I love this hotel. Right when you walk into the lobby, you're swept with the feeling for grandeur and romance. There's gold everywhere (I think i'm just particular to gold), and t...

This was my first time traveling to Las Vegas, my trip was booked as a package deal with 6 other family members, who have been to Las Vegas over 8 times.

Reservations recommended, sit at the sushi bar 8/19/2006

My husband and I had an amazing dining experience at Shibuya! We did not have reservations and were seated at the Sushi bar immediately (fortunately there were two available seats there). There was so much to choose from. As we were watching the sushi chefs prepare the different kinds of sushi we saw something that looked delicious and asked what it was. After expalining it to us he told us to let him know when we were ready to order and he would let our waiter know what we wanted to order. I love sushi and that was a fabulous meal! Fabulous service, great food and a great atmosphere! A little noisy and fast paced and pricey, but definitely worth it! I loved it! Pros: Ambience and service Cons: A little noisy more

MGM not so grand 8/13/2006

It is Grand at least the casino area and lobby. Only one central elevator is a bit of a nuisance considering the size of the hotel... unless there were others and we just hadn't found them. Of the hotel/casinos on the strip this is one of the least smokey! A Big positive for this asthmatic. Only on the weekend in the casino did you really notice and smoke. Pros: you wouldn't have to leave the hotel if you didn't want to Cons: noise, lack of in room amenities more

Everything was GRAND 7/31/2006

We came to Vegas to get married and stayed at the MGM. There were two seperate parties also saying at the hotel who were attending the wedding. We booked our trip through Priceline; I read other reviewers and I MUST ABSOLUTELY MUST RECOMMEND CHECKING INTO THE HOTEL FROM THE AIRPORT! There is a MGM courtesy desk at the baggage claim level in the airport. There was NO LINE, NO WAIT! We were able to get our keys, AND we were able to make sure our other parties were on the same floor as us (THE MGM GRAND IS HUGE!). The desk clerks were happy to help us keep our party together. It was no problem at all. On to the hotel- Let me start off by saying, everything was grand. The parking lot was hugely grand... We walked in and was very surprised by a unique aroma, very different from other hotels. We got to our floor and was impressed by the large scale hallways. Our room was beautiful. I loved all the beautiful framed MGM photos. It was very classy. The best thing I loved about our King room was the extra pillows, couch and bathroom. The bathtub was so roomy, I actually took a bath before the wedding to relax, and I'm a 250 lb person! My wife enjoyed the wall length mirror and other bathroom amenties. We very much enjoyed our stay at the MGM Grand. We had dreams we were still there. The two other parties (in seperate rooms, same floor) also had extravagant rooms. There wasn't a complaint out of us! Pros: We were feeling LUCKY, everything was GRAND more

GRAND BREAKFAST! 7/31/2006

We loved the MGM Grand buffet's BREAKFAST so much we ate there three days in a row! We had all the orange juice, coffee, tea, milk, food you could ask for for the very low price of $13.95.\r \r Eggs benedict, create your own omelett, the works! I especially enjoyed the turkey/pork sausage as well as the very creative California scramble! Oh I wish I was in Vegas now! Pros: great service, great food, no line Cons: Get there early, after 10am it will be PACKED! more

Too Big For me 7/22/2006

I went with my husband on a business convention. I am so glad I insisted on airport check in that took on hour! When we got to the hotel it was full of people on conventions waiting 2 hours and 3 hours and they still didn't get checked in. The hotel KNOWS they are having conventions but they aren't prepared!! We were told to wait 2 hours for our suitcases and I got angry and said I was coming down for them, after a 6 hour plane ride I was changing my clothes!! Then the room key didn't work a few times and I had to wait for security. Since the hotel is so BIG,they should have a coffee maker in the room. The room was nice, not very big, but alright and clean. I just don't like the long walks to eat and get coffee. Sometimes the staff was friendly at times they weren't. Not sure I would go again Pros: TOO BIG more

