The staff lady was so nice when I called to make an appointment. I told her I've never been to Vain before and I'm asian with curly long hair. She immediately recommended me to several hair stylist that would do good on what I want. I decided to go with Alexis to have the hair cut. For sure she was amazing. First, she shampoo my hair with something that smells fantastic and minty, and then gave me a head and neck message. I was totally relax afterward. Then she gave me the great hair cut that I wanted!!!! Like I said I'm asian with with long curly hair and lots of it!! She work on my hair in detail for a long time. Cutting my hair is not easy, having it to look good is even harder. Anyways I love the hair cut and Good Job! I will be back again and recommend this hair salon and Alexis to my friends!!
Pros: Nicest Staff, Reasonable Price for a Good Hair Cut!
Cons: Need to arrive early if you want cheap street parking.

I've been going to Archie's as long as I can remember, ever since it was on Stone Way, and it's never failed to disappoint or provide anything less than a stellar visit. There are so many good gift items here, from the novelty toys to the strange foreign instruction posters to the assorted odds and ends (New Kids on the Block trading cards, fingertip rubber monsters, magic 8, bacon strip band aids). There's also a deep and wonderful selection of postcards, including scenes of old Seattle, old movie posters and other strange scenes--buy some and send 'em to your friends. I seriously do about 50% of my holiday shopping here, year after year.
Pros: The amazing selection
Cons: Can be waaaay busy around Christmas

Do you think you've seen it all?! Well, not yet until you've stopped by The Old Curiosity Shop down on Pier 54 in Seattle. The things you only think happen in fairytales, you'll see preserved in Giant Jars. Three headed pigs, shrunken heads, who wouldn't want to go peruse the shop?

I love this place because it's pretty much the only clean asian market in existence. There's great variety of all ethnic foods, so you don't have to stop at the special Chinese store, then the special vietnamese store, then the special thai store, then the special american store, to get all of your ingredients. This place is truly a one stop shop! Yes, it's a little bit pricey, but you're saving a lot of gas money and time. There's also a cute little gift shop and book store area that's fun to browse in. Most staff speak pretty good english so can help you find what you need. Seafood selection and quality is excellent.
Pros: great variety, one stop shop, clean, parking in chinatown!
Cons: expensive

More
The university book store is one of my favorite seattle books stores. Not only do they have good prices and wide selection of textbooks, their selection of other books is hugely extensive. It's a really nice, relaxing atmosphere (except during the beginning and end of UW quarters). The staff is very friendly and helpful. Also, they have really good special events. The husky shop is pretty cool and the people in the media center are helpful. Overall, it's a really great bookstore.
Pros: Great selection, great staff
Cons: parking is a little annoying

Tulip is my favorite little jewel of a boutique. It has the most interesting mix of clothes with a strong point of view. I've found some of my most "classic with an edge" clothes there. The kind of things you can wear season after season.
The jewelry as well as the accessories are simple, understated and well-edited.
The sales gals are just great!
Always extremely helpful- finding sizes and giving honest opinions when asked for without being pushy or bothersome as I've experienced in other Seattle stores. Annie, the owner is often there and always helps to find the perfect thing.
Another bonus- Tulip is the only Seattle boutique I know of that carries Christy Turlington's Sundari line of skincare. There is nothing else like Sundari- it's the only high end skincare that has natural ingredients.
I always find something new and unique at Tulip!

More
I wish I would have gone there for all of my halloween items, but I did get the last accessories there this year. They have aisles upon aisles of goods that go from grotesque to hilarity. I was very pleased with the selection of items and thoroughly enjoyed my shopping experience. Longer hours during the week before Halloween was also convenient. I may even go back for other holiday items--they have another side of the store with party and display items that looks pretty lucrative. I would recommend this store to people for Halloween as well as for general party items.
Pros: Great selections
Cons: Insanely busy around Halloween
