Halcyon Days Salon & Spa @ The Bellevue

I lived in Phildelphia my whole live , i been to a majority of salons in the city and as a stylist i work in some of them. My opinion of Pierrer & Carlo is the best salon in Philadelphia, Every time i go there i feel very welcomed. The owner & all the staff are very friendly and professional. evey time i leave i am very satisfied with every service i recieve. i recomend to anyone whom is reading this to go to the salon and receive a wondeful expierence of your own. more

I go to Pierre and Carlo for ALL my services. Hair, nails, waxing.. you name it. Everyone there is good but I frequently use CONNIE for manicures, LEXY and BARBARA for hair (cut, color, blowout - whichever), YELENA for facials, and JULIETTE for waxing. All the employees are friendly and welcoming and the desk girls always make me laugh. All in all I always have a pleasant experience and look forward to my appointments. This place is excellent! Pros: Everything! Cons: Street parking is hard to find, but they do validate for the parking garage. more

After winning a gift card for the Urban Getaway($355 value including; facial, massage, lunch, manicure, pedicure, haircut, makeup) at a company function I was extremely excited. Everying was emazing with the exception of my haircut, the stylist did not fully listen to my when I said what I wanted I was highly upset, however the makeup I received afterwards cheered me up until...it came time to pay. I handed over my gift card and then I was told that there was only $100 on the card and that it expired at the end of the month. I was then yelled at and publically humiliated by Joe, whom I am told is the owner, after I explained that it was a gift card and he realized my name didn't match the one who supposedly bought the card he told me I had to pay the remaining balance and then gave me a certificate for a free manicure because of the mixup. He also recommended that I tell my company that someone was trying to get over on them in regards to the raffle prize. I had to shell out $255 I did not have, plus the money for tip and parking that I had already figured. I had to give poor tips to those who did a great job, due to the situation. When I got back to work the following week and explained what happened I was told I would be reimburse. When they found the receipt for the gift card and saw that it was indeed for the Urban Get Away Value..they called the salon and found out that it Pierre and Carlo's fault. I was told to call and ask for Stephanie as she had whitnessed the whole thing and she would put the money back on my credit card. I called and Joe answered, he was very short with me but got Stephanie on the phone. She was very helpful and the money was put back on my card. But the public humiliation and embarassment I felt can never be taken away. Most businesses would have offered me another Urban Getaway for free since it was their fault...but I was not offered this. And I would never recommend this spa and salon. I am a Philadelphia business owner, my husband works for a prominent Philadelphia business owner, so this is disappointing for me to have to write this review. My husband and I received a spa day for a Christmas gift. The first time I tried to make our appointment, I was treated rather rudely by a guy named "Joe" - chalked it up to the holiday and decided to call back the following week. Called again - all booked - no big deal, I'll call after the holiday. Last Tuesday I called again and the woman who answered was very nice - we were to start with massage and she would make all the arrangements. When we arrived, we went back to the previously mentioned strange bathroom/changing room - together. Clean, but kind of a weird set up - np, it's the city, there are space issues. Decent massage, no complaints, except that the therapist asked me what the massage was supposed to be. They seemed disorganized after the massage, as if our being there for a whole spa couples package was a surprise and not on their books. I had to remind them what we had, why we were there, what all was included ? for a Philadelphia Salon to not have their act together ? unbelievable to me. My husband's stylist Kelly did a good job, but was a little short with me through a smile when I was trying to explain what my husband could not ? I wasn?t criticizing her. I waited and waited - no one came by to even greet me or say they were running behind. After having enough of managing my own spa day and after my husband's cut was done we left - but not without speaking to the manager first. My hair was greasy, I was agitated and he didn't offer to have someone trim my hair immediately, which is all I wanted - he was just trying to appease me by offering more free services ? I wanted to cry. Now I have to figure out how our lovely friend about this experience and that that this isn't the type of gift she would want to give to a client. Highlight was Stacey the manicurist. Pros: Stacey the manicurist was great - saving grace of the day! Cons: Came home in tears with greasy hair. Never felt like they were in control of the day. more

I'm really considering going there for my first brazilian wax, and I just wanted to ask a few questions of anyone who's gone there for that.... 1) are their prices the same as/close to the $50 advertised online? 2) are the services pretty good (my boyfriend's been away for two months soooo i'd like to go somewhere really good)... 3) anyone in particular i should ask for? more

They need better hair stylist. There attention should be more about hair. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I'm going to stick with the smaller mom and pop places They give you there undivided attenetion more

