I went here while visiting Philly to check out UPenn. I was torn between going to the Franklin Institute or touring the historical district -- and boy was I glad to have chosen the first! They have great hands-on exhibits that teach about electricity, bloodflow, etc. What TRULY amazed me was the limited time Body Worlds exhibit. (It's there till April 23rd, 2006, so catch it if you can!)

This is deiniftely an offbeat museum, which has hundreds of medical abnormalities on display. They have everything from a wall of human skulls, the soap lady, and everything in between. Definitely worth checking out if you have never been and are looking for something new.

I had gone to the museum before they moved to Fairmount park and liked it then. I love it now. My daughter is 3 and she has a blast everytime we go. The exhibits are perfect for her age group and there's so much for her to get involved with!

In college i learned much more information on the civil war than in high school. My professor really encouraged all of us to go to this museum, even offering extra credit. The price was really cheap about five dollars so it was worth the extra credit! I was really amazed to see all the history in the museum. I thought the photos were really interesting as was some of the body armor. The truth is that i should have came here a long time ago I learned so much about our country.

This is another great day for the family. The kids will love the fossils and bones and fossilized eggs that they can touch. The dinosaur skeletons are really impressive. The last time I was there they had a huge butterfly exhibit where you walked through an enclosed area full of plants and butterflies of all sorts were all around you. If you stood still they even would land on you. There are rocks and minerals and gems to see.
There are also areas where large taxidermy specimens of game animals are on display behind glass in settings made to look like their natural habitat. This is a fun place!

You really can't visit Philly and not visit the cultural goodies. This place is top on the list to hit up. There's something for everyone here and tons of stuff to see. I've been there a few times, Sundays or Wednesdays seem to be the least crowded days. You can spend hours in there, and if you ask me it's a nice place for a date.

The nice thing about shopping at the Gallery is that it is so easy to get to. Their is an el stop right below it! They have many good shops and a large food court. Be sure to go near the Christmas holidays when they have it decorated really pretty. Many old favorite type stores with a few unique additions.

Go. Just go. My husband is a Civil War buff and I suggested we go there so that he would have fun while we were in the city. Not being that interested in the war, I went to humor him. I am so glad I did....the artifacts, reading material, and knowledge possessed by the very helpful and eager docents impressed me to no end. To put it mildly, hubby was thrilled. It's a very well-presented exhibit that I would recommend to anyone.
Pros: artifacts, location, staff
Cons: parking can be interesting

I recently visited here with toddlers and managed to keep them there for nigh on three hours -- anybody who has toddlers know that's a miracle! The different floors made it exciting and they LOVED "Inside Out" which was the special children's section; they got to pet a snake, lizard, rabbit, and tortoise and couldn't stop talking about the bees! There was an accessible elevator for the stroller, and a lunchroom where you could buy, or bring food to eat. For adults, they have very informative plaques on the animals and explorers.
Pros: Fun for kids
Cons: Bathrooms were tricky to get into with stroller