Don't book MGM Grand Las Vegas from the web-7/2/06-7/4/06 7/5/2006

If you book with online promo with MGM Grand LV you can end up like we did and get moved more than a mile off from the strip, and they dont care about you or your vacation. When we got to the hotel to check in, the line was 20 people deep clear across the entire lobby, we waited in line for over an hour and while we were in line we were wondering why it was taking so long for it to move. Then when we finally got to the front desk clerk it became all to clear why the line was moving so slowly, many people (including us) were getting bumped to some crummy hotel miles away from the strip. I did my best to complain and demand that we dont get moved but all the managers would say is that they reserve the right to bump us to any other hotel they choose, frequently saying to us I completely Understand so after complaining for 20 minutes it was very clear that we had no choice. We had to ask for money for the cab to take us to our new hotel and we had to fight for some sort of compensation which turned out to be $50.00 credit for a food room charge but no matter what they offered it could not make up for halving to go somewhere we didnt want to stay. For us our itinerary was ruined most of our two day stay was spent complaining to hotel management standing in long lines and being told by hotel staff that we complained to I Completely Understand! We also called up United Escape reservations and told them out plight, the lady called up MGM but she could not help us and basically told us the same story the MGM management told, neither United Escape nor MGM cared about us. On the second day we checked into the West Wing room and check in wasnt until 3PM. When we finally got to the room it was like a modern mausoleum, it was dark, small, air conditioner barley kept up with the heat, no inside door, the bed was too stiff, also, in the morning the housekeeping just let herself into the room while we were sleeping waking us up at 9AM. Pros: Pool/Lazy River, high class restaurants Cons: Bad front desk service, bad check in process, overbook without notice and send off hotel guests to miles off strip small hotel more

Excellent dining experience 6/26/2006

The overall service was wonderful. The waiter was very attentive and unobtrusive when serving. Highly recommend the tiramisu. I had the penne with bolognese sauce - quite excellent. My dining partner had the ravioli stuffed with flank steak. Very good as well. Make sure you make reservations and dress appropriately. It is definitely not your mom and pop italian restaurant. worth the money. more

If I could only eat here everyday!!!!! 6/25/2006

All I can say is WOW!!! Actually a lot more. Our dinner (06/24/06) was absolutely incredible. After looking at the menu, and with recommendation from our waiter Kevin, who was great, we decided to order the Chef's Sampling Menu. We ordered the Surf & Turf which included Kobe beef and Alaskan King Crab Legs.\r \r The meal started off with a little tidbit from the chef, two little pieces of bread topped with a tomato paste & white bean paste. Next were the appetizers, Arugala Salad, Scallops (which were to die for), and Red Peppers. I am not a fan of Peppers, but these were incredible.\r \r Dinner: 2 styles of Kobe Beef; Skirt steak, which was my favorite and filet. Fresh Corn which was grilled and then schucked off the cob, pureed potatoes, along with an assortment of mushrooms. The Alaskan King Crab legs were already shelled and in a wonderful butter sauce\r \r Dessert: 4 flavors of IceCream; Peanut, Caramel, Pineapple Sorbet, Strawberry Sorbet. Monkey bread, a bed of Citrus fruit.\r \r Believe me when I say that everything was incredible!!! Even though I am not a fan of some stuff, Crab included, it was delicious!!! I would definitely recommend this restaurant. One one note though, if you do go keep in mind that everything on the menu is ala carte. And it is very pricey. For the two of us our meal including drinks was slightly over $300. This does not include the tip\r \r So If you don't mind spending money on incredible, to die for food, Craftsteak is the choice. I am soooo looking forward to our next trip to Vegas!!! Pros: Ambience, Out of this World Food, Service Cons: Price, and thats only if you don't like paying for good food. more

AWESOME 6/1/2006

This show is guaranteed to shake you out of your seat. The speakers are wired into every seat and the score is exsquisite. From the massive floating stage to the depths of the abyss things, including a sinking ship, fall into strain your mind in awe. Enchanted forest and creatures to snow storms with falling ice projected skyward keep you asking ""what else can they think of?"" Worth every cent of the $125.00-$150.00 ticket price. Pros: score, costumes, sets more

