This was my first time traveling to Las Vegas, my trip was booked as a package deal with 6 other family members, who have been to Las Vegas over 8 times.

Not impresssed 6/25/2009

My husband really wanted to go to this restaurant. So when I called to make reservations, I was informed that there was a dress code. We really dressed up and looked nice. When we got there, we were told we'd have to wait a few minutes (it wasnt quite 530 and they dont start serving dinner until 530) so we waited nearby. Right after we checked in, this family who were dressed sloppily walks up and says they have reservations for 530. They were seated immediately and we were STILL waiting! Why were they seated before 530 and we had to wait?! Then we were seated next to a family with a screaming baby-oh great! I love ear piercing noises when I want to enjoy a nice meal.\r The food was mediocre, not great. It certainly wasn't worth $45 per person! Cons: overpriced, service not good more

Kudo's to the chef! 6/24/2009

This is one of the best dining experiences I've ever had.. The food is insane amazing, atmosphere is great and the chef is young and handsome (at least I think it was the chef). I would recommend everyone experience this restaurant. My personal favorites were the Branzino (delish fish), Salmon and the Arancine (crispy ball that has KOBE beef, ummm). Excellent!! KUDOS TO THE CHEF! Pros: Amazing Salmon Cons: NONE! more

Worth It 2/26/2009

My boyfriend and I ate here for his birthday last year in August. We were staying at the MGM and were early for our reservation. Within a few minutes we were sat at a table. The server was very polite and friendly. We ordered the summer tasting tasting menu that changes every season and every course as served family style. For the first course we had grilled quail, roasted red peppers, and a cucumber salad. All were simple and tasty. For the main we had grilled filet, roasted chicken, and diver scallops plus sides. We ordered the steak rare and it came out perfect. The steak came out sliced, it was seasoned well, and cut like butter. The roasted chicken was delicious and moist; the scallops were cooked well. As sides we had the potato puree, sauteed corn, and roasted mushrooms; all of which were excellent. The dessert was chef's choice. We had bread pudding and a berry crisp with vanilla ice cream. There was definitely a lot of food and the tasting menu was only $65 per person (and only $30 more per person for wine pairings for each course). The whole experience was pleasant. The service was excellent. The staff was very attentive and knowledgable. I have definitely recommended this place to friends and family. Pros: Quality food more

Perfection 2/16/2009

My husband and I ate here on our wedding night (2/29/08). We didn't read any reviews before going here. In fact, we had never heard of the place before. We were staying at the MGM and wanted steaks, so we headed here. We didn't have reservations but were lucky enough to have been seated within 10 minutes of arriving. The atmosphere was very nice... dim lighting, romantic music softly playing in background, and somewhat private booths. We shared the porterhouse steak (one of our favorite cuts), friscee salad, and fingerling potatoes. The salad was served with large bits of bacon and warm dressing and tasted amazing. The steak comes to the table on a single plate for sharing as well as the potatoes. To our surprise, the steak was already sliced and put back together like a puzzle. It was seasoned just right and was unbelievably juicy. The potatoes were sooo good. I usually add salt and pepper to potatoes, but these were so good I didn't want to mess them up with over salting. Interesting enough, there was no salt or pepper on the table or any other table for that matter! They really know how to season food at this place. The bearnaise sauce was the best I've ever had. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it. It was the perfect compliment to the meal. By the end of the meal we were so full we didn't have room for dessert. Instead we relaxed at the table with our drinks for a bit while we waited for the bill. The total bill, including drinks came to under $200. It was an incredible meal, the perfect atmosphere, and great service. My husband and I plan to visit many other Vegas steakhouses in the future but this steakhouse will be very hard to top. Pros: Very well seasoned entrees Cons: Dress code not enforced more

