If you're looking for a cheap haircut or style and don't mind having students do your hair, this is the place to go. Women's haircuts start at only $9.50, and the students work under teacher supervision. It's not the most organized place (my stylist had to go borrow scissors from a fellow student) but they do a good job, and the price cannot be beat. You can everything here - nails, waxing, color, style, cut. I can't vouch for anything but the cut, though. You can also stock up on Aveda product while you're there.

I had gone to the museum before they moved to Fairmount park and liked it then. I love it now. My daughter is 3 and she has a blast everytime we go. The exhibits are perfect for her age group and there's so much for her to get involved with!

Pearl is massive. In it's multilevel store you will find pretty much everythign you will need for any artistic ebdeaver you can think of. The prices are pretty good, and the selection can't be beat. The staff are also very good about helping you find things. They have a student discount as well. Be prepared to leave your bags up front when you enter the store.

It was a blast from the first time i walked in the doors to be accepted into the school the class was so into it. Since i wasn't working before it was difficult to fork up the 475.00. The day i graduated they told me to run down to a job interview and i had only 45 minutes to run home get changed and get there. Got hired on the spot and worked the next Saturday night made over 200$. It was ridiculous lol... Tripled the total price of the course within the next 2 weeks..
Pros: Fun Atmosphere, Professional, but still very fun!
Cons: it was only for 2 weeks =[

I have worked as a sommelier for several years now, but I didn't have the proper papers or training. My employer FINALLY agreed to pay for my training, and I chose the Wine School. I attended the Foundation and Intermediate programs. I impressed with the programs and the instructors.
I know they also offer wine tasting classes, but I have not taken any of those.
Pros: Great instructors, good programs
Cons: Not in Center City

1. We aren't Penn State. I don't even mean this in the negative sense - I happen to be rather fond of Penn State, with good memories of a summer spent there and many friends who love their school. However, we're located in University City not State College and we've Quakers not Lions. (also see #4)
2. Wharton isn't the be all and end all of Penn. Yes, they've more money than they know what to do with and they're awfully famous (and perhaps a tiny bit evil, they never say). But people actually do major in other things here - law, medicine? How about actual humanties courses? Yup!
3. No, it's not as dangerous as it looks - keep your wits about you, and don't do anything silly. But the location is great for getting into Center City - if you like.
4. And, as a note to a friend of mine that didn't know otherwise, this is the sports powerhouse (and member) of the Ivy League.
5. Honestly, it's a great place to go to school :)

SOO SOO SORRY TO SEE THE MATERNITY WARD CLOSING! SUCH A SET BACK FOR MOTHERS!

This is hot yoga. Not always for the faint of heart. I really love the classes here. It is like therapy for the day. The classes are usually pretty full, but different levels mesh well together. Great work out.
