Olive has some right tasty eats and good drinks, but it can be rather difficult getting a server to get you these. The server was nice enough, but not very attentive. The place is...

Olive is the Best Restaraunt in Town 8/15/2002

I LOVE Olive because I can go there and hear great music at a volume that is just perfect for still talking to friends, have very good cocktails and eat a big dinner or a little something depending on how hungry I am. The food is great, the service is warm and friendly and the walls are covered with good art. Pros: good food, friendly service, fooddrink happy hour Cons: garage parking, or taxi more

Pour olive juice on me and call me dirty 7/26/2002

This place rocks! If you can handle trompin' throught the 'loin to get there, it is well worth the effort. Great food, drinks, awesome relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended for a date - out of the way enough that he/she will think you are very hip and sophisticated ... not the same ol' Marina thang. more

Good Stop 7/26/2002

Olive, not a bad place to stop in for a cocktail and some small plates. The food quality is about average but the location and the space makes this a decent place to hang out, meet people for a drink, synch up before a concert at the Great American Music Hall ect... Pros: location, atmosphere Cons: average food, snotty crowd more

stylish and affordable 7/11/2002

This is a nice somewhat classy spot in the heart of the Tenderloin. Perfect for after-work drinks. They also have a great happy hour with $5 martinis and half-off their pizzas. Highly recommended if you are watching your wallet. more

  • The Scene
From the outside, this hideaway looks like a wood cabin. Inside, there are no windows, but considering the less-than-scenic surroundings, it's a good thing. The overall vibe is fun, artsy lounge. Sultry music pours out of seakers, while candles and dim lamps illuminate the small, high-ceilinged space. Paintings of mostly olives dot the walls--including a simple, Warholian-like print over the bar.

    The Draw
Drinks are expertly prepared, like the chocolate martini, which is served with tasty shavings lining the rim. Rotating vodka infusions, like wheat grass-kiwi or mango-plum, are served with a wedge of fruit (which alone packs enough punch to get a lightweight loaded). Light fare includes tuna with wonton chips and a wild mushroom and truffle oil pizza.
