I just received a telephone call from my stylist who has been there FOREVER, and this place (finally!) has closed. Ever since it changed from Pierre and Carlo, it has been disgusting. The last time I was there, it was dirty, falling apart, and they actually had an employee fixing a leak near the sinks. Utter disgrace. If it weren't for Barbara Lutz, I would never have returned there. I will HAPPILY move on to where Barbara is now.....she is the absolute greatest. Good riddance to a place that never deserved to be open. Their total lack of class brings them what they deserve. more

i am appaled by what is happening at Halcyon. When i was in the salon on Augiust 13th I asked the receptionist to schedule my appointemnts for the next several months. Together we set up my schedule for three months. I was in the salon on September 16th with my daughter in law. i thought i would confirm . The receptionist informed me that there was nothing in the book for me......I scheduled again. the difference is this time I am not able to get my normal Saturday appointments because of her error. Oh well, at least I will be able to get a haircut. I was back at the salon on September 18th for my monthly appointment. Something told me to ask about the future. I almost lost my mind!! This is the third time I have spoken to the receptionist IN PERSON, FACE TO FACE about getting scheduled. OK, I start over again for the third (3) time. Only God knows if I will have an appointment for next month. That is the first problem. Your receptionist is a representative and you have missed the mark completely. These girls are NOT interested. I have about 15 minutes to wait. The lobby has four filthy chairs for the customers. I am not here for the ambiance. I am here to see Kathy. I have been a faithful follower of hers for over 20 years. I travel from New Jersey just to see Kathy. She is the best in your operation. My waiting is up and I start to wonder where is Paul. Paul is Kathy's assistant and he takes very good care of her customers. I was waiting and waiting still no Paul. He usually offers coffe and makes you feel really comfortable. One of the other stylist offered to help Kathy by washing my hair. Where is Paul? The stylist's assistant (Paul) is on the floor under the sinks and inside the panel, fixing a leak. OK that looks strange but things happen. I sit in a torn chair to get my hair washed and see a roach crawling up the wall. I am outraged to think that this company has no respect for the employee or customer. The stylist is not supposed to sub as a plumber. the customer is supposed to feel pampered but how can that be when you have dirty furniture in the waiting room, roaches climbing the wall and old furniture stored within eyes view. I love Kathy and will go wherever she works because she is that good. Halcyon on the other hand should be embarassed by their presentation. more

Halcyon Days is AMAZING!!!! I read reviews online and did my research before choosing a salon and i am glad I choose Halcyon Days. I arrived about 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment and I was taken within 5 minutes of arriving. I went there today for my first brazilian wax ever and Nina did an amazing job. She could tell it was my first time and she calmed my nerves so much! She spoke to me during the entire time and made me feel so comfortable!! It was a bit painful at times, but that is to be expected. If you are ever entertaining the idea of getting a brazilian, go to Nina she is great. I will definitely be a regular now!! Thanks Nina!!! May I just say, I've had the best service from the most pleasent person I've had in the long time... Her work was awsome I was wax from my head to my toes. lol ... They took over the salon - they have a lot of experience on running a salon - New York, etc. They have the latest in color, Keratone, process, etc. The salon is being redone and will be the premier salon in the city. I have been to and around some very inexpensive hair salons from many major cities, and I rate Pierre and Carlo as a 10 for service, great conversation, charm, sensitivity for my input, and much for the 'buck.' For coloring, you have to see "Chuckie." The compliments on my coloring have yet to end! He gave me exactly what I wanted given only a vague description. I usually pay $$$$$ for my coloring at another location in Philadelphia and for $$ Chuckie achieved the best result to date. Also, for eye-brows artfully and carefully done you must see Harrret! She has the most fabulous stories from her days as a professional make-up artist, be sure to ask about! (Harriet also still provides make-up services for events and productions so call in for her if you're in need for that, as well! ) I truly felt that I was being worked on by a true artist. I had a wonderful manicure from Stacy. She is very bubbly and talkative, and will put you at ease in an instant. Every detail of my hands was paid attention to, and she worked the tension right out of my hands. Her arm and hand massages were amazing and I didn't want it to end. For my first time going to a waxing, I was suprisingly relaxed, I don't know if it was from the overall style of the salon or being put into such a knowledgeable staff members hands. Everything was completely comfortable and my embarressment quickly was erased due to the professional staff. No more being hairy for me. I had my hair and makeup done at Pierre and Carlo and everything was perfect! Angela the bridal coordinator was so helpful setting up my appointments. Jason is a wonderful hairdresser and would highly recommend him. Yelena is great for waxing. However, be careful when you check in at the front desk because the staff tells you to have a seat and will inform then that you have arrived -- Well on at least three occassions i have expereicned that the snobby front desk girls do not bother to tell your hairdresser or manicurist or facialist that you have arrived. On one occassion my stylist was going to get a snack and looked at me in shock because he thought I was a "no show" after i had been waiting for 20 minutes. While visiting in Philadelphia my friend and I both got haircuts at this salon. My stylist was Penny Monteleone. I was so pleased with her work. It was a fantastic cut and th perfect style for my face. She is very experienced and was also a lot of fun. Where I live, I have a good stylist I am loyal to, but it was great to get something a little fresh and new! My current stylist also said Penny gave me a superior cut! I highly recommend Penny! more

Touch of class- that's the only way I can describe the work of Raeleah (RAY-LEE-AH). Facial appearance is very important to me and the business that I'm in. For the past year and a half she has been treating my skin in such a way I can feel the benefits on the inside as well as the outside. Confidence is a key factor in being successful and so is appearance. I experience both after my monthly appointments. Penny knows how to color hair. I have been to every salon possible in the city. I've been to NYC as well. I was refered to Pierre and Carlo by a friend. She told me Penny is a great colorist there, boy was she right. Penny weaved 3 different colors in my hair and cut my hair the best way possible for my hair type. I've never gotten so may compliments on my hair . Penny sure knows hair, she told me she's been doing it over 25 years. I've never been so happy in all my life. The salon is very friendly.