PARTY TILL THE COWS COME HOME! 2/9/2009

I had to follow a reader's suggestion and decided to check out their Latin night. \r SInce we were hungry though we figured we'd have dinner prior to partying. The dinner was great all together. I had the chile rellenos/ Chile rellenos tell you whether a Mexican restaurant is good or not. They passed the test since the chiles were like the ones made in Mexico City, full of cheese, a bit spicy and a nice coating of egg whites. Most places dip their rellenos in a mixture of scrambled eggs, so when they are placed in the sauce, the egg mixture just falls off. That is my personal test and Diego passed with flying colors. There were a couple of small glitches with their ""ceviche"" but they were prompt to fix them. The service was great, very friendly staff. They were busy but it did not affect the service.\r Now for the best part. Vida their Latin club was awesome. After dinner the server offered us complimentary stay for the club (more money for drinks).\r The place was packed but if you park yourslef close to the bar, that is where the action is. Lots of dancing and partying with strangers. Amazingly we lasted til the end. The DJ played a great set including Vicente Fernandez as a partying rally. \r We're going back> Pros: All of it Cons: ceviche more

what an outstanding restaurant 1/27/2009

I'd taken a vacation to Las Vegas last weekend with my girlfriend and I decided to stay at the MGM Grand. My girlfriend and I had decided to eat over at shibuya since we've heard from other friends that it was one of the greatest places to eat. I must say, the food such as the sushi, the soup, and desserts tasted so good that I can honestly say its the best eating I've ever had in the past few months. The prices were reasonable, but to be honest, the service that I got from the servers that night, made it all worth it. My girlfriend and I agreed that it's a place that we'd recommend to anyone.\r \r During our meal our servers were making us warm and welcome. I decided to ask our server to get us refills on our waters. We decided to order something else but we remembered that we asked our server for the refill, so we asked this mexican lady if we could place another order. She was so rude to us, she looked at us and said no, your server is the one who will take care of that. I politely asked for her name, and she it was Celene and that she was the manager. I told her, there is no reason to be rude to us, she just turned around and walked away without apologizing. She just gave us that look.\r \r The reason why I didn't give this restaurant 5 stars, was because of that single incident with that manager. She was just horrible. Pros: the food and the customer service more

Heck this hotel has it all, great resturants, people and location. I love Wolfgang Pucks! You can take a taxi and be at any part of the strip in 5 minutes. Cant wait for City Center to be completed! Pros: Great location! Great people Cons: ?? cant think of any! more

Good hotel choice 1/19/2009

Don't be concerned about staying at the MGM Grand. It's a good place from the 1 night experience we had here. We were able to get $75/night rooms with a $35 restaurant credit. We got to the hotel at 9 am and went to the check in counter to see if we could get our rooms early, even though official check in wasn't until 3 pm. They told us the rooms were being cleaned and to call the front desk in an hour and the rooms should be ready. Sure enough, we were able to get in. This is on a Thursday keep in mind. Fast elevators in this place! There are so many elevators for each wing that you rarely have to wait more than 30 seconds for one. The rooms have an old Hollywood theme and is very art deco. Very comfortable beds! I didn't want to get out of bed the next morning they were that good. The rooms and bathrooms were decorated nicely, though not as nice as say, The Mirage. The staff at the MGM was very helpful and addressed any concerns and questions promptly. Beautiful cocktail waitress staff in the casino, though not at scantily clad dressed as some of the other casinos. Yes, this place is big...you will walk a lot! Lots of nice looking restaurants to choose from, though they are all pricey. Expect to spend $30-60/meal at most of these places. A note about the restaurant credit: We thought they would just give us a coupon that we could use at the MGM's restaurants, but you actually have to charge the meal to the room, and they will take the $35 off the bill. We didn't know this, so we missed out. Oh well, nice to know for next time. Pros: comfortable beds, lots of nice restaurants, hot people watching Cons: A lot of walking....this is a big place. All restaurants were very expensive more

I had the pleasure of helping along time friend plan her wedding this was her second marriage so it wasn't going to be a huge event. I advised her of all the casnios had chapels she chose to have her wedding at this one and it just so happens that she was already planning on statying at the MGM. The Chapel was nice and the director she was awesome. The Packages are nicely priced as well i have told lots of friends about this place. Nice Work. more

