Esquin has what I need 6/21/2006

When we are going to buy a lot of wine or are looking for something special, Esquin is a great place to go. Their staff is very informed and can even help you with food pairings. I've gone in with a menu and they've walked me through the best wines for my courses. When I wanted more education on port, a salesperson gave me a great deal of info about my options and I never felt like he was trying to upsell me with the most expensive bottle. Also, they are always having great deals and wine tasting events which you can find out about in their newsletter so I recommend checking it out. more

Wine heaven 5/5/2006

I stumbled upon Esquin when I used to work near Safeco Field - and it was certainly a happy discovery! It is a nice large shop, especially by specialty wine shop standards - and the staff is very friendly and helpful. A great place to go if you're looking for a special bottle to serve for an occassion, or if you're just looking for an everyday wine. They have it all here! more

Esquin - the best I've visited in Seattle so far 1/30/2006

I admit I have not visited many of the fine wine retail merchants in Seattle, but I humbly submit that I have been to many and in quite a few places...Esquin stands out as one of the best. The criteria for a great wine merchant are, among many, selection, staff expertise, and fair prices. Esquin is strong on all counts. Arnie Millan is one of the finest in store sommeliers I have ever met, if not the finest. HIs encyclopaedic knowledge never ceases to blow me away, particularly when it comes to French, Italian and Spanish wines. He knows vintages, terriors, producers, and above all, the "unsung heroes" that are incredible values. Arnie is a wonder! Esquin's selection is excellent and the prices all seem to be quite fair, especially when you consider they carry wines you've never heard of that will taste twice as good at half the price of many of the brands. I'm looking forward to finding another merchant that comes close (for variety's sake of course). more

Good staff, Good selection 12/29/2005

Great place for enophile or not. They will direct you to your price or taste range of choice. Very unsnooty to folks who like wine yet don't want to collect or outclass the neighbors. My favorite stop. more

Undiscovered treasures 8/21/2005

Esquin, a large warehouse, offers a wine value for everyone. No frills but pleasant, sipping wine there can feel as though you're in an enormous tasting room of a winery. Look beyond that corner and you'll realize that Esquin carries wines from around the world, and has a staff quite dedicated to finding the ultimate wine. A bonus: you can rent wine storage lockers on-site. more

The Wine Standard in Seattle 8/20/2005

Esquin is one of the largest -- if not most complete -- wine retailers in Seattle. Aside from a monstrous selection of wines from around the planet, these guys also handle a full suite of accessories and a great site for storage. To boot, as collectors are often want to release their collected wines to auction, Esquin handles those transactions and affords some of their best buyers first crack at some great (and well cellared) juice. more

Best Selection in Seattle 7/5/2005

Not nearly as big and "fun" as Sam's. You won't find that type of place anywhere outside of Chicago.... at least I haven't! This is the next best thing. Great selection, located south of the stadiums in the industrial area. Check out the "Cult Wine" section. Always something good in there. Good luck and Cheers! more