I have followed KELLY from Europe to the US. Her cuts are up-to-date; and easy to manage when traveling. She is always attentive to my haircolor - making changes that reflect changes in my life and lifestyle. I am a professional woman and Kelly understands my need to present a sophisticated but current look. Now that KELLY is at PIERRE & CARLO; I also enjoy the attention of a welcoming, professional staff who provides the kind of service a busy woman needs. Thanks to you all. A pathetic hair cut for a huge price. Had an appointment after work at 6pm (the salon closes at 7). I think that was a big mistake as she seemed to be in a great hurry to finish up. When I took the appointment I informed the lady over the telephone that I have really thick hair and need some one experienced; so the lady receommended Maria who supposedly has 20 years of experience. Went for the appointment and told Maria that I want a style that would require less maintenance while it looked professional enough. She recommended emphasizing my wavy hair instead of ironing it.Sounded like a plan to me. Went for a wash and came back, she trimmed it by an inch or so even though Iwanted it shorter; she told me it wouldn't look nice, so I kept quite. When I told her to make changes she told me to be happy with what I have as many people don't have hair! I don't really need to hear that. I went to Yelena for my first Brazilian and have been going to her ever since. For a service that can be a little "awkward," she makes you feel completely relaxed and comfortable. She does a great job removing hair quickly and with minimal pain. If you're considering getting a Brazilian for the first time or just want to try somewhere else, definitely book an appointment with her! more

I live in NY but recently came to Philadelphia on business (and desperately needed a color touch up and cut before my meeting.) The concierge at the Bellevue recommended P&C and I was so happy with the experience. The salon was very nice but the real find was Kelly. Seriously, Kelly was so great? she matched my color perfectly and gave me the best haircut I have ever had. (And that includes my very expensive regular salon in Manhattan.) My only complaint is that Kelly doesn't work in NY! more

After a recent disappointing haircut at a salon in Haddonfield, a friend recommended Kelly at Pierre and Carlo to me. What a difference an experienced stylist makes! I have long curlyish hair that I like to wear both curly and straight, and Kelly gave me a cut that looks perfect either way. She also recommended toning down my highlights which had gotten too brassy, and she added a special gloss treatment that made my hair look incredibly shiny. I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair before. I will definitely be coming back. Pros: Professional atmosphere, great location. Cons: None. more

I had been going to the same stylist for 10 years and felt like I needed a change. It was hard to break away from my usual stylist but I was recommended to the salon by a friend. her hair always looks fantastic so I decided to try it. The staff here are fun and made me feel great. The girls at the desk are so friendly and accomadating. My hair came out so great and I feel like a new woman! I have found a new place for the next 20 years at least. more

My girlfriend and I decided to take a much needed day at the spa to destress. It's located in the bottom of the Bellvue which is a beautiful building. The spa was fantastic it was so relaxing and everyone was so friendly. We had massages, facials and pedicures and everyone was thorough and very professional. We had such a great time we decided to do it once a month. more

I took my girlfriend for a haircut and highlighting yesterday with a noon appointment. Thankfully, she was put into the hands of Jason, who has an excellent track record. He knew what to do with her hair and she looked amazing afterwards. The appointment lasted quite a while as Jason meticulously cut and highlighted her hair. It was worth the wait and the price tag. As in life, you get what you pay for. This was money well spent. Pros: Jason made my girl go from looking good to AMAZING Cons: none more

I had been searching for a hairstylist for several months after quitting my old salon due to long wait times and prices. It was trial & error but I finally the one for me! My new hair stylist is Jason and he is just wonderful!!! He gave me a great chic cut, listened and knew exactly how to enhance my look. My appt .started on time and the salon staff was friendly and professional. Jason is very experieinced and knows exactly what to do for your hair type. Products he used were also wonderful. My whole experience has been excellent. I'm now walking down the street w/ confidence :) and style. My haire is bouncy and shiny and the cut is of great precision. I am so glad I found him!!!! Also would recommend facials by Alexis. She makes you feel so relaxed and comfortable .Very skilled and efficient . She is absolutely the best!! I recently decided to give them a try....bad idea. They talk about all their "best of philly" awards, but what they don't tell you when they hang in the hair salon is that they're definitely not for hair. So I recently had a bad experience at Pierre and Carlo (flithy conditions, inept stylist and overall shabby atmosphere and quality) and so I wrote a review here expressing my opinion of their business. Today I find the review is gone and replaced by positive older reviews. Tsk tsk. To fail a client and to then hush up the truth of the 'Pierre and Carlo experience' is really just sad. But I guess that's what people have to do when their 'spa' is located in a subterranean food court. Really. Only Pro: Yelena's waxing. She is great. Pros: Yelena Cons: Everything else. I have had been getting facials for decades and started going to this salon 2 years ago. I must say ALEXIS IS THE BEST!! no gimmicks, nonsense or product pressure. She is effiicient and thorough and always pleasant. My skin is always glowing when i leave and Alexis provides me with tips on how to maintain. I love it !!!! I went to Pierre and Carlo with my sister and while she got her hair colored .I asked if there was a facial open Well it must have been my lucky day!I got ALEXIS, boy was she a surprise !It was the best facial I have every gotten my skin was glowing ,my legs felt like jelly.I think I'm in love. I'll be back to see her again! more
