Being so large it has food, shopping and entertainment at all price levels instead of all expensive or not expensive. Service was good throughout the resort. It was a little cold in February so we didn't get to experience the pools. The gym is small in size but has everything you need. more

Sick to my stomach! 1/29/2008

Do not go to Nob Hill if you now what is good for you. I had their ""signature"" dish the lobster pie, and I was up all night in the bathroom vo miting, as well as severe diahrrea for the next 2 days. For a whole day I was in bed, because I was dizzy, could not move, and sick to my stomach. I missed out on a whole day in Las Vegas because of their disgusting food. When I called the manager, he did not help at all and kept denying the fact that it was his dish that caused me to be sick. If you want to waste 2 days in bed in Las Vegas than go to this restaurant, if you are sensible at all stay clear. Pros: They kept the bread warm Cons: the food more