Very disappointed in accomodations and customer service 12/29/2008

We took our first trip to LV and figured that the MGM Grand had a great reputation, s o we went with this hotel. We will never go again. First, we waited 2 hours in line as they had overbooked and were farming people out to the Towers, which I hear is very nice, but why did I have to wait because they overbooked? The management crew were a young mand and woman, who after being yelled at a few times, decided they would take care of matters from behind the desk. We waited 2 hours to go to a room on the 3rd floor; we walked down a long and dirty (can they clean the rugs once in a while?)hallway to a smelly (sewage smell each time we walked to our room through the West Wing Bar) bar and then to our room. The room itself was sparse, but nice. Only one chair for my husbnd and I to sit in; No privacy at all; bathroom right on top of the room. It was a disappointing first experience; especially since we picked it because of the name. I must say that the MGM was the best for gambling. The gambling area was very nice, the people working the tables were very nice and the MGM has a good exhaust system that took away most of the smoke smell. The waitresses were very nice and prompt! We actually went to many casinos, and we found that the MGM and NY NY were the best for the smoky smells and service. We LOVED NYNY and if we go back will stay there. Pros: Casino workers great; in casino, very satisdied Cons: 3rd floor hotel room; walk to hotel room, filthy & smelled like sewage in halls more

You'll Dream About the Lobster P-t Pie! 11/21/2008

During a previous visit to Las Vegas, I'd gone by Michael Mina at the Bellagio and noticed the lobster p-t pie on the menu. (For some reason, Citysearch, doesn't allow the middle word of the dish.) I'd noticed it on the Nobhill menu as well, which was preferable, as the Nobhill menu overall was a bit more to my liking and price range. \r \r We were provided an amuse bouche of cucumber gelee with dungenous crab that was refreshing. I started with the trio of soups -- the tomato soup with crab grilled cheese sandwich was to die for! Then I had the lobster p-t pie that I'd been yearning to try. It was well worth the wait and the price (MP on the menu, $95 that night)!!! It is a whole production, as they wheel a cart to the table with a p-t on it, covered with the crust. They remove the crust and take out the lobster and vegetables to place beautifully on the crust. They use a whole lobster -- which was sweet and meaty. It was truly the best dish I've had in my life! I was stuffed beyond belief, but I made myself eat the whole thing because it was sooo delicious!\r \r The people beside us wanted to get the lobster p-t pie, but opted not to when they found out the price. I have to say that it is absolutely worth the price -- don't let it deter you.\r \r We were too stuffed for dessert, and were given an espresso s'more taster. Not that it mattered after the lobster p-t pie! (As an aside, the short ribs were also good.) Give it a try! Pros: Lobster P-t Pie, Ambience Cons: None! more

Spectacular food must try 10/21/2008

I laugh when I see some of the comments people who want to eat for less than $40pp in Hotels on the strip should go to the Buffet not in fine dinings.\r Friends recomended Shibuya to us last year, we've been 2 times since, our experience was amazing every time. We must say both time Shibuya was better than well known highly rated Nobu and other praised sushi places.\r Great flavors, textures, amazing presentations of innovative food did it for us ( if some classic like Miso black cod, spicy rock shrimp tempura, california roll are there "" I imagine it is a must have to please the tipical demanding spoiled American customers"") \r Even so it seems a bit pushy at times service was good ""nowadays waiters are vendors more than servers, but thay had great sake and food knowledge, it seems like there is something for everyone with differents taste and wallet's budget, we have eaten great a la carte for aroud $80 each before. They had a $58 menu that seemed to be of great value but decided to go for the $130 Omakase tasting ""worse every pennies"", well balance with very fresh sashimi dressed with special sauces, signature hot dishes top notch (hard to find in any Japanese restaurant) well executed dishes ""we understood when the server told us they have a French executive chef that teamed up with Japanese master sushi chef"". This place must do over 600 covers but still pulled of such a great performance with timing, presentation and quality of about 14 dishes in 7-8 courses, we ate in 1 hours and 20 minutes, well delivered as we mentioned we where going to a Show. I guess a Chef that can pull this off in those conditions is a true master of his trade, the restaurant was packed. Michelin guide must have forgotten to visit there as it is was far better than a lot for Japanese one michelin star we've been to a New-York and Los Angeles. \r \r Pros: Spectacular Food Cons: Noisy more
