Its usually helpful to give people utensils.

Pretty Okay 8/22/2011

It was an "ok" restaurant. It's surely average because I don't think you can do too much fusion to mexican food as to let say French/Chinese or Cuban cuisines and make it hype. The service was good, the ambience was nice. Carne asada is so-so as are the crab enchiladas. The El Vez dessert is fair. more

good guac, bad everything else 3/21/2006

Guacamole is to die for. Other than that….pricey and not worth it. The atmosphere is very crowded and large, even during the off hours on a Saturday afternoon. Small glasses for soda and water and a lot of pressure to get an alcoholic beverage. But, the guacamole is the best I’ve ever had. more

Disappointing 12/15/2005

I can only recommend the guacamole that is made at your table. Obviously, the guac does not come out of a can and is excellent. If you want heavy, greasy, and over-priced pseudo-Mexican food, then this is the place for you more

If you want a fun pricey night out, check it out 8/25/2005

El Vez is a fun place to go - really, any place with a motorcycle must be cool. But, the food is merely okay and very pricey. Four tacos are close to $20. And the liquor, especially the tempting fancy fun drinks, is very expensive. Great for a quick drink after work, but if you really are interested in good Mexican food, you may want to look elsewhere. more

Great ambiance, decent food 8/5/2005

We have been to El Vez four times with very different groups. We love it because it's very easy to enter and navigate with a stroller (very difficult in many places in Philadelphia). The food is good and the service is always attentive. It's a fun place! Just stay away from the guacamole - it's expensive and nothing to rave about. more