Worth at Least One Visit 5/30/2006

This is a fantastic resturant if you are ready and willing to pay the price. The Kobe skirt steak was unbelievable as was the spinach. The filet was standard but good and the wine was wonderful. You MUST try the cinnamon monkey bread for desert and the vanilla ice cream - both to die for! Service was immpecable, good humored and not the least bit uppity. The one downside is that we were dining on a crowded night and it was very, very loud. It was impossible to have a conversation at a normal level until some of the large groups moved out. It definatley took some of the romance out of it. With several large tables and booths that could be made larger they appeared to be able to handle large groups well and there was a private dining room. Pros: service/staff, food, wine Cons: price, noisy more

Amazing! 5/23/2006

I don't know what show a lot of these other reviewers saw. Ka is wonderful. It has a storyline, is incredibly theatrical, and just breathtaking. Definitely a MUST SEE in Vegas. more

Very Good 5/23/2006

I went there with 13 other guys for a bachelor party dinner after not being able to get a table at Craftsteak. Aside from the bread taking forever to get to the table, the food and service were pretty much perfect. I had oysters, a raw tuna appetizer, and a 14oz. bone-in New York steak. After a day of drinking by the pool, a piece of fish wasn't going to cut it. The tuna was superb. The oyster was fresh and delicious and the steak was cooked perfectly and had great beef flavour. It was equal or better than I've had at some L.A. steakhouses. For a couple drinks, food and tip, the bill came to about $100/person, which is cheaper than sitting at a blackjack table for 15 minutes. Pros: Food Cons: Not removed from MGM more

Way Overpriced 5/15/2006

There was absolutely nothing special about this place with the exception of the prices. I expect to pay $$$ for quality on the strip, but the cost here was ridiculous. We were seated 10 min late because the staff was having a meeting. Simply average teppan and sushi with mediocre service at an outrageous price. Courses were served on top of each other and drinks disregarded (except the iceless water). Save your $$, find a local Shogun with better food and service. Cons: Price, Service, Food more

Absolutely the best food and food experience 4/25/2006

I have been there twice, and each time was heaven, the steak is the best I have ever had by a large margin. I want to qualify that statement by saying that I am a food snob that almost always cooks gourmet at home. I have been to Rush's Chris, Peter Luger and many more and this restaurant does it better then any of them. The sides are tremendous and the service is top notch. I would like to note that I have had the ""grass feed"" steak, and it was not that great. I would highly recommend the porter house, rare. If you are getting your steak anything higher then medium I would recommend you do not submit a comment. Pros: food, service more

Skip it! Disappointing 4/21/2006

This show was extremely disappointing. There were a few entertaining parts and the set & stage are fantastic. BUT the show itself follows too much of a story. This show is not the flying around the theatre, acrobatic performance you expect to see at a Cirque show. At one point in the show, they were doing shadow puppets with their fingers. This is not what we paid $100 a seat to see. If I wasn't sitting right in the middle of the row & had to climb over a dozen people I swear I would have walked out of this performance. If you're going to drop $100 on a ticket see ANY OTHER Cirque show but this one!!!! Pros: The set, the stage Cons: lack of acrobats, too much story, not live music more

Quite a disappointment 4/18/2006

While the show did have some entertaining parts, overall it was a disappointment. I saw it with five women and the overall consensus was that it was a letdown. The set is interesting, but the storyline was difficult to follow and the show lacked in the expected Cirque acrobatics. I'm not sure why it is getting such great reviews. I've seen three other Cirque du Soleil shows and this was my least favorite. Save your $125 for ""O"" of any other Vegas show. Some of us even napped during the performance--if that tells you anything. Pros: spacious seats more

Not Worth the Price 3/24/2006

I am Japanese and Japanese people are very picky when it comes to sushi rice. I don't know if I went to a bad day or not. But the sushi rice that I had was dry and a little bit hard. And I was really disappointed to find that even though they had Japanese people as sushi chefs, they couldn't make sushi rice correctly. I just couldn't believe that they actually served the kind of sushi rice to customers at this kind of upscale restaurant. Anyways, I stopped eating after having 4 orders of sushi because the sushi rice was that bad. But I really loved their appetizer and sake. And the interior was superb. Pros: Good Atmosphere, Good Appetizer, Good Sake Cons: Bad Sushi Rice, Not Worth the Price more
